I've been making things for a few years now and have a halloween 1:24 scale dollshouse. I do miniature not full size ones - 1:24 or 1:48 scale.
i do have collectors items but also make a lot of my own.
i'd love to know if anyone else collects.
I'm just doing some Christmas items for the Fairfield dollshouse kit I've ordered from the states.

Hi,

I also make a lot of my own bits for my dolls house. Mine is 12 scale I believe - small in any case Smile

I do it for fun and because I love the creative side of it all and because it is easy to handle being small. In the past, I have made an entire Christmas Day dinner, with all the trimmings which gets put out when I make the house ready for Christmas. I love your snow scene 😍

BitOfFun · 05/10/2020 18:37

I don't, but I have a gorgeous dolls house and I would LOVE to see more of all your creations!

BitOfFun · 05/10/2020 18:39

Ooh, that 17th Century room looks amazing.

MoonDelay · 05/10/2020 18:44

I don't as it would no doubt look a right mess however I absolutely adore miniature things, I so wish I could have something like that never mind have the talent to make them. Incredibly sweet!!!!

MoonDelay · 05/10/2020 18:47

@Antsdeck Ooooo do you have a picture of the tiny Christmas Dinner? Could you show us?? 😍

confusedbeyond · 05/10/2020 18:48

Oh I love this, please post pics of your work so I can wish I owned them! 😍😂

FenellaMaxwell · 05/10/2020 18:50

When you said adult stuff, I was expecting a dolls house sex dungeon or something! Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/10/2020 18:59

I follow dolls houses on pinterest (the only reason why I made an account), can we please have more pictures Smile

Giggorata · 05/10/2020 19:31

I have some dolls houses and I make some of my stuff and buy others. All of my dolls house are witchy ones - I have a small village!
You can spend every bit of money you have and then some more on some of these amazing miniatures.
Here are two different versions of a discontinued Dolls House Emporium kit, Moonstone Cottage and Cobwebs Cottage,
An interior shot of the Perfect Potions shop,
And an interior of Broomsticks Bar

These are all lovely! Anyone enjoying this thread should read The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton btw

DinosApple · 05/10/2020 19:42

Those are fabulous, I love looking at the detail of people's tiny creations. Nothing of my own to offer though.

In lockdown someone posted about booknooks and I fancied making one of them but still didn't get round to it. Me and the kids sat for ages making tiny vases of flowers out of Fymo type clay, with varying degrees of success!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/10/2020 19:52

Lovely pictures ...
I've seen book nooks - but the spaces in my bookshelves are filled with empty gin bottles

BitOfFun · 05/10/2020 23:07

This thread has really inspired me to have a go at wallpapering mine and making a few bits- thank you!

Hm2020 · 06/10/2020 06:04

madcatladyforever · 06/10/2020 06:19

Giggorata I LOVE!!!! Yes you can spend a small fortune on them and I have in the past but I've had to rein it in and start making my own stuff. I mostly make everything from cheap kits from Petite Properties, jewellery findings and bargains from ebay, plates etc and put them all together. Etsy has some great stuff too, Little Miss Miniature in the UK is great for smaller scales.

Would love to see more pictures of everyone's creations, I think I'd love a doll house buy have refrained both due to space and the bottomless pit of money it would eventually be!

madcatladyforever · 06/10/2020 08:50

I like making things so most of these with the odd etsy purchase like the dolls, the day of the dead doll and the Rosemary's baby crib I had made for me. Most of my stuff is made from £2-4 kits from Petite properties, fymo, stuff printed off from the internet and sized down and books are very easy to make. Once layered up and lots of stuff on one table it looks really nice.
The house is a work in progress, I'm still putting in beams (cardboard) and painting and ageing it and tiling the oustside.
It isn't an expensive hobby really and kits for the smaller scales are a lot cheaper than 1/12.
I like making little dioramas too like the graveyard scene on a table, that's going in the childrens room as an alternative to a train set.

I have a dolls house but it needs full restoration. If you ever get the chance visit the Thorne miniature rooms exhibition in the Chicago Art Institute, truly amazing. There must be pics online.
