Here we go again you lovely lot, Thread 13.

Post some lyrics of a song 70s, 80s, 90s (boundaries may be slightly pushed either way). State the decade & we will try to guess Artist(s) and song.

"Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine"
70s
That's Lola by the Kinks

and

I used to say I and me, now it's us, now it's we
70s
Is Ben by Michael Jackson

Could be names? Although Michael Jackson song is actually about a rat, and the mum cat we are fostering is called Lola so it called be furry animals, but I suspect not!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 15/10/2020 17:17

Is the theme names?

All correct. Ben is also a human name, twig.
But I think you might get a bonus point if you can make the furry animals thing work Grin

TwigTheWonderKid · 15/10/2020 19:16

She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
Or nothing's lost, at such a cost

That's Ruby Tuesday. I'm sure someone must have a dog called Ruby... probably a French Bulldog...

FlouncerInDenial · 15/10/2020 20:28

Correct, twig. You're pushing the connection somewhat, but I'm enjoying the stretch!

I will always want you for my sweetheart

is Oh! Carole! by Neil Sedaka.

@ThatLibraryMiss

I'll kick it off with some of mine that didn't get guessed on the previous thread, all in line with yesterday's theme. They may be too old for some of you young whippersnappers but they're good songs, well-known in their days:

My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day
60s

Hear the mighty engines roar
See the silver wing on high
She's away and westward bound
Far above the clouds she'll fly
60s

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
70s

Can i join? Did anyone get this from the first page? I tried to look through but couldn't see. Is the first one Kathy's Song by Simon and Garfunkel?
ThatLibraryMiss · 15/10/2020 21:23

Congratulations, Breathmiller, you're right! I'd given up on anyone getting it.

FlouncerInDenial · 15/10/2020 21:31

Correct x 2 library.

@Breathmiller, anyone and everybody is welcome. The easiest way to be sure no one's got a lyric yet is to start from the end.
Or you can put up some of your own for others to guess

FlouncerInDenial · 15/10/2020 21:32

(Oh sorry. Xpost. Distracted by watching Taskmaster!)

Iggi999 · 15/10/2020 21:56

Ello ello. Half term here and ready for some lyric spotting!
Do we need to find lyrics with names then?

Breathmiller · 15/10/2020 21:56

@ThatLibraryMiss

Congratulations, Breathmiller, you're right! I'd given up on anyone getting it.
Yay. Okay...

I was cautioned to surrender
This I could not do
I took my gun and vanished.

FlouncerInDenial · 15/10/2020 22:20

Not necessarily, Iggi, but mine do have a theme. Are you off for 2 weeks like coffee?

Breathmiller · 15/10/2020 22:23

TwigTheWonderKid correct Smile

Sticking with the theme

I see your folks have gone away
Would you dance with me today
I'll show you how to have a good time

70s

No one comes near
Look at him working
Darning his socks in the night

60s

Let me drown in your laughter
Let me die in your arms

70s

When I'm thinking of you sleeping
I'm at home alone and weeping
Are you keeping your love

70s

I was so upset that I cried
All the way to the chip shop

70s
