Just wondering, how many hours do you work in an average week and what is your job?

OP posts:
CheshireSplat · 29/10/2020 07:15

I'm a lawyer. Contract is 37.5 hours. Work 45-50 hours a week. It's too much but I'm senior so it is expected.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/10/2020 07:15

Practice nurse, 28hrs, M,W,F, currently on maternity leave.

ItsNotPinkItsSalmon · 29/10/2020 07:18

Dental Nurse - 40+ hours a week.
I left recently because the company are shit.

Ace1185 · 29/10/2020 07:19

Early years officer 27.5hrs over 5 days meaning I can do all school drop offs and pick ups

delilahbucket · 29/10/2020 07:19

Self employed online retailer here. I did circa 70 hours last week. Usually it's more like 60.

clustercluster · 29/10/2020 07:19

Microbiologist 39hrs...and I do 39hrs unless we have a busy spell and then anything extra I do is paid overtime.

Flamingolingo · 29/10/2020 07:21

I work 30 hours a week during school hours (DH does drop off on his way to work, I do pick up). I work in the public sector (sort of, just about where the public sector meets the private), in business development.

SquigglePigs · 29/10/2020 07:21

Consultant doing 28 hrs. It was 32 until very recently but this is better for work life balance. Some weeks it's difficult to stick to with deadlines and things but my boss is very good at trying to make sure it doesn't get out of control or that I get the time back the week after.

mindutopia · 29/10/2020 07:22

On paper, 32 hours but I realistically probably work closer to 37 or more, which is full time for me. I have projects that need finishing that are delayed by COVID. I’m a lecturer.

MalorieSnooty · 29/10/2020 07:23

Teacher in a secondary school. In my busiest weeks, I used to work up to 80 hours per week (at Christmas with concerts/rehearsals).

Post-Covid (no extra-curricular, we're doing it all online), I get in at 7.30 and leave at 4, which is comparative bliss. I also work 4 days, but spend the vast majority of my day 'off' planning and sorting out admin.

MedSchoolRat · 29/10/2020 07:26

Researcher (scientist), public health, for a university.
I can't characterise "what I do" because my contract got shredded this year.
It should be about 38 hours/week for FT job.

CherryPavlova · 29/10/2020 07:26

At moment very variable but around 45 average. When travelling to London it was far more - but peaks and troughs still. Medical law and policy management.

milkysmum · 29/10/2020 07:28

Nurse/ Care home manager. Paid for 37.5.
Reality at the moment is I work about 60

Riddo · 29/10/2020 07:31

3 hours a week nannying
1 hour a week DH's admin

I've opened an Etsy shop so was hoping to be working more on that but so far I've only had two sales 🙁

Derelictwreck · 29/10/2020 07:31

I'm on government policy. Contracted 37.5 but reality is 55-60 hours a week. It's a bit of a busy time for government Wink I love my job though

Athrawes · 29/10/2020 07:33

Teacher
Do we really want to go here. About 55

Hooleywhipper · 29/10/2020 07:37

Counsellor 24 hours per week.

SantiagoSky · 29/10/2020 07:37

32 hours a week in IT

confusedofengland · 29/10/2020 07:37

Pre-Covid, anything between 3 & 14 hours per week, possibly more. Now, nothing. I'm on a zero hours contract with libraries & they have decided I'm not needed at the moment as they are suffering, so just using FT staff to cover my usual work. Really miss both the money & sense of self-worth I get from working & can't wait to get back to it Sad

PurBal · 29/10/2020 07:38

37.5 admin for a charity

Lobsterquadrille2 · 29/10/2020 07:40

Accountant for a large company. Contracted hours are 37.5 but more like 50. I manage a team of six and everything is taking longer working from home.

AriettyHomily · 29/10/2020 07:42

Contract says 32 reality is 40ish. Professional services.

Butterbeeeen · 29/10/2020 07:42

AshGirl · 29/10/2020 07:42

Also a lawyer. Contracted to 29 hours which I work over 5 days. Actual hours worked more like 32-33 but I do like my job!

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 29/10/2020 07:43
