What is the strangest thing you’ve seen someone get annoyed about on here?

StanfordPines · 11/10/2020 08:15

I was reminded yesterday of a poster who was furious about people including the county in postal addresses.
I’ve also had a thread where posters are angry with me for not having a bin in my bathroom.
Then there was the poster who said that women who put their bras on in a certain fashion will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Something are worth getting cross about but what is the most inconsequential thing you’ve seen posters getting angry about?

@TwentyViginti I contemplated starting a thread about how non-bra-wearers arrest the painful jiggling, but decided it just sounded too trolly for words Grin

DoctorYang · 11/10/2020 11:56

The mother who was really annoyed that she couldn't take super-soakers to a kids' party.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/10/2020 11:59

@TheSeedsOfADream Grin love a bit of Herriot.

TwentyViginti · 11/10/2020 12:00

JesusInTheCabbageVan Some of us are strangers to jiggling as we don't have the requisite amount of tittage for it Sad

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/10/2020 12:06

One about not giving a primary aged child her own ensuite. That the not much younger sibling could have her turn when she went to university.
But multiple Other threads on how cruel it is to swap bedrooms when a child leaves for university, in case they feel pushedd out.

Actually most children's room threads confuse me...

@ShirleyPhallus

Wow, I’ve just read the book one. It’s just 🤯

My favourite line is the pompous poster who said that the worlds atrocities are to be blamed on people who don’t read enough

So pompous! Quite cringey to read, like please calm down love.

It is quite scary to see how aggressive posters get! I made a post once in which the unanimous response was LTB but I purposely posted it in a quieter section of the forums cos there was no way I was going on AIBU. It was hard enough seeing the very kind responses I got.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 11/10/2020 12:12

If you say you don't like leather sofas you will unleash a tsunami of hurt/annoyance/defensiveness. Eventually someone will accuse you of jealousy because you can't afford leather furniture. Try it and see!

Janevaljane · 11/10/2020 12:14

I started a thread once about how mean a teacher had been to dd.

Well.

Suffice to say, my child and myself were the two worst human beings on the planet. I've never read abuse like it.

And the teacher ended up being asked to leave a year later because she had been so unpleasant to another child, so I felt quite vindicated.

BoulangerieBabs · 11/10/2020 12:15

Ahh I remember the dolphin one, people up in arms that animals were going around raping other animals. They couldn't understand that animals are not humans with human thinking.

The Covid ones were bonkers, anyone buying milk, wine, fags were killing tens of thousands even if they were doing their weekly shop and walking down the aisle right past the milk or wine, bonkers.

The social housing threads, Christ they get heated with lots of vitriol spouted about the persons 'free' house and they should be eternally grateful for the empty shell they are provided, that they get free repairs and upgrades and everyone of working age was paying for it for them. They can't get their heads around how social housing actually works, that most people pay rent of over £600 p/m and will continue for years the paying for all the extras that are apparently free. The people commenting such vile abuse are usually secure in their mortgaged house and have no reason to be so nasty.

Also on SH, the pile on when they expect this type of housing to be for only those in desperate need, apparently once you earn 30k you should move out immediately, rent privately, the commenters don't seem to understand that the renter will probably then have to claim housing benefit. I just don't understand why they get so het up.

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 11/10/2020 12:15

If anyone is in any doubt about the dubious sexual practices of ducks this video explains all. (It’s not graphic duck porn, just a bloke talking).

Livpool · 11/10/2020 12:16

@Bluntness100 this always confuses me too. Where are her expected to go?!

Although we are having our garden done and the man has not once asked to use our toilet. Is he peeing in the garden?! I really want to ask him because I have made him a lot of hot drinks

Chicchicchicchiclana · 11/10/2020 12:18

Oh yes, just read a pp. The posters who think you are "showing off" if you walk around with a takeaway coffee Confused.

Janevaljane · 11/10/2020 12:20
@Notverybright I now realise (having tried to find that thread) that you're right Blush

I also realise the irony of me getting annoyed about people saying 'Rona' on a thread about people getting annoyed about trivial things Grin
My baby's nickname from my friends as I'm pregnant is baby Rona 😬🙈

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 11/10/2020 12:22

When I was having some work done to the outside of my house a couple of years ago I told the workmen I’d leave the black door unlocked and they could pop in and use the downstairs toilet. They refused and said they’d use the one at the petrol station opposite! I feel like they had encountered the people who get upset at workers using, or God forbid, pooing, in their loos and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle.

64sNewName · 11/10/2020 12:23

For some reason I badly want to gawk at read some of the “carrying a coffee is showing off” comments. Was it a whole thread, or... anyone know what I should try searching for?

Myneighboursnorlax · 11/10/2020 12:25

I once posted asking for opinions on my wedding plans, which included 30 guests to the ceremony (no room for more) and about 80 guests to the reception. I had posters horrified that I was splitting people into first tier and second tier guests! I should invite everyone to everything or not at all. What did I expect the poor second tier guests to do while everyone else was in the ceremony, stand outside?!

Emeeno1 · 11/10/2020 12:29

The pigeon comments are quite funny being on this thread. Children get great joy out of chasing a few pigeons and never catching them.

Honestly, people have gone bat shit crazy. Why is everything taken so seriously now?

justanotherneighinparadise · 11/10/2020 12:29

Oh god I’ve completekyj forgotten the Mumsnetters who leave the house so their 16 year olds can have sex with their boyfriends and deserve the privacy to do so.

Weirdly if the parents have sex in the same house as teenagers they are accused of child abuse and if they even dared suggested the teenagers went out so the mother and father could get some privacy there is absolute uproar that this is despicable behaviour.

To be fair, what were you expecting from a forum where people act like receiving a wedding invitation is a personal act of spite, and anyone doing anything more decadent than wearing a bin bag and toasting with a glass of water is a total waste of money....?!

Well, as long as your precious little darling is happy, who cares about needlessly scaring animals?

My DD (now 6) had wonderful toddler years and enjoyed a range of activities. None of them involved chasing animals.

So true. "His (16 y.o. son) sex life is none of your business, OP!". Also - "If they can hear you and OH bang, it's a form of abuse." So weird.
Tangledtresses · 11/10/2020 12:42

Ooh yes yes I've been roasted for supporting a poster who was having a moan about her awful husband... she was just having a vent
She got absolutely abused and not being grateful enough to even have a husband 😱
They all told me I obviously was a stay at home mum who didn't realise what hard work was 😂😂 I run my own business

I didn't respond I honestly thought a lot of those comments were from men and when I posted that it all went very quiet 🤫

BrightSunshineDay · 11/10/2020 12:44

Well anything corona virus related. Admit to hugging your mum? You're a murderer and will cause many mumsnetters to literally shake with anger.

Gabrielle Union once shamed a delivery driver for stinking out her Bel Air crapper, when she'd allowed him to use it. Opinion was divided between those who though he had outrageously taken advantage of her kindly nature, and those who thought she was a bitch. I definitely had my foot in the latter camp. I'd hate it if I woke up one day and realized I'd become a person who wouldn't let 'the help' lay some cable in her loo.
