Where does one get one of those babies..

... that have a feed, burp, lie down in the pram and fall asleep?

My first one didnt come from that variety. I ordered one for my 2nd. She is only small (10 days) but at the moment she essentially feeds ALL THE TIME and then needs to be rocked to sleep in the sling.

Does anyone know if I can exchange? The 1st one nearly killed me. I dont know if I can do this again.

DS2 was the second, but he is now 2 and still doesn't sleep through the night. Or stay in his bed. Or sleep peacefully at all - he prefers to rotate while kicking one of us in the head/chest/balls.

I wondered that too OP as many of my friends seemed to have them but I got three of the type that I had to be juggling and who all subscribed to the "sleep is for wimps" school of thought. But they did metamorphose into the most trouble free teenagers that you can imagine. I think I have done quite well not to brag about that to my "friends" who were very free with their advice as to where I was going wrong with my babies/toddlers as now their teens are running them ragged. Grin
Some of the ones that seem to malfunction early on never have another problem once the teethingvtroubles are sorted, whereas others are great to start with but as soon as the 12 month warranty is up, that's it, non stop trouble. I hope you have no long term maintenance issues with yours.

Dd2 was one of those babies. Hardly knew I had her really. Napped beautifully during the day, slept well at night from about 10 weeks (although did have a 4am feed til she was 6 months) and rarely cried.

Dd1, on the other hand, is 12 now and still doesn't sleep through the night.

Sevo7 · 20/10/2020 20:05

My nearly 2 year old is still in 4th trimester! Won’t sleep unless I’m touching her and sleeps in my bed. Wants to be carried and attached to me all the time and points at my tummy longingly and says “ in there” Grin

Tbh I knew I’d I have problems with this particular model from the moment she was born. All the other babies slept contently on the post natal ward only waking for feeds, whilst DD screamed like a banshee if I so much of dared to put her down for a second. There was a strict no babies in the bed at night rule on the ward, they had to sleep in their crib. By night 3 (Was there 6 nights) the midwives stopped saying anything to me as they knew she’d scream all night and disturb everyone else Grin

Dd16 was born in a foul mood and has been that way since. High maintenance. Didnt like the carseat, pram, play mat or being held! Wanted to exchange within the first 28 days. Dd10 and ds2 are the opposite. I was the lady in the cafe eating cake and drinking coffee with two hands. I wasnt smug though as I was always on edge thinking they might turn into dd17 baby mode.

Mumshappy · 20/10/2020 20:19

Not dd17 shes 16 but nearly 17.

Petitmum · 20/10/2020 21:13

I order one of those babies and was delighted with my delivery. I was so impressed that I ordered another two years later but that one was defective and they wouldn't allow an exchange!

Rockandgrohl · 20/10/2020 21:30

I got a faulty one too...screamed none stop for 6 months but they wouldn't let me exchange. Couldnt find where to take the batteries out to stop the noise??? I also tried to part exchange many times within the first year but for some strange reason everyone assumed i was jokingHmm Didnt nap, sleep or let me put it down ever!!! Still hasn't slept through the night....im too frightened to order another yet incase i get yet another faulty model ...

OhToBeASeahorse · 20/10/2020 21:33

I wish I had had the same fear. I had the same logic as @Hardbackwriter

Oh I'm so glad to read it's not just me that does this!!! Cashiers, random strangers, people who walk too close and any and all people who comment on the rather angelic looking broken model are all offered the chance to take him home free of charge no exchange of goods needed and yet each one without fail assumes its some sort of humourous attempt at small talk. DS2 is one! Happy, smiley, breastfed and weaning easily...I had to go through 7m of hyperemesis to get him though!

bonzo77 · 20/10/2020 21:47

My first two were faulty too. Especially the second. Third one was exactly as described in the catalogue with eyes that closed when he was laid down. I’d have a third so you get a chance at a proper one.

Tinty · 20/10/2020 21:53

@Rockandgrohl

My first Ds was faulty, so faulty he didn’t sleep through the night, and woke up between 4-5 every morning FOR SEVEN FLIPPING YEARS. It took that long before I was willing to try for another. I had DD when DS was just eight, she was so easy she slept for the first six months. I had to
wake her up every 4 hours (in the daytime! Shock), to feed her, I once left her to see if she would wake up naturally, I woke her up when she got to five hours. I was worried that there was something wrong. after my experience with DS, so I took her to the health visitor at 12 weeks old and said she sleeps all the time, surely this is wrong. She said you are just really lucky, she is just a really easy baby. Grin

And for all those people who say sleep train or feed them differently or do this, that or the other and your child will sleep, they are wrong. I tried everything with DS and it made no difference. I didn’t do anything different with DD and she slept perfectly.

Different temperaments seems to me to be only difference in whether you have an easy or --(faulty)-- difficult baby.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/10/2020 21:54

just be careful what you wish for. some of the ones that perform well initially can malfunction at a later date. some of the ones that malfunction initially get a software upgrade that restores them to easy mode. faulty one is currently undergoing an upgrade with rapid growth and change of shape.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/10/2020 21:59

12 month warranty troubles! yep that's the one.

it appears that the operators who are trying to upgrade the software installed are having trouble as well. It is not working well.
