WFH? Tell me what you do in your lunch break

...If you get one of course! I'm trying to make a concerted effort to step away from my laptop and have a proper break, rather than working through with a sandwich. So I'm interested to hear what others do to take a proper break from work, ready to start the afternoon fresh. Here are some of the things I do:

Sit in my bedroom chair with my kindle
Go for a half hour walk
Fit in a swim at the gym (need a long lunch break for this)

Feel slightly guilty that I don't sit with my husband and enjoy lunch together but somehow feel like a need a break from 'people' if I've been on video calls all morning - am I alone in this?

Nap or watch Netflix. You sound much more productive than me Blush

I often sit and have lunch with DH, but agree that sometimes it’s nice to have peace and quiet! I like spending the time to make a really nice lunch too, something like soup and a warm roll, or a nice fresh salad.

I sometimes use lunchtime to prep tea - marinate chicken, chop veg etc.

Jokie · 21/10/2020 12:51

I go for a run or walk the dogs

Dazedandconfused10 · 21/10/2020 12:52

If I manage one I catch up on housework, or game or read. Not had the opportunity recently!

sittingonacornflake · 21/10/2020 12:53

Headphones in and take a power walk along the coast. Try to get in some hills for extra calorie burn because I eat too much cake and drink too much wine (not whilst WFH 😁)

MoneyWhatMoney · 21/10/2020 12:54

When DH was home we had lunch together which was nice but as he was bored he was cooking a lot so we ended up eating unhealthy stuff.
Now he's at work I take the dog for a walk - if I don't I end up sitting at my desk, eating mindlessly and working.
I'm in a fairly new job (promotion) and my head is pretty frazzled by lunch and getting outside is really helping, although one day last week I had a headache so I spent my lunch break napping in bed.

PhilCornwall1 · 21/10/2020 12:55

Take 10 minutes to eat something, then back to it.

ComtesseDeSpair · 21/10/2020 12:56

Depends. I try to go for a run three lunchtimes a week although sometimes will go in the morning instead; we’ve also had quite a bit of lunchtime sex; sometimes I time the washing machine so that it will be ready to unload during lunchtime. I almost never actually use the time to eat lunch and relax, though.

Mixed bag, really!

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 21/10/2020 12:56

Have lunch and watch Judge Judy! I only get half an hour so by the time I’ve eaten and watched a bit of tv it’s time to go back (wfh)

ThePerfectRose · 21/10/2020 12:56

Have a bath, take a nap, get dinner started, cook lunch, Netflix or something equally as unproductive.

I love working from home.

Coriandersucks · 21/10/2020 13:00

Jealous of the lunchtime sex!

I tend to work through my half hour lunch as I take little breaks throughout the day eg 7 minute workout, load some washing, empty dishwasher, stare at my phone etc so I feel a bit guilty taking lunch as well.

FatGirlShrinking · 21/10/2020 13:06

I do an exercise video, the intensity of the workout depends heavily on how many annoying twats I've had to deal with in the run up to lunch. A good morning and I might do some yoga, a bad morning and I do a cardio or box-fit with VERY loud music in my headphones.

Bluesheep8 · 21/10/2020 13:07

Eat
Go for a walk
Start getting tea ready

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 21/10/2020 13:15

Love that @FatGirlShrinking, I find a good spin class gets those frustrations out!

Eat in the canteen and get back to work...simples 👍

baggedforlife · 21/10/2020 13:18

Oh god I didn't see the WFH part...never mind 🤣🤣

Camomila · 21/10/2020 13:19

DH sits with me and the baby (sorry!) we all have lunch together and watch a bit of tv.

Egghead68 · 21/10/2020 13:19

Eat, couch to 5K, work, surf the internet, cleaning, online shopping, read, listen to the radio

dolphinpose · 21/10/2020 13:19

I do the sudoku, wordsearch and quick crossword in the Guardian. Every bloody day. I really should do a HIIT 10 minute work out instead. But every day the games page calls...

imarocketman50 · 21/10/2020 13:21

I watch an episode of Friends while I eat lunch so I'm away from my computer

Yesyoudoknowme · 21/10/2020 13:21

I only get half an hour and want peace and quiet so DH and I stagger our lunchtimes as he watches TV. I make a sandwich and read a (real) book, trying to get away from screens all the time because I am really bad at playing on my phone in the evening whilst watching TV.

wejammin · 21/10/2020 13:21

Eat, put load of washing on, unload dishwasher, hoover...god my life is tedious

ColleagueFromMars · 21/10/2020 13:22

Quite often I take a nap Grin

QueenPaws · 21/10/2020 13:23

30 mins so make food, eat, toilet, make a brew and back to work!

MidnightFlit · 21/10/2020 13:23

Eat lunch with DH, watch the 1 o'clock news, feel depressed, take the dogs out. Feel better.
