Anyone want to chat nice stuff on a Saturday morning and pretend all the madness has gone away

I'm sat in bed with a coffee
It's been a crap week
It will likely get crapper soon with some form of significant lockdown here in Wales
I need to chat nice stuff and cling on to the positives and focus on all the nice shit I'm going to buy to make my house spectacularly sparkly and cosy this winter
I'm meeting a friend later in the park for coffee and cake
And then fish and chips in the pub with DH
And tonight is strictly night with DD

It’s DH’s birthday.
We have a huge fuck off chocolate cake. 😊

I cleaned my house yesterday. It’s still relatively clean & tidy this morning. I love modern miracles me.

Thinking of doing Halloween in my wee caravan on the drive for little ds. Might decorate it and have a wee party tea in it & put on a Halloween movie for a bit of a do for him. Excited about buying decorations and fairy lights to make it lovely.

Today, I’m going to wear one of my “nice” outfits. You know the sort. Saved for “best”, but I actually don’t have a “best”, so fuck it, I’m going to wear something nice today.

Oh that cake....just saying.

I'm sat in front of the fire with shoot me Baileys coffee and my phone after I got up this morning and just thought ENOUGH. I have a job I have a home and I can look after myself and if I'm single for the rest of my life that's not my loss. So, baileys coffee, a fire, a comfy chair, and later I'll take the dog out in the woods. I sound like my Nan and it's great Smile

burglarbettybaby · 17/10/2020 08:45

That sounds like a lovely day op.
I'm in the middle of upcycling a piece of furniture for dcs room and so excited about it. It's turning out better than I thought it would. I made a curry last night so all I have to do it cook rice so a nice lunch for us. So looking forward to Strictly tonight.

MysweetAudrina · 17/10/2020 08:48

Awake a while. About to do my daily online yoga class. In the middle of redecorating our bedroom and en-suite, have a box of flooring, tiling and headboard to fit today. In ROI and recommendation with Government to put Country into highest level of restrictions for 6 weeks so if this happens only essential retailers will be open, so I will probably pick up a few bits from shops that don't offer online services but which are likely to be closed.

TheTempest · 17/10/2020 08:49

I’m away with my DD and niece and nephew for the weekend in a caravan half an hour from home. I was a bit apprehensive as they are 11, 10 and 5 and generally the girls have an attitude, but they are being awesome! We had face masks and board games last night, no attitude and they all slept til 8am.

Wetweekend99 · 17/10/2020 08:51

Everyone's day sounds lovely.
I have managed to sleep in until 8 10am! Which is amazing for me. Then I have to take my youngest to her swimming lesson which means I get 30 minutes uninterrupted to read my book. Then we have to drive to the city for her gymnastics so whilst she is doing that me and my 2 eldest children will have a wonder around poundland for some halloween bits and bobs. Then off to my mums for a couple of hours and then its strictly! We are going to have pizza and sweets and throughly enjoy it. Strictly is always a high light for us in winter. I really should get up and get dressed really ...

AuntieDolly · 17/10/2020 08:52

I’m off to watts gallery for lunch and a look at the Ruskin exhibition with my lovely friend. Hubby’s just brought me a cup of tea in bed. Life is good.

Dotinthecity · 17/10/2020 08:53

What a lovely thread to kick off the weekend. I've had a bit of a crappy week but am off out to lunch with my husband and oldest daughter. We'll be having pizza tonight joined by my youngest who's home from Uni for the weekend and will probably watch Strictly tonight if it's starting? I'm not usually a fan but I think a bit of glitz, glitter and sparkle is exactly what everyone needs at the moment!

Hobnobswantshernameback · 17/10/2020 08:55

I'm also browsing amazon for a selection of fairy lights
I love the sparkle and low lighting means I can't see the dust Grin
DS is in uni and won't be able to come back for a while and I'm struggling with worrying about him
So trying to focus on positives and doing nice stuff
Next job will be lots of fluffy blankets so I can sit in the garden even when it's 🥶

Well, I'm up before 9am - no small children anymore, & getting up at a sensible time on a day off hasn't happened since March because it feels a bit pointless. Sleeping in probably sounds wonderful but it's not good for me. So I'm trying to break the habit.

I am going to try to tackle some of the mess in our house, and turn it back into a home instead of an office.

Forgot Strictly is on tonight. Smile

Hobnobswantshernameback · 17/10/2020 09:06

Today will involve my three favourite things
Cake
Fish and chips
Wine
Oh and obvs spending time with my family Grin

I'm going out for a walk today. I need to do it and get some fresh air

Bluewavescrashing · 17/10/2020 09:09

I'm going to meet my parents today for a walk on the beach and a fish n chip lunch. Haven't seen them for a few weeks due to distance.

