Fucked up again at work - tell me I won't get fired!

I've managed to fuck up AGAIN at work on wanking Teams.

Managed to send an invite with 2 links included. I made this mistake last week too then managed to screw up again this week! I double checked the email! There was only 1 but it seemed to generate 2!

Sure I'm gonna be fired

What were they links to?

Doesn't sound like a sackable offence, but I am intrigued and mildly concerned by the phrase 'wanking teams'....

That doesn't seem like a major cock up. Surely you can just send an amendment with the correct link?

Last week I managed to send a bulk email with everyone's private email addresses in the to box rather than bcc. Mistakes are human, just do what you can to correct it and move on.

Honestly if it was two meeting invite links on teams, it’s such a minor thing that I would doubt it would be a sackable offence, you may be reminded to be more careful if your manager is particularly pedantic, but most employers would see this as simple human error that happens from time to time. Anyone senior getting annoyed about this has too much time on their hands and you wouldn’t want to work in that environment. Honestly This sort of thing happens so regularly and it’s not something you should be fired for (unless there’s a massive back story)

Sounds odd how can it generate 2 links

Log a fault with your IT people if Teams is generating extra links.

If your manager queries it you can then show you've been pro-active in trying to fix the error.

I doubt that's a sackable offence OP, I wouldn't worry.

As long as it wasn't a link to sensitive information or whatever, then I am not sure why you would be sacked! In any case, the best policy is to always be honest. Hold your hands up rather than try and dig further and further.

I find teams to be a law unto itself where meetings are concerned. No one gets it right.

Several of my colleagues have sent (multiple) invites without any link, for me 2 links would be preferable to none!

As long as your clients or colleagues were able to join the call it would be a complete non-issue where I work (appreciate all companies are different).

The only thing which sounds concerning is that you mention making a mistake again. Are you on any kind of performance plan for continuous errors / lack of attention to detail etc? If not I don't see a need for you to worry.

Also, if you are sending the invite direct from your calendar within the teams app you won't see the link until after it's sent.

Well I think it depends what you do and what the links were for. How important was the meeting? Did it go ahead regardless?

I don’t use teams but our conferencing service produces the link for you, so when you send an email if you cut and paste into an email it will be duplicated if that makes sense.

But also - calm down, no one ever got fired for sending non-sensitive emails to the correct audience twice.

if it makes you feel any better OP, someone in our organisation sent out aTeams interview invite which went out to everyone in the organisation and then people started to'reply all' to say this was not for them and then people started to reply all saying please stop replying all!!!! We all got so many unwanted emails it was not funny;!! Mistakes happen.

I copied and pasted a 'live event' link into an Outlook invitation - and there was an additional link below that. So people were attending as presenters rather than attendees. I did as people have suggested, just messaged the right link.

The event went ahead, yes thank god. 150 people online etc

I know! Apparently he also had a porn channel open and was flicking between the two, didn't realise that his camera wasn't muted and he was still in the work Zoom.call.

I've amended my online Tesco order before whilst in a Zoom meeting. Toobin took multitasking to another level.

I think that's pretty standard to be honest OP, no harm done I wouldnt imagine. If it's making you stressed, maybe just say about it to your manager and say I'm going to make sure x so I don't do it again.
