Me...when I’m feeling extra lazy I use two teabags together rather than pulling them apart so I have leverage to pull the dipped one out and into the bin, instead of using a spoon.

My brother has purchases a film on sky instead of going upstairs to get the dvd. We are all still astonished by that one!!

Anyone else?!

@Aroundtheworldin80moves get a smart plug, plug your kettle into that. Switch off the smart plug before bed but switch the kettle on. In the morning ask Alexa to switch on the plug! (Note I haven't tried this but I'm pretty confident)

SlopesOff · 23/10/2020 23:30

I use a small chopping board for toast, brush the crumbs off and use it later for sandwiches, brush crumbs off again and use it for veg or salad. If it is still clean it gets used to cut lemons for drinks. When the lemon is finished the board goes in the dishwasher.

This only works in the winter when the kitchen is cool for hygiene reasons, in summer all the boards get used and put in the dishwasher within a day.

I'm another who has smart light bulbs connected to alexa.
I also have a robot hoover connected to akexa aswell.

Mu mum looked at me in horror as I sat with a glass of wine and instructed akexa to start the hoover.

A week.later she asked me how to set up a robot hoover Grin

MrsChicken89 · 23/10/2020 23:39

@TooManyButtons yeah I got one for the living room lamp too. Im now wondering what else I can add to it haha.

30not13 · 23/10/2020 23:50

Cleanse my face with a wipe and then use that wipe to clean the sink.or the loo before I bin it Blush I have been called a disgusting slattern on mn before for admitting that.

I'm also another sock moonwalker Grin

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/10/2020 23:50

Am I the only person who chooses their night attire with the next days school run in mind then?

B&M Thermal Leggings (4.99) plus big t shirt, then coat over the top. Job done!

MadameBlobby · 23/10/2020 23:53

Put the dishwasher on again as I can’t be arsed emptying it

CaterwaulingPeasant · 23/10/2020 23:56

😂 Snap on all the tea laziness

TokyoSushi · 23/10/2020 23:57

Stamp on something like a crisp on the floor so it can go up the hoover, rather than bending it over to pick it up. Applies to anything that can be made hoover sized.

FerrisB · 24/10/2020 00:02

Leave clothes washing on clothes horse until my mum pops round and asks if i need anything doing (I'm in my forties with several kids of my own Blush)

SlopesOff · 24/10/2020 00:05

I sweep the birdseed that falls off the scoop into a little pile, with anything that has been walked in from the garden, like leaves, twigs etc. and put the dustpan and brush in front of it, it is one of the tall ones. It gets swept up when the floor is swept properly.

DoomPoodle · 24/10/2020 00:06

You can use a smart plug on a kettle. Just fill the kettle and leave it switched on after you've used it. I shout Alexa to put the kettle on and when it's boiled I say kettle off and the plug turns off. Brilliant!

RaisedbySloths · 24/10/2020 00:06

Text one of the teens to come downstairs to the living room and when they get there I ask them to go and put the kettle on. Grin

Toontown · 24/10/2020 00:14

@SnowHare whilst I entire my applaud your use of child labour (there was a reason for having them!) I've spent over 10 years working with people with chronic pain and the number one rule I've learnt is that the main treatment is little and often movement. It may take weeks to get improvement but 99% of the time works in the longer run.

starfishmummy · 24/10/2020 00:19

Make DS change channels for me as we have to use the buttons on the tv. Well he's the one who has destroyed several remote controls...

VaggieMight · 24/10/2020 00:33

Some of these aren't lazy at all, just good life tips (ready chopped herbs and veg, using scissors instead of a knife and reusing a chopping board or using kitchen towel).

I've started making homemade cards because going to the shop just for a card feels like a huge deal. I'm not sure if that's really a laziness one, but it feels like it is as I CBA to go to the shop (WFH now as opposed to being in the office).

I was at work once and did think my colleague was pretty lazy when she stayed seated in her chair and 'walked' to the photocopier which was 2m away by pulling herself along with her feet.

Peacenquiet2 · 24/10/2020 00:48

I rarely close the kitchen cupboards because they will only need opening again soon

supersplodge · 24/10/2020 00:55

Fully support the use of child labour (as a PP said, why else do we have them.....Grin)

We make ours (pre teens) get out of the car to open grandma's gate so we can drive in, and often get them to fetch us drinks from the fridge! We also make them cut the grass (on a ride-on mower so not a great hardship). If they moan we remind them that you don't buy a dog to bark yourself.....Smile!

choosername1234 · 24/10/2020 01:01

@Sparklfairy

Just remembered another one. I cut meat and certain veg (mushrooms, celery etc) with kitchen scissors directly over the pan to avoid getting the chopping board out and fannying around with a knife.

Buy everything frozen veg wise that I can. Can't be doing with cutting onions or chopping peppers.

I use kitchen scissors to cut pizzas. So much less fiddling than a knife or pizza cutting tool
Gingerkittykat · 24/10/2020 01:18

Google home is ideal for lazy people. I ask it the time rather than look round at the clock, also send messages to people in different rooms of the house rather than walk for 30 seconds to talk to them directly. I am absolutely in love with my smart bulbs too.

TW2013 · 24/10/2020 04:08

I What's App dd for food rather than go upstairs and knock on her door. In my defence it is a disproportionately long way, I then know she has the messge, her siblings can't always be persuaded and I am of course preparing the food. In fact because dh is also often in his man cave we have a dedicated chat for it with everyone on.

im5050 · 24/10/2020 04:52

My DH will do the late night time dog walk in his dressing gown and trainers as he can’t be bothered to get dressed 😂 he did do it in flip flops but after having to chase a dog once he decided trainers were better
It’s ok in the winter nights but not in the summer night
Neighbours just think he’s a bit eccentric

im5050 · 24/10/2020 04:53

I use scissors to cut up meat rather than use a knife

Kote · 24/10/2020 07:16

Another vote for using kitchen scissors for cutting up almost anything instead of chopping/slicing! I wouldn't call it lazy though.

CarlottaValdez · 24/10/2020 07:27

I love cooking and make really elaborate things but for some reason I refuse to mash a potato. Frozen forever.
