Fuck fuck fuck. I was 10st 11 at the beginning of lockdown and felt like that was too big! My size 14s are groaning and I feel gross.

I'm planning to cut my carbs, plus cut out as much sugar as possible. Have downloaded the couch to 5k app. Any other tips from people a similar weight, which has actually worked?!

OP posts:
couchparsnip · 22/10/2020 19:01

Don't feel too bad. I am a similar height and currently heavier

However I have lost 1st 9lbs recently. The way I did it is just what you already know. Eat less move more.
I have around 1200-1400 calories a day and do exercise. I've been swimming or walking for about an hour a day. I use an app to count calories and weigh my food. Eg if a cereal serving size is 40g then that's what I'll have.
It's boring but it works!

Bubbletrouble43 · 22/10/2020 19:03

Yes! I'm also 5 ft 3 and lockdown pushed me from 10st 7 to 11 st 7. I decided to do something about it in early August. I am now 10st 4, aiming for 10st. What I am doing-
Fast from 8pm to noon ie ate all my calories in an 8hour window
STOPPED ALL SNACKING I eat lunch and an evening meal. I do enjoy the odd glass of wine and I have dessert on Sundays
Watched my portion sizes, basically didn't stuff my face past the point of not being hungry
Cut out sugar wherever possible except for aforementioned dessert on Sundays
It can be done x
Ps I hate exercise and never do it

Sexnotgender · 22/10/2020 19:03

Drink plenty of water, only eat when you’re hungry and eat consciously. Don’t mindlessly graze.
Don’t surf the net while necking Pringles 😂

SapatSea · 22/10/2020 19:06

Me too OP! same situation. I'm about to cut out or drastically cut down on carbs as cutting calories doesn't seem to work so well for me ( as then I just seem to skip meals and eat 3 or 4 biscuits instead). I'm a total sugar addict. My eldest DD marvels at the healthy meals I make for me to squander it all on my love of chocolate.

SapatSea · 22/10/2020 19:08

Pringles are the work of the devil. Kryptonite! my uni aged kids keep bringing them in the house. Resistence is futile.

I’m lucky I don’t like them. Sweet chilli kettle chips however 😍
Idbemonica1 · 22/10/2020 19:21

Same here OP. This time last year i had lost a stone and was happy with my weight. The only thing that works for me is to stick to 1200 calories daily slightly more 1500 at weekends and at least 3 half hour workouts a week. I joined Davina own your goals and really liked it although i stuck to the gentler workouts as i have back issues.
With a houseful due to lockdown i got out of the habit of exercising and along with a serious biscuit habit i have regained it all plus a bit more!

So i started again last week 🤭

ilovespinach · 22/10/2020 20:39

Back in May I was 13.2 stone. At 5'4 that gave me a bmi of 32!

I started intermittent fasting, a mix of 18/6 or 16/8. I also started eating cleanly so lots of salad, now it's colder soups, omelettes etc. I still eat cake sometimes and also have pizza once a week. I also started at least 10k steps a day and go to the gym a few times a week. I don't religiously count calories but I try to eat smaller portions and have more of an understanding the amount I can eat to loose/maintain.

This morning I weighed in at 10.5 stone. Still like to loose another stone but the change is obvious and I desperately need some new jeans 😀

Read up about fasting. I really recommend it.

Smallgoon · 22/10/2020 20:46

I'm 5'2 and weigh 48kg. Not to make you feel bad but I believe I'm a healthy weight.

edwinbear · 22/10/2020 21:14

I’m 5’5 and was 10st 9 when we went into lockdown in March. This morning I was 9st 8. For me, it’s been using my FitBit and FitBit app religiously. I make sure I’m at my target calories every day. Depending on my activity levels I can usually eat between 1200-1400 calories per day. So today, we were out and had Five Guys for lunch, 1300 calories, so I’ve not eaten anything else.

I make sure I do my 10k steps and if I do eat over my ‘allowance’ I go out and walk it off until I’m within my allowance again. I’ve also been doing 8-10 gym classes a week since they started again.

