What is the strangest thing you’ve seen someone get annoyed about on here?

I was reminded yesterday of a poster who was furious about people including the county in postal addresses.
I’ve also had a thread where posters are angry with me for not having a bin in my bathroom.
Then there was the poster who said that women who put their bras on in a certain fashion will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Something are worth getting cross about but what is the most inconsequential thing you’ve seen posters getting angry about?

@tectonicplates

Oh they do, they do. Woe betide you if you say that the boob or bust method doesn't really work for you or that you find it intolerably uncomfortable to wear a bra with a band size equal to your underbust measurement. It's as if you just shat on their floor.

Or if you think Brvssimo are rubbish, their fittings never work for you and they never have anything nice in your size anyway. People on here are obssessed with them to the point of it being creepy. Saying you don't like them is akin to blasphemy on here. I still think they're not all that.

Not as obsessive as those incredibly ugly non-wired bras, Molkky or something. They’re hailed as amazing but are just awful.

About cats going outside.

GrandAltogether · 13/10/2020 18:51

I think of myself as an equable, even-tempered type, but I realised today that the phrase ‘bean to cup coffee maker’ annoys the living daylights out of me for some reason. Not the actual machine, just the phrase. There’s something sort of smug and completist about it, like ‘nose to tail eating’.

But I have not started a thread about it.

Plussizejumpsuit · 13/10/2020 18:52

@fatherliamdeliverance

Ha what about the poster who was livid because people love dolphins despite their predatory sexual behaviour??
I remember this. One of the best posts I've read. Completely bonkers!
Nikhedonia · 13/10/2020 19:00

@BlueThursday

I once commented about the chore of shaving my legs and was near enough abused for shaving above the knee.

Firstly I wasn’t believed that I did such a thing as “nobody has hair above the knee” then I was told I was giving in to some anti feminist movement Grin

Oh yes! Any thread where you mention shaving anything at all is met with vitriolic replies
tinkywinkyshandbag · 13/10/2020 19:15

I have had a lovely time reading this thread. I love a bit of fury and vitriol. Especially when it's over something utterly inconsequential. Reminded me a lot of my Mum who spends much of her life being furious about things - like people having tattoos, or fat arms, or giving chocolate buttons to babies. Dogs barking at a distance of approximately 5 miles away and only audible if you turn the TV off and open the window make her particularly irate.

longwayoff · 13/10/2020 19:48

I love this too, tinkywinky, its the best thread in ages.

I've never even set foot in a Bravissimo store. I'm going to hell aren't I?

GET OUT OF HERE NOW! Angry

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 13/10/2020 20:10

A few topics guaranteed to cause hatred on here :
Grandparents providing childcare
Washing/not washing sheets and towels
Washing / not washing yourself
Toilet brushes
Covid
Shaving your fanjo

@CarlottaValdez

The other thing that tickles me about bra sizing is that if you say you’re a size 10 you’ll be informed that that is a size 22 in 90s sizing as it’s a vanity size. For some reason being a 26GGG is not vanity sizing even thought that’s probably a 36C in 90s sizing.
Very good point.

@AlternativePerspective

Years ago there was a poster who started a thread outraged at the fact that children were being given cake and sweets at a school fete. She literally said that she was going to kick up a fuss about how they were deliberately poisoning her children. Hmm. Batshit.
I remember that one. Along with the annual ‘why do we eat cake to raise money for Macmillan when cake GIVES YOU CANCER’ thread.

I'm loving this thread too.
The outrage on MN keeps me coming back. It's the modern equivalent of the mythical newspaper letters signed "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells."

Can I mention the horror over flannels? Does no one realise that you can wash them?

The horror over flannels. The horror over handkerchiefs. The horror of toilet brushes. So many women pearl clutching over such benign subject matters. I wonder how many of them get through the day.
Nikhedonia · 13/10/2020 20:47

I wonder how many of them get through the day.

Presumably by coming on here and venting their fury at the mundane and pissing on our chips

PunkrockerGirl59 · 13/10/2020 21:01

There's one about cats at the moment I appreciate that not everyone is a cat lover but there's some seriously bat shit posters on that thread Confused

TheOrchidKiller · 13/10/2020 21:18

Sometimes I want to shout "I own toilet brushes, flannels, & a cat that goes outside! I also failed the 11 plus but it wasn't the end of the world*"

But that would take the enjoyment out of it.(* And someone would probably point out the link between my inability to solve some puzzles aged 10 & my scuzzy habits).Grin

But that's the opposite of vanity sizing surely? Anyone in their right mind would rather be a size 36C where you can buy a bra in Primark for £5 and have it in every colour under the sun, than be a small band size and big cup size where a bra costs £35.

I am 45 and have never been measured any way other than the boob or bust way, so it's definitely not a new thing, it was in use back in the 80s.

I suspect that was me! But I also maintain that I have never been furious about this, just irritated and happy to tenaciously continue any discussion on the subject that anyone else wants to have. Not furious though! Grin

Eastie77 · 13/10/2020 21:48

Anyone who is on a 'higher' income, which on MN appears to be anything above £20k, is usually subjected to a fair amount of vitriol if they post about a financial problem.

I received some very unpleasant comments and was sneered at on one thread because I used the word crescendo in the wrong context.

I think it was you, Dappled. In fairness I doubt there are that many people who get even slightly bothered by it.

(I might have ramped up the level of frustration to make the OP more interesting)

I have been brought up always has county in addresses

Haven’t everyone?

So it would be

1 housey house
Streety street
Towny town
County count
Postcode
