Anyone want to chat nice stuff on a Saturday morning and pretend all the madness has gone away

I'm sat in bed with a coffee
It's been a crap week
It will likely get crapper soon with some form of significant lockdown here in Wales
I need to chat nice stuff and cling on to the positives and focus on all the nice shit I'm going to buy to make my house spectacularly sparkly and cosy this winter
I'm meeting a friend later in the park for coffee and cake
And then fish and chips in the pub with DH
And tonight is strictly night with DD

Had a lovely bacon sarnie, about to go pumpkin picking farm although I am the only one excited! Chinese for supper with a g and t by the fire.

BobsyerUncleFannysyerAunt · 17/10/2020 09:39

Just finished my second cup of tea in bed. No plans to get up yet. All housework and washing done. It's been a strange week so I'm not going to feel guilty staying in bed
I've ordered some clothes that should arrive today. First new clothes I've bought since last year, so quite excited
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

HappeBee · 17/10/2020 09:47

Still in bed at 945... can hear kids arguing downstairs... dh was hoovering and now gone to gym

Susiesue61 · 17/10/2020 09:51

DD are doing a virtual uni open day this afternoon, we got up early and booked on our talks 😊 Merseyside Derby at lunchtime, then football and Dominos later before a Zoom with our friends - we were supposed to be going out but tier 3 put paid to that!!

drinkingwineoutofamug · 17/10/2020 09:52

Got up at 7 and sat with a coffee in the peace and quiet, before mental dog woke up and decided she wanted to play ball and chase airplanes.
Written out shopping list.
Finishing decorating my kitchen
And a long walk in the woods later
Planning an easy tea and a bottle of wine in front of the fire this evening.
Busy weekend before returning to work Monday after a week off.

Allthedoggos · 17/10/2020 09:52

Been for a long walk with the dog, DH has gone out for a bit and me and Ddog are on the sofa, I'm drinking coffee. I'm going to attempt to make blueberry muffins today and just generally potter about the house. Prawn risotto for tea tonight which I love making. DH is excited because there are 2 football games on today that he can actually watch (We don't have sky sport) so he will commandeer the telly for most of the day and I can just get on with my pottering about. Tomorrow I'm doing the autumn switchover so swapping the cushions, throws etc and getting some fairy lights on the go. Covid has hit us hard financially as DH is out of work, but I'm just trying to make the most of what we have to cosy up the house a bit without spending extra money.

Also in Wales and preparing for stricter measures in the next week or two. Feeling grateful that we are both healthy with a warm cosy home and food in the cupboards, whilst also preparing mentally for the next few months to be quite difficult.

Hi all, DH and I are going to visit my parents today and stay in a hotel overnight, coming back tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the trip. DD and DS are older teens and will be staying at home, DS has work today and DD plans to do lots of cooking (which she loves) for them, and to play with the guinea pigs lots. So this is the most exciting weekend we’ve all had for what feels like ever...

Happyface120 · 17/10/2020 10:27

I am on the sofa with DS watching The Addams Family whilst my new robot hoover cleans the house.
I have a cup of tea and lebkuchen.
I have the Delia christmas book on the coffee table, so I'm going yo write a list of ingredients that I need for mincemeat and Christmas cake in a minute, and then will have a stir up weekend next week.
I'm working overtime tomorrow (NHS) which is rubbish but it will pay for the new robot!

Now at the gym which is launching bag new Spirit classes today ( a mix of Pilates , Yoga and meditation ) . Have made an aubergine parmigiana for later . Looking forward to watching Strictly later .

bibbitybobbitycats · 17/10/2020 12:21

I'm in Wales too OP Waves

Pottering around here, have put up fairy lights as a sort of charm to ward off the gloom. Have a few bits to do in the garden (if I can motivate myself) and then will have a nice dinner and watch something on TV with DH. Simple stuff, but grateful for it all at the moment.

ragged · 17/10/2020 12:32

I want to list a lot of stuff on Ebay, trying to dehoard my house (20 year project, if I'm honest).
Will watch some sport on telly this afternoon.
May go for a run.
DH & DS are planning something potato related in the garden. I'm staying out of the way.
Maybe I'll reward myself with chocolate if I can get the Ebay listings done...

julesover40 · 17/10/2020 13:00

Lovely cheery post!
Had a lie in till 9 today then blitzed the house. Minor miracle being that both dds helped with little fuss, happy days. Dd1 has some friends over, lovely listening to the laugh and have some normality. Still teir 1 here, so enjoying normality while we can.
Dh in bed after a night shift. Taking Dd2 to her dance class this afternoon, so may well have a mooch about the shops child free for a couple of hours.
Never really got into strictly but think we'll give it a try tonight. Some sparkle and fun sounds like perfect winter viewing.

Thelnebriati · 17/10/2020 13:19

I'm going to do some gardening this afternoon then I'm having home made cottage pie topped with spuds I grew myself. Its all ready made sat in the fridge.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 17/10/2020 13:25

Sooo nice to chat about doing nice things
It really is the small things that help at the moment

bibbitybobbitycats · 17/10/2020 13:36

I just made the mistake of going on to a covid related thread. Wish I hadn't so am coming back here to hide.

Thelnebriat how do you know when it's time to pull up the spuds? I planted some which supposedly should be ready soon, but I am not sure how to tell.

Whohasnickedmyvodka · 17/10/2020 13:43

Whattheduck · 17/10/2020 14:12

HappeBee · 17/10/2020 22:59

Thanks for starting this thread OP. Can you do another tomorrow? :)

Wetweekend99 · 18/10/2020 07:46

This was really lovely to read through this morning. I didn't get chance to come back and read yesterday as I was busy but I had a lovely day. Today will be our Sunday ritual of poached eggs and the newspaper. We are just deciding where to go for a walk in the afternoon.

Hiding out here as I accidentally stumbled onto a covid one and didn't like it 🙈

Hobnobswantshernameback · 18/10/2020 08:47

Shall I start a Sunday one?
Bit wobbly at the moment so maybe something nice to chat would be good
Bear with
