If we all survive this, when people talk about it in the future, I will say " it was so fucking boring "

All anyone talks about is covid . Alm that us on the news us covid. Can't go to the theatre because covid. Gigs? No covid.
Restaurants are dodgy. Pubs are dodgy. Seeing family and friends is forbidden. It is all so bloody dull.

Plus the smell. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant everywhere. Yuck.

Covid fatigue

Back in March most of us were far more anxious and there was a sense of this is history (dare I say it high drama) and we are in it together

Now Covid fatigue has set in we are more complacent that’s the concern but we have also adapted

As my friend says life is beige at the moment

This is the most boring post I’ve ever read.

I'm bored of the extra headspace and planning of things, nothing being spontaneous and details such as remembering masks for school, PE kits etc and ordering extra clothes such as jogging bottoms now they need to wear those as well (and extra expense of this)

also the extra mental load of dealing with others emotions and uncertainty.

Covida · 11/10/2020 14:43

I am not bored of Covid, I find it quite peaceful. I love that my life is much calmer. I work from home and spend lots more time with my children. I quite enjoyed home schooling too and do activities with my children I usually don’t have time for. We have done lots of baking, painted the house, did lots of gardening in the summer and read lots of books. We now have a family book club with weekly zoom meetings which 15 of us attend including grand parents. Life is different and we have to adjust to our current reality. I live in London and most places are open. Have just been to a brilliant exhibition at the Southbank. Yes you have to pop a mask on, but I hardly notice anymore.

I live in the sticks and nothing is open 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Topseyt · 11/10/2020 14:46

I'm done with the whole fucking thing. I'm not a big socialiser, but I don't like seeing people's livelihoods and health (physical and mental) destroyed by arbitrary rules and regulations from a shit government that clearly has no idea what it is doing and no plan.

I'm bored silly by the news every day, where little other than Covid 19 makes the headlines.

I'm fed up of struggling to breathe through a fucking mask and I am totally BORED SILLY with people sanctimoniously patronising me by saying that it is better than wearing a ventilator. I know, right!! I still have my own struggles though and need to vent so please, just shut the fuck up! I still wear my mask where required to, but I don't have to like it and I truly hope that the government does not extend the requirement to wearing them in all outdoor public spaces. If they do then I will be tempted not to comply.

I'm pissed off that I had to be made redundant during the last lockdown and that the state of the job market is currently so dire.

I'm stressed with the worry of elderly parents who are in poor physical health now and who only made it through the last lockdown alive by the skin of their teeth. If another lockdown comes will the same happen again? In lockdown situations the danger of them fading away without me being able to be with them is ever present and it is a horrendous feeling. So bad in fact that I will probably not listen to anyone entreating me not to visit when needed.

I'm so fed up with all of this shit. I am allowed to be. My feelings are valid. It doesn't make me a Covid denier.

GoldenOmber · 11/10/2020 14:57

Yeah I would probably be less bored if most places around me were open and we could just pop out to see an exhibition, too.

mrsswayze · 11/10/2020 15:22

Fucking bored senseless. And yes I'm a nurse who's has been working through this. Whilst home schooling and Trying hard to amuse a toddler after nightshifts as my dh is also a key worker.
Life is so boring I can't even take my kids on a day out we had planned as the area we were planning on going to is now on lockdown.

Good for you, but that isn't how it is if you don't live in a city. No exhibitions to go to round here, and I am only about 40 miles out of London.
Covida · 11/10/2020 15:25

What do you usually do which is now closed in the sticks?

Ted27 · 11/10/2020 15:39

@NekoShiro
that all sounds lovely - and solitary.

I can fill my time, but thats what it is, filling time. I miss my family and friends. I have seen my mum once this year and no other family members since last December, I might not get to see them until next year.
My 16 year son is filling his time but has not seen a friend socially since August and is becoming more withdrawn by the day.
I volunteered for a covid related role at work in March, I have never met the people I work with. Meanwhile in the old team where I had beeb for 10 years people have retired, had babies, got promotions etc and I can’t see them to sat goodbye.
I miss theatre, gigs, cinema, comedy shows - which are thousands of people’s jobs.
So yes In can fill time, but I’m bored with it

SoUtterlyGroundDown · 11/10/2020 16:00

@Covida

What do you usually do which is now closed in the sticks?
I usually help to run a community dance school which we haven’t been able to reopen as our venue hasn’t opened and none of the others work out cost wise. Go to productions at our small local (closed) theatre. Do a watercolour painting class which uses aforementioned closed venue. Help to run Rainbows which is now monthly, via Zoom instead of weekly, in person.

Why?

Namechangeme87 · 11/10/2020 16:04

@MadameBlobby

Thing is you sound pretty talented. I am shite at everything

Well if nothing else u made me laugh out loud literally 🤣 that sounds like something i would say

ScaramoucheFandango · 11/10/2020 16:11

I'm crap at hobbies too.

loulouljh · 11/10/2020 16:16

I agree!!! Endless news of it. Poster everywhere. Stickers, Masks. Talk of it on the radio. So bored of it. Endless. Mindless.

loulouljh · 11/10/2020 16:18

The rubbish weekends too. You cannot go anywhere (even the tip!) without reserving, getting a ticket, taking a mask, hand sanisiter, getting shouted at by someone for not obeying some nonsensical rule. It is truly truly rubbish.

21catsandcounting · 11/10/2020 16:29

I love the reservation system at my local tip. Means I don’t have to queue for agesGrin

I’d probably like it too if we could get a slot! Next one available is in 7 weeks.

It's true. All that's left is walks. And round here all the well known places are rammed. Even when it's siling down. We went to the woods today for a walk and on the radio on the drive home some twat "scientist" is on about how we should make masks mandatory outside in public. Well we were on a public footpath. In total we saw like 2 other people who we didn't go close to so who exactly would our masks be protecting??? Fucking stupid and I won't do it.
Topseyt · 11/10/2020 16:45

@Covida

What do you usually do which is now closed in the sticks?
Our main option round here is walks unless we travel into London or Cambridge. Shopping or exploring a town centre is no longer a pleasant experience due to needing masks and same went for cinemas too, and they have just closed around here again anyway.

There are no exhibitions anywhere nearby and our only decent local bus service has been cut by half since lockdown so now only runs every two hours on weekdays only.

You are clearly very used to London, which is great (I used to live there too) but is an entirely different world.

GoldenOmber · 11/10/2020 17:34

I don't think I'm even in the sticks but usual options would include:

  • take DC to museum (closed)
  • take DC to library (closed)
  • take DC swimming (toddler pool closed, long waiting list for 'family swim' sessions in the main pool)
  • go out for pub lunch (all pubs closed)
  • take train or bus into nearest city/big town to do something else (we're not supposed to be taking public transport for 'non-essential' reasons at the moment)...
BrazenlyDefying · 11/10/2020 17:42

One of my FB friends posted a picture of her calendar page for September - completely blank - this week and said it was 2020's biggest waste of money.

Totally agree. All the fun stuff has been cancelled. It's either closed, or has so many rules that it makes it unbearable. I don't want to make an appointment to visit a NT site or a museum, shuffle around, sanitising constantly and wear a fucking mask the whole time. There is ZERO pleasure in that.

I am so fucking over "just go for a walk".

And as for the "well at least you're ALIVE to be bored, all those people who have DIED would LOVE the opportunity to be bored" - just fuck off with that sanctimonious twaddle.

SoUtterlyGroundDown · 11/10/2020 17:48

Oh yes and our library hasn’t reopened and we can only book lanes for swimming, which isn’t much use for my three children under 7.
