Do you ever secretly lick your plate?

The height of bad manners but I can’t resist bean juice or post-baked-potato buttery lickings.

Shocking I know.

Ugh no. It gives me the heaves and I'm not overly fastidious!

Floralnomad · 07/10/2020 19:06

No because it’s disgusting .

Hiccupiscal · 07/10/2020 19:06

Yes. And I dont hide it. Grin

gubbbbbddaaaa · 07/10/2020 19:08

No .

meow1989 · 07/10/2020 19:08

I dont lick the plate but I will season with salt and pepper and swipe a finger round... unless its a roast then getting a bit of bread and doing the same is one if life's great pleasures!

DiabeticFirstBaby · 07/10/2020 19:08

Only in my own home with just the DH here! 😋

happymummy12345 · 07/10/2020 19:10

No, the thought of it makes me sick. Hate when people lick yoghurt lids and spoons as well

Sunseed · 07/10/2020 19:11

Only out of sight of DCs!

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 07/10/2020 19:15

My DH deliberately licks his plate sometimes to tease me, because he knows I can’t stand it.
But he’s got a silly sense of humor...if you can call that yucky behavior “humor.”

CoffeeInAnIV · 07/10/2020 19:16

No. It's disgusting 🤢

scrivette · 07/10/2020 19:17

I will use my finger to 'mop up' but not when the DC are around as I tell them not to do it!

I also sometimes eat with my fingers whilst reading a book if I am on my own.

MirandaMarple · 07/10/2020 19:18

No, but my Labradors do.

FallonsTeaRoom · 07/10/2020 19:32

I get a spoon or piece of bread to mop up remaining food juices. Licking plates is vile.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 07/10/2020 19:35

I'll up the stakes. Has anyone done it in a restaurant? (I haven't, but I will at home if it was something especially nice.)

Liddell · 07/10/2020 19:36

No, unless with bread.

33goingon64 · 07/10/2020 19:36

If it's DH's gravy after a roast then yes, but in private. I don't get people saying it's disgusting - bad manners yes but it's the food you've just eaten on an otherwise clean plate!

PhylisPrice · 07/10/2020 19:37

I did it for the first time in years the other day after lunch with my toddler, looked to my side and he was copying me bent of his plate licking it like a dog 🤣 won't be doing it again for fear of him doing it at nursery! 😂🙈

weepingwillow22 · 07/10/2020 19:37

No but if I have eaten a gu pudding I will sometimes use a finger to get the chocolate in the corner of the pot.

PhylisPrice · 07/10/2020 19:37

Bent over*

Aquamarine1029 · 07/10/2020 19:38

No.

myhobbyisouting · 07/10/2020 19:38

God it's years since I've done that. But yes, totally been there Grin

notso · 07/10/2020 19:39

Yes, because gravy but don't tell my kids Grin

UnitedRoad · 07/10/2020 19:39

Not dinner, but I do with pudding sometimes

waltzingparrot · 07/10/2020 19:41

Licking your own plate - it isn't really that disgusting though is it? Now licking someone else's plate that they've already licked - that would be disgustingGrin

imissthesouth · 07/10/2020 19:42

Only if it's just me! I don't get why people think it's disgusting. It's bad manners to do it near others and I tell my DC not to do it, but you ate off that same plate, why is it now disgusting?
