Which horror films really creeped you out?

I'm really into horror films but the ones that really put me on edge were war of the worlds, mama and wolf creek.

They made me shiver and get the nervous sweats.

Which ones affected you?

Wolf Creek. Awful.

SaltyAndFresh · 28/10/2020 21:59

Also the Lust scene from Seven.

salty78 · 28/10/2020 22:06

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is so sinister

DeadButDelicious · 28/10/2020 22:07

The Blair Witch Project scared the shit out of me. Put me off camping for life it did.

But the one that's really stuck with me is Ghostwatch. Not technically a film I suppose but it scared 10 year old me witless. Pipes and his cats can duck right off.

WonderMoon · 28/10/2020 22:12

Don't laugh but Jeepers Creepers used to freak me out, especially when he would fly off into the dark with his victims, - horrible. The Conjuring also gave me the creeps. I'm with you on War Of The Worlds, I felt really disturbed after watching that.

Popfan · 28/10/2020 22:29

Jeepers Creepers totally freaked me out too!

Cherry321 · 28/10/2020 22:33

Wolf creek (another one) switched off as soon as they woke up tied up and have no desire to hear what happened.

Sockbogies · 28/10/2020 22:41

I love a good horror or thriller, and completely agree with PP about Wolf Creek. Horrible film with sexual violence.. Hated it and had to turn it off half way through. Felt upset for days afterwards (bit of a trigger for me).

I did like The Ritual. Scared me silly but very good with some dark humour.

StormyLovesOdd · 28/10/2020 22:44

Hostile scared me and The Human Centipede played on my mind for ages after I'd seen it, never want to see either of those films again.

Scary films I enjoyed are The Haunting of Jane Doe and Dracula Untold.

MelodramPatheticism · 28/10/2020 22:46

The original Pet Semetary. It's just so relentlessly sad and desperate as well as being quite creepy.

Beecham · 28/10/2020 22:47

Blair Witch Project. Just awful

MrsBungle · 28/10/2020 22:48

The hills have eyes. And deliverance. Not sure deliverance is actually a ‘horror’ as such but it was for me!

WhatTheFuckHappenedHere · 28/10/2020 22:59

Creep, because the guy in it is exactly the sort of deranged weirdo you might meet anywhere. It’s too real!

Oodlesofnoodles20 · 28/10/2020 22:59

@DeadButDelicious ghost watch was the scariest thing ever! Especially for a bunch of 13 year olds home alone!

threecatsandcounting · 28/10/2020 23:10

Saw/Hostel and those kinds of films. If somebody kidnapped you to be tortured/sold whatever it might take a while for anyone to notice you are missing - as an adult the police won't class you as missing until 24 hours later and by then you could be hacking your own foot off in a dirty basement. Terrifying

Which War of the Worlds version are you thinking of?

I don’t classify it as horror, I don’t watch horror.

AcornAutumn · 28/10/2020 23:16

@SaltyAndFresh

Also the Lust scene from Seven.
I don’t think of that as horror either.

I don’t remember Lust, but after Sloth I had to peeled off the ceiling 😂

Omg glad I'm not alone....I used to love horror films and then I watched Jeepers Creepers and it scared the crap out of me and can't really watch horror films anymore
gamerchick · 28/10/2020 23:22

Shuttle (2008) looks like a B movie but the end stays with you.

Hunting ground. It's Australian who have broken the taboo of using little kids. Low level anxiety a chunk of the way through it.

It follows. Spins a different idea on an std.

Waiting on the banshee chapter. I have high hopes.

Room. Not so much a horror, but hurt my heart a bit.

Dawnlassie · 28/10/2020 23:25

Blair witch for me too
Also the Wicker Man

Dawnlassie · 28/10/2020 23:26

1973 version

Dohrehmee · 28/10/2020 23:30

First paranormal activity. Omen original

ImFree2doasiwant · 28/10/2020 23:33

@gamerchick I've just watched room tonight. I have a headache and am emotionally wrung out.

I dont understand the Blair witch thing though, and I'm a proper wimp!

GirlCrush · 28/10/2020 23:37

‘the Blob’ back i the early 80’s I think!!

I remember watching it with my mum and we were both downstairs screaming. My dad had gone to bed and was banging on the ceiling to shut us up!Grin

He had the last laugh as when we eventually went up to bed he had wedged a toilet roll above the bathroom door which then fell down and hit my mum making us both scream even more!! Dad woke up and was cross! What did he expect😃