I'm enjoying breakfast in bed with my cat on my lap. First week working full time in my jew job and it's gone really well. I'm knackered but happy.

Leah2005 · 17/10/2020 09:11

Uhm. I'm waiting for some fabric to arrive and plan to make some oversized jumper things - kind of arty fisherman (person?) smocks. I also have a new flowering cherry tree to plant to finish off our new Japanese style border. Possibly wrapped dh's birthday gifts later then I can start to think about Christmas.

backaftera2yearbreak · 17/10/2020 09:12

My friend just had a baby with her 4th ivf attempt. It’s so lovely to see her and her husband glowing and happy!

DaphneFanshaw · 17/10/2020 09:13

It’s nearly half term. This has been the longest shortest term ever.

I woke up without an alarm this morning and it felt so good. I’m watching The Simpsons with the dts and the cat, we are all snuggley and content. Both dts have got separate activities to go to this morning then we might meet up with my parents for a walk in the park.

The rule of 6 means I won’t have to see my mil this Christmas, not that we ever see her anyway. It is just one less thing that I have to worry about.

IamaBluebird · 17/10/2020 09:16

Going to pick a pumpkin today at a farm nearby. Will treat myself to a posh hot chocolate while I'm there Daffodil

Hobnobswantshernameback · 17/10/2020 09:27

There's a gorgeous pumpkin place near Cardiff but I can't go there as it's in the Vale so can't travel there
Hope we can travel to get our Christmas tree Sad

I'm in the middle of attempting to redecorate the spare bedroom, which involves a lot of patching up of ancient plaster so will do a bit more of that. Then I'm going to the shops to see if I can find some black biker boots for winter. Strictly and Haunting of Bly Manor tonight. I really want a Baileys coffee now too!

PrettyinPink80 · 17/10/2020 09:27

I love this time of year. We're having a cosy wkd at home with hot choc, game and films. My little ones and I will paint each others nails this evening while daddy cooks us all dinner. We're all happy and healthy. It's been a rough year but I'm not getting stressed or down about it anymore, that does no one any good does it. Now having 30 mins alone with a good book, feeling happy and relaxed as I don't have to think about work or school or money or anything until Monday and even when Monday does roll around its still all good mostly, my kids love their school, all staff are amazing and trying so hard to keep the kids and themselves all safe. I'm helping out a couple of friends who are struggling tomorrow and next week and smiling about the fact we have a new arrival one the way next year and so far it's still a secret, don't tell anyone ❤️😊... Have a nice wkd all and stay safe x

I'm still in bed and it's 10.30 here in France. Dh has brought me a cuppa, dog is curled up by me.
Got to put washing in as dm went home yesterday and lots of bed linen to wash.
Will probably light the woodburner later.
My dd was supposed to get married in June and is now getting married in December and we don't know if we'll get there.
I'm at the just go with the flow stage although I cried when she sent a photo of her latest dress fitting. Only 14 people will get to see her in it now. I hope I'm one of them.
@Pickypolly enjoy the cake. Good idea about the outfit. @Hobnobswantshernameback there's a book called Welcome Home which focuses on decorating you home for the different seasons, just bought it for dn.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 17/10/2020 09:29

I've had a busy week with work and yesterday started getting bad back pain whilst hoovering. DH came home and took over the housework. He's now cooking a fry up for breakfast before starting on the ironing. I'm heading for a bath next and then the rest of the day on the sofa with my book, knitting and sewing, occasionally flicking through netflix.
Bliss!
This may be a slow recovery Wink

islockdownoveryet · 17/10/2020 09:29

Oh thank you for starting a nice covid free thread . After a busy and stressful week , I'm relaxing with a coffee .
Today will be food shop , cleaning , washing but may catch up on some tv .
Tonight strictly so will go and buy some wine and treats for tonight. Grin. My job is impacted by hospitality so if we go into tier 3 I worry . I'm banning all talk of covid this weekend I need a break from thinking about it .

Hobnobswantshernameback · 17/10/2020 09:34

All these lovely ideas
DH is going to take DD to get some lovely fleece blankets today. She loves stuff like that so hopefully will perk her up
Think the log burner will be lit later
Determined to keep cheerful and really enjoy some simple nice stuff

So nice to hear of everyone's lovely plans. I've just slept for 10 hours for the second night in a row. Been utterly exhausted and pissed off this week - decided to park all the gratitude and positivity for a couple of days and just lean in to the misery and let it all out. I feel so much better for it

So today is lunch, walk and light shopping with DP, lovely lamb curry and a beer in front of Strictly later. Those of us who do Strictly have NEVER needed it more. Tomorrow will be grocery shopping and out for lunch again, and going to bed early. Back to feeling grateful for having SO many good things in life
