Is it same or different to you dc? How old are your dc?

We eat as a family between half 5 and 6. DC are 11 and 7.

If we eat with the kids (most of the time now, which is nice), I aim for 7.30. Usually 8.30/8.45 if just us. Kids are 11 and 8.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 01/11/2020 08:42

Depends on dh hours. If he's on earlies, together at half 5/6. If he's on lates ds eats at 6 and we eat at 8 after he's in bed.

DS is 1

Ginblooded · 01/11/2020 08:43

We eat as a family between 6:30-7. This is late compared to all other children on the street who seem to eat between 5-6- my DS is 9, and DP has a 6 year old who is here frequently.
It will definitely change when the baby gets a little older (he is 9 weeks) as that will be when his bedtime will be!

Wtfdidwedo · 01/11/2020 08:44

We eat between 4pm and 6pm depending on work finish times. I've never liked eating late. Our children are under 4 and we all eat together.

Redwolf1 · 01/11/2020 08:45

We eat as a family at 5/530. My dc are 2 and 5. They have some toast or cereal later on

TheFallenMadonna · 01/11/2020 08:45

When ours were that age, 7.30

badlydrawnbear · 01/11/2020 08:45

We eat with the DC, who are 6 and 9, at about 6pm, slightly later if the dinner takes longer to cook than expected.

AriettyHomily · 01/11/2020 08:46

630/7. Kids are ten.

Ginfordinner · 01/11/2020 08:47

Between 6.30 and 7 usually. How do adults have an appetite at 5pm? Do they not have lunch?

OgwdihwO · 01/11/2020 08:48

Thanks. I just wondered whether we ate too early, and as the kids are getting older maybe I should push it back.

Same with bedtime. Both 11 and 7yr olds go to bed at 8

DS is 3. He eats around 6pm. I eat with my husband when he's home so anything from 8-9.30pm.

We eat as a family at the weekend with DS.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/11/2020 08:50

Normally 6-6.30 as its the only time we can all eat together. DS is 8 and goes to bed at 8.15. DP works some later shifts so if a later shift falls on a Saturday we'll eat later then let DS stay up later too.

EasilyDepleted · 01/11/2020 08:53

Ours has varied a lot over the years (DCs are teens now) as they do a lot of sports and activities in the evening, so until late primary school they would do things after school and eat later (6.30-7), then the activities started getting later so dinner got earlier (5.30-6) and now the activities are all over the place (DH and I do some too plus DH works irregular hours) so dinner times are all over the place too and rarely all eaten together. During the last lockdown they drifted later (7 onwards) as no one was going out in the evenings, I guess that will happen again now.

gerbo · 01/11/2020 08:53

We eat together at six ish. I'm hungry by then as working in a school nursery means my lunch is at noon! We've eaten together since they were around six/seven.
Dc are 10 and 13.

ifiwasascent · 01/11/2020 08:55

No DC- get home about 6 then start cooking, prob eat 7.30 most nights

HunterHearstHelmsley · 01/11/2020 08:55

We eat between 5.30 and 6.30. I'll generally have a snack if its much later than that.

Hate going for meals late and going to bed with a full stomach.

Bluesheep8 · 01/11/2020 09:06

How do adults have an appetite at 5pm? Do they not have lunch?

We eat between 5 and 5:30. And we eat lunch.

pineapplepalmtree · 01/11/2020 09:08

5.30 which is 5 and a half hours after lunch, so im starving!

VettiyaIruken · 01/11/2020 09:09

When we're hungry. We've never really been able to stick to mealtime routine.

cliffdiver · 01/11/2020 09:10

DDs are 6 and 9, we eat together at 5pm.

reluctantbrit · 01/11/2020 09:11

Dinner is around 7pm, was ever since I returned from maternity leave.

DD is 13 now. She also has clubs three nights and isn't home until then, one evening not before 8pm actually. And that is dance so no way she can eat a full dinner prior.

I can't stomach a hot dinner at 5-6pm never mind the fact that I don't have the time cooking it, even with wfh I work until 5pm.

I grew up with a healthy and decent snack around 4pm, something we still do and that keeps us going.

RaininSummer · 01/11/2020 09:19

Aim for 6.30 normally. Last night we were really late at 8pm and I felt quite sick all night in bed and couldn't sleep.

ImAllOut · 01/11/2020 09:24

@Ginfordinner

Between 6.30 and 7 usually. How do adults have an appetite at 5pm? Do they not have lunch?
We both used to work in hospitality so got used to eating anything we could whenever we have time, so we're used to one proper meal at 5ish and then a snack for breakfast and lunch. Our children have breakfast at 7.30 and lunch at 12 so are normally hungry again by 5.
Camomila · 01/11/2020 10:25

Between 5.30-6.30, DCs eat with us, they are 4.5 and 9m.

DH and I have lunch at 12 with the baby so are hungry again by dinner.

WishUponAStar88 · 01/11/2020 10:26

All together at 5 if eating together. Kids at 5 at we eat at 7.30 once they’re in bed on working days.
