I know life is a bit shit just now and people are feeling a bit rubbish, but there has to be other things to be happy and grateful about.

I will start

I am happy with how my OU course is going and even though I am nearly 50 I am really proud I am giving it a go.
I also feel proud that my 16 yr old has reached out to a friend who is having a tough time even though they don't really have much contact any more.

Wow! @HereIgoagainagain well done to you! I have a funny education history and even though I am professionally qualified, I have never gained a degree and do you know what, I think I might just go ahead with it now because I too am in my 50's.

And your daughter sounds delightful. I am having a very hard time at the moment and it is funny but oh so wonderful when people you never ever expected to give you support do.

Tess3 · 19/10/2020 20:03

Lovely post look forward to reading the replies 😀

AbsolutWitch · 19/10/2020 20:05

Well done @HereIgoagainagain.

I'm thinking hard.....

Redwolf1 · 19/10/2020 20:06

Ovely thread I'd op.

After lots of faffing about from colleges I managed to get onto an online course, the work is hard and I'm scared but I'm loving it and want to be able to come out of the other side of covid ready for a new career

I've also just toilet trained my 2yo. Shes took to it like a duck to water and I'm so proud of her

Echobelly · 19/10/2020 20:06

I found out I'm not being made redundant, which is a big relief!

Newbeginningsnow · 19/10/2020 20:07

Well done OP!
We got married last week and it’s just been lovely.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 19/10/2020 20:08

I got a pair of jeans that fit me yesterday. Without even being able to try them on in the shop. I am oddly proportioned & rarely get jeans to fit.

Also, my kale has suddenly started to really sprout up. I've never had a garden before. It's lovely!

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 20:09

I’m passing my Masters averaging a First.

I’ve stopped drinking alcohol - 68 days sober so far.

I’ve completed C25K and am running and exercising regularly.

I’m losing weight through counting calories.

TheRealJeanLouise · 19/10/2020 20:11

I did a degree through OU OP and every completed TMA is a huge achievement. All power to you Flowers

I’ve made a dent in my Xmas shopping. Usually due to time and money restraints I leave it to almost the last minute and it’s stressful and depressing. This year I feel productive and in control. It feels good.

TheRealJeanLouise · 19/10/2020 20:12

Congratulations @Newbeginningsnow Flowers

AbsolutWitch · 19/10/2020 20:12

Ok......I'm happy with how my DC are doing. DD about to buy flat with her DP, and DS1 seems to have found his passion at college. DS2 is a happy little chap.

I have a secure job

I have a UK holiday to look forward to next year (hopefully)

Things could be a lot worse 😊

Suzi888 · 19/10/2020 20:15

Me and DH have a secure job.
The lump I found on my Labrador turned out to be fat and nothing sinister.

PeaceAndHarmoneeee · 19/10/2020 20:18

What a lovely idea for a thread! Congratulations on the studying results, weddings, lovely children etc!

So for me:
My job seems to be safe and despite setting up his own business just before lockdown 🤦🏻‍♀️DP is doing ok work wise.
Everyone is happy and healthy, we had Covid and got through it ok even though it took me months to feel well again.
DC sports club is open - their favourite thing!
I've changed the bedding today and cannot wait to get into a greasy new bed!

LemonadePockets · 19/10/2020 20:19

This is lovely refreshing thread!

So.. the business I got up and running slap bang in the middle of a pandemic is thriving and in month 5 has started making a profit!

My 4yr old has been working hard at her little class she goes to for school prep and is currently on level 3 of Songbird Phonics Books and I am on very proud mum to a hard working little girl.

We’re healthy with food in the fridge and a roof
Over our heads.

Thanks OP, nice to focus on the good bits.

Bluewavescrashing · 19/10/2020 20:20

I've just gone back to working full time (teacher) and I love it! Money is better than PT too.

TawnyPippit · 19/10/2020 20:29

My DS started at university in September and is really enjoying it. He was supposed to be having a year out but brought it forward. He is in a flat/bubble of 12 people and I am so impressed with how they all seem to be making the best of it, plus students just make me laugh with their cheerful inventiveness.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 19/10/2020 20:31

I came 2nd in a recent camera club competition.

Ds is doing well at school and seems to be more sociable and less anxious now his adhd meds have been changed.

I can't think of anything else!

HereIgoagainagain · 19/10/2020 20:32

Yay to all the lovely things .
I work in a secondary school and I keep talking to students about trying to look at the positives instead of overly focusing on the negatives and I thought I should take my own advice.

It helps , thank you all for sharing

HereIgoagainagain · 19/10/2020 20:38

@reddiamond you really should , I am thoroughly enjoying it. Writing an essay after over 30 years is a shock however!
@SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness good fitting jeans is always a wonderful thing
Congrats to all on the studying and the potty training and the not being made redundant. The weddings and the not being made redundant (phew)

Oh gosh, bloody Labradors and their fatty lumps @Suzi888! Glad your pooch is ok. We had a terrible time with ours and fatty lumps. In the end you sort of get used to recognising them and you stop worrying.

Afonavon · 19/10/2020 20:40

Now that our neighbour has moved, our cat has moved back home.

I am enjoying my new weightloss plan, finally not hungry after 30 years of diets (Fast 800).

MrsGrindah · 19/10/2020 20:46

Great idea ( I’m finding my colleagues keep bringing the conversation down at the moment so it’s nice to have a positive conversation for a change!)
Big stuff- I’m healthy, job is safe and I have a lovely home
Little stuff - birthday this week, new dress for it ( although I will only be sitting on the sofa!) an event I didn’t want to go to has been cancelled, I like my new pillows, I have a new chocolate bar to try this weekend!

MrsGrindah · 19/10/2020 20:46

Oh and DH!

Floralnomad · 19/10/2020 20:47

RCB are doing really well in the IPL , which makes a change because they are usually rubbish .

Toebarb · 19/10/2020 20:53

After a period about a year ago when I wasn't really enjoying my job and was looking around for a new one, I'm back to loving it. I'm so pleased!