It’s been mind blowingly dull and tedious, but since we’ve been able to meet up with people again the comments about how well I look have made it worth it Smile

@Smallgoon what is the point of your post exactly?
GlummyMcGlummerson · 22/10/2020 21:31

I'm starting to shed the half stone I put in over lockdown by:

Stopping snacking. Unless it's fruit. This has been the hardest thing for me to do but it only took a couple of weeks to get used to.

I only eat until I'm no longer hungry, rather than until im full

Cutting out sugary drinks altogether.

No more takeaways or fast food. I still have meats, cheeses, bread etc but I've reduced my portion sizes

This is all with minimal exercise

Oblomov20 · 22/10/2020 21:32

I've put on a stone. Very unhappy and cross with myself.

Whatatoodoodle · 22/10/2020 21:33

That’s not horrendous. I’ve been that at the same height and now happily float around 9-9 1/2. Just needs a bit of a change of mindset.

monkeytennis97 · 22/10/2020 21:42

I'm 5'5 and weigh 12 stone 11lbs and I'm feeling the slimmest I have in 20 years😂💪Main reason is that I was pushing 18 stone in March.

Good luck getting to your desired weight- I can't wait to be your weight😊 but I do totally get the feeling of discomfort and loathing which is horrible, I'm sure you'll reach your goal, go for it!Smile

Zebrasandfairytales · 22/10/2020 21:44

I’m 5’3 OP - on July 7th I weighed 17st 10,
I’m now 13st10. I bought the Fast800 book and read it in a day, I joined the Facebook support page and haven’t looked back. I lost 12lbs in the first week. This has been so positive for me and I feel so much better. Obviously my starting weight was much greater than you are now though.

Essentially, I’ve been doing Time Restricted Eating 18:6, no sugar, white refined carbs, minimal
alcohol, just done hiit dance once a week. Xx

Aww, aren't you an inspiration 😍
Smallgoon · 22/10/2020 21:54

@Pertella Thanks. Everything in moderation Smile

GlummyMcGlummerson · 22/10/2020 23:29

@Smallgoon I think she was being sarcastic.

Really don't know why you posted that your 4 stone slimmer than the OP other than to gloat?

feelingsomewhatlost · 23/10/2020 01:39

I woke up absolutely chuffed this morning because I'm 5'3 and weigh 11st 12 😂 but at the start of the year I was 15st! The goal is to get to 9st 7 by next summer. I started the C25K in June and can now run 10K OP, it's amazing and so rewarding, I hope you enjoy it – really good for flattening down your tummy a bit too. Good luck :)

grassisjeweled · 23/10/2020 01:47

If you do snack, pick healthy ones :

Cottage cheese
Hard boiled eggs
Veg sticks and hummus
No sugar fruit compte I. E. Apple sauce with no sugar added
Homemade lentil and veg soup

Don't drink your calories! Avoid milky drinks, alcohol and full fat soda. If you have milk, count it in your calories : a cup of milk is around 100 cals.

^^
Great achievement! Wow! 💐

Gohackyourself · 23/10/2020 10:24

I’ve put on 11lb since March and although been working and doing 10000 steps or more a day , I’m not doing the 70 flights of stairs I had to do as my job has changed slightly for now.
It obviously proves it was doing me good.
I’m eating no more than before although did get diagnosed with high bp end of August and now on tablets which seem to have added 5lb ?!?!
Gotta hit it hard next week going to do slim fast for tea aswell as fasting

lilfoxfur · 23/10/2020 13:36

Ah thanks for the great advice and motivation everyone!

My arse is my problem. From the front I'm fairly slim, people probably wouldn't think my weight is what it is. But my arse is like the backend of a Juggernaut. Anyone have this issue? Any specific exercises one can do to reduce arse size?

OP posts:
AuldFox · 23/10/2020 14:29

You can’t spot reduce fat I’m afraid. You can tone it up a bit. I wish I could spot reduce my boobs, I’d go down a dress size!

Good luck from another 5’3 person Smile we have a thread on weight loss forum called “from now till Christmas” where we are all trying to lose a few, all sizes and heights welcome!
