Me...when I’m feeling extra lazy I use two teabags together rather than pulling them apart so I have leverage to pull the dipped one out and into the bin, instead of using a spoon.

My brother has purchases a film on sky instead of going upstairs to get the dvd. We are all still astonished by that one!!

Anyone else?!

CosyAcorn · 24/10/2020 07:28

I also text DH if I need to tell him something and he's upstairs

Ironing is for weddings and job interviews only.

Deciding to only have one child. Babies are hard work, can't be arsed to go through that again

MadauntofA · 24/10/2020 07:45

Another one who WhatsApps DDs to come downstairs for dinner.
Also yes to chopped onions/ other frozen veg.
Rarely iron, school shirts hang to dry then straight in wardrobe.
DDs (teen and preteen) make their own breakfasts and lunch, dinner for us all also on several days when we are busy - all to encourage their independence and skills obviously Wink

Chaotic45 · 24/10/2020 08:15

@CarlottaValdez what brand of frozen mash would you suggest trying?

letsgomaths · 24/10/2020 08:19

I rarely wear socks with my trainers, all year round. I don't seem to have the usual problems associated with this practice. Wink

Another who uses the same cup and glass through the day. Any day when I don't have to put the dishwasher on is a small victory.

I only wrap small presents: for anything bigger than a shoe box, the recipient is "wrapped up" instead (blindfolded), allowed to have a good feel, and a couple of guesses, before a big reveal. Everyone in the family loves this; and it saves wrapping paper too!

I remember the ways my parents did things similar to other posters: my mum wouldn't even look outside to tell if it was raining. She'd ask instead.

polkadotpjs · 24/10/2020 08:29

Not me but DH fills the dishwasher and pretends to have forgotten to switch it on - so when it's clean he doesn't have to empty it

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 24/10/2020 08:32

I’d pay about £15 a bag to not dice an onion!

Sadly I moved to Denmark a couple of weeks ago and they don’t seem to do it here, people apparently just use knives which is mind blowing! I cut my first onion in about 5y yesterday. All meals will now be onionless Grin

ThatScottishGirl · 24/10/2020 08:40

Doing the school run in my PJs - thankfully I don’t need to get out the car.
Smart bulbs and heating that I can use with Alexa - why would I stretch my arm up to the thermostat directly above my seat when I can tell Alexa to turn it up for me?!

TweeBree · 24/10/2020 09:00

Frozen mash has been a big game changer for me. Tesco's own brand is decent, although I tend to add some spread to it for flavour.

And I also use a chopping board to eat off of - one of the large, flexible plastic mats. Nothing messy, obviously. I take pizza straight out of the oven onto it. It's good for a lazy cheese board or for making sandwiches.

We undress in front of the laundry machine so we don't have a separate laundry basket.

If I'm at home (as we are mostly now) and wearing stretchy, comfy clothes, I wear the same thing to sleep in. Saves laundry.

Haven't been to the Post Office since Covid hit. I pay extra and use couriers. So, as you can imagine my bank account is VERY happy to see the PO is now doing parcel collections!

If I have smelly food to throw out and I can't be arsed to take the rubbish out, I freeze it until I can be bothered.

I have a HUGE bedside table so everything I could ever need is dumped there in arms reach.

I'll post more if I think of them. I'm pretty on top of it with the important stuff, but I love my lazy hacks. Grin

I'm trying to work out if there is a way for Alexa to control the kettle so I can book it from bed in the mornings.
I have kettle ready to go on the smart plug. Switch it on from bed.
RockingMyFiftiesNot · 24/10/2020 09:07

Friends of mine have 2 dishwashers so that they never have to empty it all at once. The clean stuff is taken out to set the table or be reused in food prep or the oven. The other one is for dirty stuff as normal. When it's full, it goes on a wash and the other one finally emptied of the remaining bits (although friend admitted sometimes clean stuff stays in and gets washed again if they can't be bothered) They have multiple sets of cutlery and crockery etc.

