Baked Camembert

DiversityQuestion · 09/10/2020 12:33

I have bought a lovely Camembert that is meant for baking. The big question is what do I eat with it/dip in it, once it's baked?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Crusty bread with it is the best!

Yqui · 09/10/2020 12:40

Crusty bread and slices of cooked potato, it's delicious! Shove some garlic cloves sliced up into it before you bake it for garlicy cheesy heaven!

Cranberry sauce goes very well.

Agreed! Either a baguette or a nice crusty bloomer...

DiversityQuestion · 09/10/2020 12:43

Do you dip the bread into the baked Camembert or do you spread molten cheese onto bread? Sorry to be thick!

Aldi do a nice part baked sourdough baguette which goes perfectly with their camembert..yum!

Bramblecrumble · 09/10/2020 12:43

Dipit. I also like using carrot sticks, cucumber and breadsticks

You need something green or salady as a side.

DiversityQuestion · 09/10/2020 12:48

Thank you all for your ideas!

You do?? Blush
BusterTheBulldog · 09/10/2020 12:51

Bread. Lots of bread. I also then can’t resist buying various meats and pates to go with 🥰

amusedtodeath1 · 09/10/2020 12:52

We do a baked brie on Christmas Eve every year, I just serve it with crusty baguette (part baked) and we all rip bits off and dip in...yummy!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/10/2020 12:54

You do??

Yeah. I do. Or it just feels all gluggy. A nice salad with a sharp dressing sets it off nicely. I also prefer a nice crisp white whine - maybe a Chablis or a Reisling.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 09/10/2020 12:55

You can get one of those tiger loafs, dig out a Camembert style shape in the bread and put the Camembert in it. Bake in oven 😍

GuidoTheKillerPimp · 09/10/2020 12:56

Spread or dip, as you like. Bread, new potatoes, chips, gherkins, pickled onions, sausages have all found their way into a Camembert over the years in this house.
Might have to go and buy one now 😁

Nadiya had a lovely recipe on her show this past week for a cranberry and chilli bread roll and baked camembert thing.

Pigs in blankets well f**k me sideways. You angel from heaven above.

I tend to skip anything green and drink copious amounts of red wine, that also helps with the glugginess..

This is a very interesting idea! Does the bread become like a giant piece of toast?

Its normally pizza night on a friday here, not tonight, not for me. This sounds like heaven!
HeyLala · 09/10/2020 13:45

Smear the top with sweet chilli jam or onion marmalade as you bring out of the oven.
Then dip in crusty bread or sourdough slices. Yummy 😋

RainbowRaine · 09/10/2020 13:48

Baked camembert with freshly cooked part baked bread, served with a nice fresh crispy salad.

cherrybakewelllll · 09/10/2020 13:49

Crusty bread, celery, carrots, peppers, cranberry sauce and red wine to drink is compulsory!

I like your thinking.

I was just going to say crusty toasted bread Grin. Oh and garlic. Lots of garlic.
