Personal hygiene question- smelling and tasting pleasant down there

I was hoping to find tips and tricks on how to maintain the best hygiene, especially when it comes to smelling and tasting down there. I am a little embarrassed sorry! It's a bit much but I need to know.
I am well aware that we all have a natural odour but was wondering if anyone here has tried and tested methods of making the area down below more pleasant for oneself and for their partners.

I don't drink alcohol or coffee. I don't eat spicy foods or asparagus but I do have Eggs Royale for breakfast every morning- should I stop that?
I drink lots of herbal tea but not enough water I don't think.

Is there anything else?
Any hacks or tips would be appreciated

Ah well after reading that I must be in great demand - vegetarian, non alcohol drinker , and not a smoker , same for drugs.
I'll look forward to it

@LilMissRe

Just during the 24 hours beforehand

Siepie · 26/10/2020 21:34

DP and I (both women) make sure there's always pineapple juice in the fridge for this reason! We've got laughs from lesbian guests, so it's definitely a known thing, whether or not it's scientifically sound!

I'm not sure if you need to eat or drink it at a specific time before sex. I suppose night before or morning of.

LongWinterNights · 26/10/2020 21:36

Make sure you take a good high strength probiotic too!

LolalovesLondon · 26/10/2020 21:37

Just be shower fresh prior to any frightfullness..
😂😂😂😂😂

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 26/10/2020 21:46

What you eat changes nothing?

I take it you're not a smoky bacon crisp person. It changes everything
(gazes into horrible flashback distance)

trunumber · 26/10/2020 21:51

You tasted a Fanjo that tasted like smoky bacon?!

Mistymonday · 26/10/2020 21:56

Imho, vegetarians taste/smell better than meateaters and vegans taste/smell better than vegetarians. Sweat and fluids both. Men & women both.

LilMissRe · 26/10/2020 22:10

is it the meat or the refined sugars and processed foods though?

@trunumber some nights are best not discussed but if you're on a promise, skip the crisps. Shudder

soffiee · 26/10/2020 22:45

Shave and keep it short. I have a bottle in my loo where I fill in and wash regularly down that area.

YoureRight · 26/10/2020 23:16

Do PPs mean they only wash their vulvas with water? That is foul, please wash your minges and arses, for the sake of those who have to be near you 🤮 obviously nothing goes inside the vagina. Put as much thought into the issue as your sex partner does to theirs, OP.

whynotwhen · 27/10/2020 10:06

I went through a stage of fresh juices everyday with my super duper juicing machine and no word of a lie my partner couldn't shut up about how I tasted - it made a huge difference apparently.

But that kind of juicing is expensive so now i rely solely on sensitive Weleda organic/vegan almond shower cream which keeps me fresh

Might start juicing again tho hmm

LilMissRe · 27/10/2020 11:47

@whynotwhen
What fruits did you juice?

It's say use a flannel right before a shag or keep a bottle of water or baby wipes by the toilet (if you don't own a bidet, otherwise use that one obviously). Change your underwear regulary and don't wear synthetic stuff, esspecially not thongs, they get sweaty. Also shave or wax (I remove all the hair).

Bluesheep8 · 27/10/2020 12:04

Just be shower fresh prior to any frightfullness..

Frightfulness? Eh???

LilacPebbles · 27/10/2020 12:08

You're thinking way too much into this for whatever reasons.
If you're clean then you're good unless there is some sort of medical issue in which case you can get tablets for that.

Themadcatparade · 27/10/2020 12:17

I disagree with the eating not affecting taste down there, we are quite a garlic heavy household and when we go hard on it my DP has noticed I have had a slight garlic taste down there before which made me laugh!

I’d stay away from soaps and clean yourself Daily with fresh hot water and let your Healthy normal bacteria Flourish the way it’s supposed to do rather than adding chemicals in the mix which can upset things. Vaginas are self cleaning and very clever!

LilacPebbles · 27/10/2020 12:19

Vaginas self clean but vulvas don't.

Thymeout · 27/10/2020 12:48

Don't want to spoil your breakfast routine, but a percentage of the population has a genetic tendency to smell of fish after eating it. You might not be one of them, but could be a good idea to check?

LilMissRe · 27/10/2020 13:28

@Thymeout
That is really interesting and I think you may be on to something. I might swap that breakfast and try yoghurt and granola instead for a couple of weeks and see how that goes