SnowHare · 24/10/2020 09:13

@itwaseverthus

Henio I can so relate to your 5 bags of car shit. Every time my car went for service or MOT I'd do the same. CDs, perfume, coins, random shit as you say. It's all still in the garage and the new car is brewing up a new supply as I type. Today noticed a couple of mugs, the usual CDs that multiply, TENS machine and about 800 bags for life. My mum calls my car the Skip on Wheels.
DH calls my car the 'Wheelie Bin'
lotusbell · 24/10/2020 09:14

@InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud, did that myself last night!

SnowHare · 24/10/2020 09:17
@SnowHare whilst I entire my applaud your use of child labour (there was a reason for having them!) I've spent over 10 years working with people with chronic pain and the number one rule I've learnt is that the main treatment is little and often movement. It may take weeks to get improvement but 99% of the time works in the longer run.
sssshhhh...... don;t say that too loudly.... the DCs might hear!

;)

Yes there is! Get a smart plug, there's a brand in Argos that's compatible with Alexa, can't remember the name but they'll tell you. At night, fill kettle, turn on as normal, making sure kettle is plugged into smart kettle. You have to have the plug linked in to Alexa, easy enough. In the morning, shout at Alexa to put the kettle on and voilà- kettle boils while you lie in bed!
Curlygirl06 · 24/10/2020 09:18

Smart plug, not smart kettle!

HappyGG · 24/10/2020 09:36

Corned beef hash in this house for 2 or 3 people.
Turn on the oven to about 160C
Defrost frozen mash in the microwave
Meanwhile, open a tin of corned beef, add some frozen onion and mash it in a large ovenproof bowl.

Open a tin of marrowfat peas and drain out half the juice.
When the mash is unfrozen, add two thirds(ish) of it and the peas to the bowl and mix it altogether.
Put the last third of the mash over the top to stop the peas drying out.
Warm in oven until top is golden and crispy or whenever you're ready to eat.
Eat.

Oh we have 2 microwaves so ready meals are hot at the same time...

TweeBree · 24/10/2020 09:38

Genius!

Salamander91 · 24/10/2020 09:58

DH does the washing and leaves my clean clothes in a bag for life. I wear all my clothes out of the bag because I cba putting it away Blush

MJMG2015 · 24/10/2020 10:09

@Tiredmummy2014

Doesn't everyone do this with the mug and glass... 😳
No. I usually end up looking like I've had a party!!
HappeBee · 24/10/2020 10:38

You are my tribe!
Many familiar habits.
I turn my underwear inside out to extend time to wash. Eww; but is it really. Eco friendly if everyone did it.

How is life in Denmark going?

How are you getting on with the bike now?

AaronCardigan · 24/10/2020 11:22

@Whererainfalls

I get myself one clean mug and one clean glass in the morning and use the same ones throughout the day without washing them. Meh.

I also very often use the breadboard as a plate if I'm having a sandwich, and then just throw the crumbs off and put it back afterwards.

I'm all about being ecological, doncha know.

I'm stealing the breadboard one. Genius!
Lemonpizza · 24/10/2020 11:24

I never peel potatoes. Ever. Even when roasting or mashing. Why would you? The goodness is in the skin

And also am just lazy with disabilities that cause chronic pain

Giggorata · 24/10/2020 11:38

@Mylittlesandwich

I iron so infrequently I don't know where the iron is. I cleverly bought iron in name tags for DS starting nursery and rather than look for the iron I used my straighteners to put them on.
This is my favourite...😂
PyongyangKipperbang · 24/10/2020 11:41

I like Iceland mash, and I have tried them all! Although I add a bit of butter to it.

YY to buying anything that needs chopping. They often can work out a bit cheaper too if not in purchase price but in waste. The kids dont like mushrooms for example, so if I buy a punnet I will probably only use half and the rest will go bad. With frozen ones, I just use what I need.
