What is the strangest thing you’ve seen someone get annoyed about on here?

I was reminded yesterday of a poster who was furious about people including the county in postal addresses.
I’ve also had a thread where posters are angry with me for not having a bin in my bathroom.
Then there was the poster who said that women who put their bras on in a certain fashion will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Something are worth getting cross about but what is the most inconsequential thing you’ve seen posters getting angry about?

Years ago, a toddler chasing pigeons.

I will admit to hating it when parents allow their kids to do that.

sashh · 11/10/2020 09:00

Can I add one from twitter? Just because it was so bizarre.

A complaint that Malala Yousefzi had gone to Oxford but not when she was 18 so shouldn't really be there.

Various people pointed out that most 18 year olds had not been shot in the head, had to move country, written a best selling book and got a nobel prize.

Hahaha @fatherliamdeliverance that was so weird

I’m with you on that one. I can’t stand it.

Someone once posted asking about the best place to get helium balloons for her DC's birthday.

The first response was someone lambasting her for even considering it because helium is in short supply apparently.

Poor poster who just wanted to make her DC smile.

Same, it's really bratty and not remotely cute Hmm Parents who allow their children to scare animals are shits

Someone who got annoyed by a 2 year old pulling wildflowers. The mother, who was trying to get him to stop said to the angry poster “he’s only a baby”. Apparently, that meant in the future he would be in prison for horrific crimes and his mother would still be saying ‘he’s only a baby’.

The poster who said that apparently had an actual baby herself. I wonder if she changed her mind about how easy it was to get 2 year olds to stop doing irritating things when the baby got older.

@lazylinguist

Well there's a current thread where the OP, who isn't Scottish and doesn't live in Scotland, seems incensed about the fact that English people are not that bothered about the fact that exams in Scotland are cancelled, and are only really interested in the exams in England - you know, the ones that are actually relevant to them. That's pretty strange imo. Apparently it's a sign that we all hate or don't care about Scottish people or something. Confused
I feel like I need to read this. Any chance of a link, or do you temember which board it's on? Sounds like it will get me through football training...
BalloonSlayer · 11/10/2020 09:04

Actually I have just googled and thanks to the Lockdown and therefore no parties happening, there is currently no longer a helium shortage at this moment in time!

It's an ill wind . . .

The anger at people showing off by carrying coffee springs to mind!

Also there was an amazing thread where someone was saying they hate people who wear their work passes on lanyards. Also showing off apparently. The thought process seemed to be that having a job in (any) office is high status so people liked to keep them on in shops to lord it over retail workers.

StanfordPines · 11/10/2020 09:07

I remember one where someone had mentioned their front door and there where a number of posters who simply couldn’t understand that some front doors don’t have door handles.

I was just coming to post the helium brouhaha. Amazing!

Where someone was furious that people were going out to buy milk when they could “use butter in their coffee”

Apparently going out to get milk wasn’t essential and they were literally killing people!

I’m pretty sure some shops have lanyards for the staff. They do make us poor insignificant goons feel slightly better about our lot in life Grin

I've only ever encountered one like that and I couldn't get the bloody thing open as I have nerve damage to both arms and hands. My host had to open it for me. It was utterly infuriating. Exactly how do you get the buggers open? What's the secret?

Bluntness100 · 11/10/2020 09:15

Workmen using your loo. And in particular pooping in your loo. In non Covid times as well. Apparantly for some folks, you can have tradespeople working in your home but they should never ever use the loo.

I completely forgot about that one, it was so brilliantly bonkers

Yes, there were some batshit comments about going to the shop in lockdown.

Yes, I saw that, someone said you didn’t need to buy milk as long as you had a tap for drinking water in your home. It didn’t come under thr banner of necessary shopping trips and anyone going out to buy anything at all to drink when they had tap water was guilty of spreading the virus and risking lives.
OrigamiPenguinArmy · 11/10/2020 09:18

There was a thread yesterday where a poster was asking for recommendations for cozy, gentle Christmas themed books for her 85 year old mother who only liked to read cozy and gentle books.

Not one but two posters got incensed by this. One was angry that the OP’s mother wasn’t like her and didn’t enjoy gritty and serious books, the other was angry because, according to her, it was impossible to emphasise with people unless you’d read a book about them and therefore the OPs mother should extend her reading range. Bonkers.

I put the key in, turn the key and push.

And yes the Covid ones got crazy, one woman was told she couldn’t walk her dog or kids in the empty field bordering her garden more than once a day as it broke the rules. No matter how many times she explained it was an empty field she was told by some posters, it was simply reckless and illegal to go in there.

AllPlayedOut · 11/10/2020 09:21

See I couldn't do the turn and push at the same time. I don't have enough strength or dexterity . Door handles are one of the best inventions ever.
