Personal hygiene question- smelling and tasting pleasant down there

LilMissRe · 26/10/2020 19:22

I was hoping to find tips and tricks on how to maintain the best hygiene, especially when it comes to smelling and tasting down there. I am a little embarrassed sorry! It's a bit much but I need to know.
I am well aware that we all have a natural odour but was wondering if anyone here has tried and tested methods of making the area down below more pleasant for oneself and for their partners.

I don't drink alcohol or coffee. I don't eat spicy foods or asparagus but I do have Eggs Royale for breakfast every morning- should I stop that?
I drink lots of herbal tea but not enough water I don't think.

Is there anything else?
Any hacks or tips would be appreciated

You have eggs royale everyday? With smoked salmon and hollandaise?! Can I move in with you?!?!

Morgan12 · 26/10/2020 19:32

I don't think the food we eat makes any difference tbh.

Just wash everyday and you should be ok.

LilMissRe · 26/10/2020 19:33

@ChelseaCat
I do with avocado too- it's my favourite meal of the day and the only proper meal if I'm honest. I used to never eat breakfast and made a promise to myself this year that I would start the day with my favourite thing.
Yes you can!

@Morgan12
Thank you- I suppose I get anxious because straight after the shower, all smells well but I worry that smells change when I am getting intimate with someone.
It doesn't help that hormones and the menstrual cycle plays a part

That is all normal - a natural odour, secretions, etc. Just wash with water and all will be fine.

It definitely smells differently depending on where you are in your cycle. However, it is not something to be wished away. As lo g as you was regularly with water (no need to use soap or other "feminine" products) and wear clean underwear every day then... Fine.

supadupapupascupa · 26/10/2020 19:45

Your smell is welcome as long as it's not unwashed three day old. No one likes the taste of soap and it's not good for you. What you eat changes nothing. If you want to be attractive down there, wash with water and chill out. Confidence is everything. That's what I've learned!

Flannel with water later in the day if you are worried.

Arnoldthecat · 26/10/2020 19:50

Just be shower fresh prior to any frightfullness..

TheFoz · 26/10/2020 19:50

Wear cotton knickers.

AnnaMagnani · 26/10/2020 19:52
  1. Have a wash
  2. Anyone who gets to go 'down there' should be absolutely honoured to be graced with your natural smell and taste.

If they aren't, they can fuck off.

wheresmymojo · 26/10/2020 19:54

Are you asking this because you feel like you smell?

I had a strong odour once and it turned out to be Bacterial Vaginosis (just a sort of imbalance in different types of bacteria that naturally occur).

LindaEllen · 26/10/2020 20:04

I used to be quite self conscious about this, because I think we always 'smell' down there - not necessarily a bad smell, just a smell. But my partner said don't worry about it, it's fine, obviously anything in your body that secretes anything is going to smell, but it's not a bad smell, nor a bad taste, and he said it's an honour to do it haha.

LilMissRe · 26/10/2020 20:10

Thank you all!
I shower twice a day but I think showering just before or flanneling might be the way forward?
Although, might that not kill the mood slightly if you're cracking on so to speak and things get heated?

@Butterer
No. I'm seeing someone and have been for some time and I anticipate us having sex at some point and it's making me anxious.

Apparently drinking pineapple juice makes you taste sweet.

@MrsBhappyface
Interesting-Have you tried this yourself or know of people who have?
I'm intrigued

@Butterer
I often think the same too. Judging by my exH, no- not as much as women do
I could be wrong though

If there are any men on here, I'm sure they will tell you that the natural odour / taste of a women is preferable to an unnatural highly perfumed one .

MrsBhappyface · 26/10/2020 20:22

I haven't tried it. I think I read it somewhere. Its worth a try 😁

chunkyrun · 26/10/2020 20:24

I’ve heard of pineapple too not sure on results but I would say for sure wash with water, wear 100% cotton knickers and be confident - these are all good tips generally even without factoring in sex

Dillo10 · 26/10/2020 20:38

100% drink pineapple juice and/or eat fresh pineapple... Trust me on this (I can't say why!)
