The height of bad manners but I can’t resist bean juice or post-baked-potato buttery lickings.

In the house. I couldn’t be arsed living with someone who thought it was vile to lick the exact same food you’ve been eating off the exact same plate like.

I do it all the time in my own company

My DH does. I take it as a compliment to my cooking! Not in public though. He does have some class 😂

Nothing secret about it! But only at home and never in front of DD.

Yes! If it's been really good food I'll lick it to get the final scraps. I wait till DP has left the room ... But am puzzled why it makes people heave??

How is licking your plate any worse than licking a spoon? Or putting your fork in your mouth as you’re eating? It all gets washed afterwards.

I don’t lick my plate because I wouldn’t want to risk anything dripping down my top, but wouldn’t be particularly put out if I saw someone else doing it.

Well not secretly, do it quite openly. I just don't want to waste even a drop of good tasting food!

No I don't...mostly because if there is enough to make it worth while, I'd probably get some bread with a despicable amount of butter to clean up. Really nice after a fry up, especially if you save a piece of bacon or a sausage just for the bread.

I don't see the appeal of licking it though. Probably because a) I'd likely misjudge and end up with a lap of sauce and b) maybe I have a odd shaped head, or short tongue so struggle to avoid a saucy nose.

I don't care though if you do....well actually I might ask if you're still hungry....and feel like a terrible host like I've deprived so badly you had to lick the plate to feel full.

I CANNOT stand people licking their knife though...

No because it's fucking gross.

Mind there are people in the world who let their dogs lick the plates and just stick them back in the cupboard afterwards, so gross extends a long way.

I did it once in a restaurant with a tiny bowl of melted choc. Colleague did same and got roasted, "But Tink did it...!"

I don't often lick the plate, but I always drink the dregs of the milk from the cereal bowl (unless the cat is lurking to finish it off).

No I don’t secretly do it, I’m not ashamed to do it in the first place! Especially with one of grandmas roast dinners!!!!
