Help me identify this song based on barely any helpful clues...?

- I’m pretty sure it’s from the 80’s - male vocalist - mainly a 4 note piano tune - slow-ish tempo - got quite a dark kind of vibe, along the lines of The Smiths

Can’t remember any of the words at all- I heard it in a busy restaurant last night and I knew that I knew it and liked it, attempted to Shazam it but there was too much background noise and the song finished before I could record any of it. Tempted to call the restaurant and ask what playlist they use!

It’s not Only You, it’s slower... the bit I sang is the piano part, I think I got the tempo about right, the key might be slightly lower though. It’s got quite a moody feel to it.
