There is a famous ear wax thread on MN from ages ago. The OP went to get her ears hoovered out and the resulting thread was just epic.

@FromTheAshes my ears just produce too much wax unfortunately so I have to do it regularly! My ENT said she has loads of people that go monthly! I do quite like it though I have to say. I like seeing what comes out!

Are you going to keep it, like a souvenir ? I often want to keep gross stuff for further inspection, but never know what to do with it so just take a picture instead.

I need this. How did I not know about it before?! I have really poor hearing when there's background noise (although a hearing test was normal) AND I'm a sporner. This is ideal.

I wasn't allowed to keep it!! Apparently they have to dispose of it safely. It would have looked ace on my sideboard

I'll look forward to checking out that thread while I'm putting dd to bed in a few. I've been on mn for donkeys years, but haven't been as regular as I was so I didn't even realise there is now a sporners corner more delightful bedtime reading for me

My dh had this done last week and was very sensitive to sound afterwards, we all had to talk much more quietly to avoid hurting his ears !!

That was amazing. I've never read anything quite so like porn that isn't actually porn.

I had mine done over the summer, cost £80 but worth every penny. I went to get them syringed first (at gp) but it didn’t work so paid for microsuction. A huge tube shape came out of one ear - Was very satisfying.

Feels very weird afterwards though, every noise sounds very loud - the fridge humming, kettle boiling etc - makes me very jumpy! I was convinced my car was sounding dodgy too.

I had this done recently and it was amazing! £80 well spent. The guy who did it says people book themselves in every few months to keep their ears nice and clear.
