I didn't think they were that bad, but wow! And she let me take a photo Grin (my hand is for scale)

That is impressive. Does the world seem loud now?

FromTheAshes · 14/10/2020 12:28

It seems busier and more distinct, if that makes any sense

Can I ask what made you go to have this done? Was your hearing bad?

TheQueef · 14/10/2020 12:30

This sounds so satisfying.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 14/10/2020 12:30

Wow!

Imissmoominmama · 14/10/2020 12:31

Impressive! Where does one go to get that kind of thing done?

FromTheAshes · 14/10/2020 12:39

It wasn't that I couldn't hear at all, more that I struggled to focus on a single voice if there was other noise or conversation going on and I was forever saying 'what' even when it was just me and my partner on a quiet evening. I did have trouble hearing my daughter on the baby monitor too(she's three and calls quietly, it's not like I was missing out on full on baby wailing 🤣).

A gp told me before lockdown that I had a lot of build up but I never had a chance to do anything about it what with covid and all.

One call this morning, and three hours later it was all gone!

Lots of places offer this now Imissmoominmama, I just googled ear wax removal and my town name. I think even specsavers do it!

Oooooh this is wonderful! Having my own ears microsuctioned is probably the best money I have ever spent
I share in your joy and delight OP!

AuntyPasta · 14/10/2020 12:42

I so want my own ear micro suction device for Christmas. I’d settle for an experience voucher to get my ears done professionally Grin

BamboozledandBefuddled · 14/10/2020 12:47

It's amazing isn't it? Grin

PontiusPilates · 14/10/2020 13:19

Will you use it for home-made candles to sell on eBay?

thenightsky · 14/10/2020 13:22

I'm going to suggest this to DH. I'm sick of hearing the word 'pardon' and him racking the volume up on the telly.

haba · 14/10/2020 13:27

Do they do children? DS's are so waxy...

BamboozledandBefuddled · 14/10/2020 14:30

The clinic I go to does children.

BullshitVivienne · 14/10/2020 14:32

Oohhhhh I want my partner to do this.

LuckyAmy1986 · 14/10/2020 14:33

I have this done fairly often, I love it but one time the sucker thing got my ear drum and it was one of the most disgusting and painful feelings I have ever had!

FromTheAshes · 14/10/2020 15:06

Oh crikey, might I need to get it done again at some point then? This was about 15 years of build up from when I first noticed I had a problem.

Some places do children, yes, I think from age 7 upwards?

80sShoulderPads · 14/10/2020 15:09

Aarrrgh I really need DH to have this done, I'm forever repeating myself and he insists that I mumble incoherently. No one else has any trouble hearing me!

If I suggest having his ears looked at he looks all horrified like I've suggested he have a testicle removed.

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2020 15:12

Is that from one ear, or both?
Inspiring.

FromTheAshes · 14/10/2020 15:24

The top lump is from my left ear, the bottom one is from my right. They were really solid and round, not at all what I was expecting.

OP posts:
HunkyPunk · 14/10/2020 15:29

Did you have to do any kind of softening beforehand?

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2020 15:34

Do you use cotton buds usually?

(apols, am treating this as an AMA)

FromTheAshes · 14/10/2020 15:57

They recommend using olive oil drops for a few days beforehand, but it's not essential hunkypunk

No thespottedzebra I've always been very careful about never putting anything in my ears because I know it can cause compaction or damage. My ears are apparently just naturally crap Grin

OP posts:
NotYourDawg · 14/10/2020 16:09

that's the best thing I've seen in ages.

I'm going to investigate for myself and DS aged 7. I have to clean his ears with cotton buds (only the outside, never in the canal) because he is so waxy.
