brexit and the tories and those deluded enough to think that voting for them were acting in their own interests. Unless you're a hedge fund manager. Then of course, you weren't deluded.

Dugee · 23/10/2020 20:58

The fact the blue cracknell Quality Street have never returned

Now that is fucking unreasonable. Christmas isn't the same.

nearlynermal I think that corruption has increased recently. I’m thinking of things like government contracts that don’t go out to competitive tender and are never published. The Good Law project is doing some valuable work on this.

England - the existence of grotty shit drug ridden estates, the existence of the nice middle class ones who need the former to exist but won’t live with the consequences; the blind ignorance and belief in how or why the lowest live, and how it has directly worsened due to the actions of the richer; the sexism and degradation of women into sex objects under the lie of ‘empowerment’; the levels of aggression and violence; the lack of regard for fresh air, exercise, education and public services; the value placed on drink, drugs and big money. The hypocrisy, the lies, and overriding necessity to be ‘nice’ and ‘positive’ in the face of it all. I liked Europe.

Brexit, racism and drivers who don't indicate.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 23/10/2020 21:08

Both the country I live and the country in from - the right wing governments

NailsNeedDoing · 23/10/2020 21:09

It’s over inflated sense of self importance, and the ignorance of its own history that causes people to be proud of things they should be ashamed of.

And brexit.

nearlynermal · 23/10/2020 21:15

Yes! The Good Law Project. For anyone who's marched without success or signed a petition and got one of those shitty emails back, I think getting behind these people may be the way to go.

tigger001 · 23/10/2020 21:35

The complete "blatantness" of the governments corruption and disregard of our most venerable.

They have created so much confusion, people questioning themselves, eachother and what is true and not, they have disengaged the public so they hope they just stop questioning and accept this is what we expect.

agradecida · 23/10/2020 21:51

The fact that there are no pubs open. I love the pub. I'm pregnant, so can't even drink (and I also love a few drinks) but I just want to go to the pub.

yikesanotherbooboo · 23/10/2020 21:54

The lack of respect for each other, for the elderly , for children, and for ourselves.

saleorbouy · 23/10/2020 22:09

Traffic lights on roundabouts. Why not put them on the entry points only and adhere to the normal fights of way once on them. The five traffic light changes you have to endure late at night when there is no traffic are just wicked.

saleorbouy · 23/10/2020 22:10

Rights.... fights?

akerman · 23/10/2020 22:35

Brexit.
Corrupt politicians.
The utter cruelty of the current crop of Tories.
Apathy that means our corrupt politicians get away with it.

Boris Johnson

OrtamLeevz · 23/10/2020 22:41

The fact that everybody else seems to hate us. It is not a good time to be English.

nearlynermal · 23/10/2020 22:44

Remember the summer of the London Olympics? I'm sure there must have been some bad things happening too, but I look back on that as such a golden age.

Ginfordinner · 23/10/2020 22:47

Societal inequalities
Caused by the Tory party
AnnieJ1985 · 23/10/2020 22:50

Politicians who climb over each other to bleat about their disgust at our history of mother and baby homes, then vote to seal the records of/from those who were abused by the system.

I am usually pretty positive about living here, but fuck I am fuming about this one.

GoneFishingAgain · 23/10/2020 22:51

Brevity, tories, gross inequalities and that we are not yet independent.
