What's the best chocolate?

I was reading another thread where people are saying how much chocolate has changed over the years. I used to love Cadbury's but it's just nothing-y now. Really feels like eating sugar for very little reward.

Now I like Co Op's fairtrade range, and Montezuma's Absolute Black.

What did you used to like, and what do you like now?

Dont understand the hate for Cadburt. I love all their chocolate bars. More for me Grin

Chickenwing It’s the way it feels in your mouth, so much sugar doesn’t leave a pleasant feeling and the aftertaste isn’t there as not enough flavour due to to much sugar - sugar is sweet but doesn’t add flavour

I agree with pp that Tony's is overrated.
Perfectly fine but nothing special.
My go-to chocolate bars are Sainsburys own brand ( not the cheapest budget range) and Milka.

Massive chocolate fan here.

The Waitrose no 1 bars are good - I particularly like the milk with sea salt and feulletine. Also the 45% milk
Lindt (obviously, goes without saying really)
Most green and blacks
Cadbury darkmilk is actually ok - and doesn’t contain palm oil (a little on the sweet side)
Tony’s (but I find it a bit too sweet)
Hotel chocolat - especially their truffles

Flipz chocolate pretzels

Dowser · 14/10/2020 23:08

Bendicks mints
Hotel chocolat rose and violet creams
Also dark chocolate with orange or mint is quite palatable
Some of the Vivaldi range , dark chocolate With a flavour is nice And so is seed and bean
Also like montezumas, and green and black
As Strictly gluten and dairy free I’m very limited so it has to be good stuff

Off to Tenerife at the weekend and will be indulging myself with valor dark With almonds

@ chicken wings
Cadburys in the 50s 60s, 70s..was just fabulous
What is produced now is nothing like the original

Tony's Chocolonely is also available on Amazon...

In Berlin last year, we went to the Ritter Sport shop and bought loads. They have a section where you can choose the added ingredients and make your own bar, DS loved that.

Recently we bought a Lindt pick and mix from their website, I have a bone to pick with the MN poster who mentioned that this existed. My waistline damns you, MN poster!

Those three are our favourites.

Thanks to all who recommended Tony's chocolate. I had never heard of it but picked a bar of sea salt caramel up yesterday on a trip to Sainsbury's and it's already gone in less than 24hrs 🐷

You can make your own Tony's bar in Amsterdam too (and they've recently opened a "Chocolate Bar" cafè :
