I haven't heard any mention of her since she tested positive.

Of course she's ok

We know this because if she was unwell Trump would be using this for political capital Hmm

nosswith · 19/10/2020 13:46

I think she should be left in peace. As should Carrie Symonds. They are not politicians and in Melania's case did not marry someone who was when they married.

NiceGerbil · 19/10/2020 13:47

I very much doubt she's ok being married to him.

Pumperthepumper · 19/10/2020 13:50

I agree with this but I have to say, I find them absolutely fascinating. I’d love to read a book about their relationships with those men, what they love about them, what attracted them to them etc. That sounds like I’m being sarky but I’m honestly not.
AriettyHomily · 19/10/2020 13:53

I've just heard a cracking conspiracy theory that she was about to leave him, he couldn't handle it so invented that he had CV. She doesn't have it and is in hiding.

Who the fuck knows. I hope she is ok though.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/10/2020 13:54

I’d also be totally fascinated to be a fly on the wall in their relationship

eleventylevennamechanges · 19/10/2020 14:02

I have a huge amount of sympathy for her. I hope she is ok. Her life must be very stressful.

OP posts:
Samcro · 19/10/2020 14:06

wow do people really have sympathy for her??
was it an arranged marriage and I missed that.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 19/10/2020 14:10

No sympathy here. She knew who she was marrying. I also don't think she has a right to be left alone. Unlike here when we elect a party and are stuck with their leader, the US President is chosen as an individual and they are always sold to the voters as the whole package - that means their wives and children are elected as a First Family every bit as much as the President and MT will have been well aware of it.

eleventylevennamechanges · 19/10/2020 14:11

I think she would have left him if he hadn't been voted in tbh.

@Pumperthepumper you'd enjoy this then, Valérie Trierweiler's memoir of her relationship with Francois Hollande. Really interesting book by an intelligent woman with her own life and career and yet got sucked in to a relationship with a famous and powerful politician who moved on and dumped her, and how she recovered from the fallout. It's well written too. Def worth a read.

People like you fascinate me, OP. All the people in the world and you focus your concern and sympathy on one of the most privileged, married to one of the most harmful.

ColleagueFromMars · 19/10/2020 14:17

Sympathy for her??! Maybe if she has covid badly, but I can't have much sympathy for her being in a relationship with trump. She did that to herself, and it wasn't exactly for his looks or kind personality now was it. Hmm

eleventylevennamechanges · 19/10/2020 14:17

Unmarckedbythat
You know nothing about me.
You have no idea of anything in my life experience.
That is such an unpleasant and rude comment.

ReggaetonLente · 19/10/2020 14:23

I always felt a bit... not sorry for her, but sympathetic that her life hasn't panned out how she might have expected.

She married an ageing millionaire, probably hoping for a life of long lunches and holidays and not having to worry about much. Now she's First Lady to a megalomaniac.

CormoranStrike · 19/10/2020 14:26

I don’t think she can possibly have imagined her life and marriage would turn out like this.

YellowJellyfish · 19/10/2020 14:28

PP can I ask why you feel sorry for her? Genuinely not goading. If I feel anything for her it's contempt.

Do you think she married him because she loved him? Would she have married him if he was a delivery driver at Asda?

In my awful Judgy McJudgy eyes, she's just a high end sex worker. Can not see anything to feel sorry about. Am I vile???

TheSeedsOfADream · 19/10/2020 14:29

It's not as if she married a normal fella who then became proper barmy is it?
She must have known she was marrying an insane Machiavellian conspiracy theorist with delusions of grandeur (and everything else)

noseresearch · 19/10/2020 14:31

Frazzled2207 · 19/10/2020 14:35

I don't feel sorry for her at all. I'm pretty sure we should expect to hear of a divorce as soon as trump is kicked out. I'm sure she'll end up with a decent financial settlement.

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 19/10/2020 14:41

I suspect she's a lot smarter than she is given credit for. I naively had more sympathy for her as someone who probably never expected to be married to a politician until I heard the taped conversations of her with her ex advisor. She sounds as vile as him and I suspect has her own "pension plan " worked out !!

AlternativePerspective · 19/10/2020 14:50

No sympathy here. She knew what she was marrying and she did so anyway.

She’ll probably divorce him because he’s so far in debt there’s essentially no money left.

But she’s sold herself to him, you can’t convince me she married him for love. I have nothing but contempt for these women who marry men for their money, and who look past the people they clearly are.

Meh, on balance I think probably far less rude and unpleasant than the antics of Melania Trump's husband.
sorryforswearing · 19/10/2020 16:02

Her body language has kept me entertained for years. She’s never looked like she’s enjoying being First Lady and she certainly doesn’t look as if she’s enjoying being married to him. She’s a clever woman though I’m sure she’ll be fine.
