So is Trump being taken to hospital all part of the hoax?

Lots of people on Mumsnet seem certain that Trump doesn't have Covid at all, and it's all a set-up.

So is going to hospital part of the set-up? And if so, how does it play into the hoax?

Because there are a lot more leaky lips in a hospital than the White House. So I'm puzzled as how this helps the hoax?

It fells with an opinion I read this morning, that he deliberately contradicts himself so that things can be spun different ways for different audiences, because people want to hear what they want to believe. So white supremecists hear “stand back and stand by” whereas moderates hear him denounce the “Proud Boys” a day later.

Same with this - opportunities for spin. He’s a hero, he’s a martyr, he’s just doing what he has to do for protocol, it’s a precaution, he’s sick, he’s fine, the virus is serious, the virus is no worse than flu. All can be spun from this.

I’ve just watched the video on the BBC. And I have to say that he seems different to usual.

Usually he’s a bumbling idiot, shouting, proclaiming, making all manner of ludicrous statements and proclamations. But in this video message he was eloquent, well spoken, clear. Without bravado. I don’t think he’s intelligent enough to think to change his way of speaking...

Yes he doesn't have the insight self control or sophistication to keep up a credible act, remember him pretending that he didn't already know about the death of Ruth bader Ginsburg

I remember all the "in good spirits" "working hard in his hospital bed" about Boris and it turns out he was worse than they let on. - was he? I got the impression that Boj was in hospital as a precaution with mild symptoms (but as PM he was first on the list for fast, preventative treatment) and then 'we' all clapped for him and he, seeing this great upswell of love and validation, used it to the fullest. Get the sympathy, get the vote.

Which DT will also do.

He's a man in his 70,s with some underlying health issues ,I wouldn't be surprised if he was quite unwell tbh,I'm no fan of Trump but I wouldn't wish this virus on anyone .

I perceive that DT is quite brave about emotional conflict but a complete chicken about his physical health. He's a notorious germophobe. I suspect that he has rarely done anything physically brave in his life. The twitter/journalist rumour is that he got quite freaked out by his early symptoms.

For all his gadfly attention span, he's heard a lot about this disease being deadly.

I don’t think him being positive is a hoax, but I think the hospital visit may we’ll be.

I don’t see what the point would be hoaxing that he tested positive.

Trump lying about it and staff testing positive aren't mutually exclusive positions.

It's all about balance of probabilities. Trump is a liar. Liars lie.

Perhaps he got freaked out for the sake of his child? Wanting to be around for his son? Who must be extra scared given that his mum, whilst not hospitalised, also has a positive diagnosis.

I can't go with line that DT cared hugely about one of his kids. He takes their achievements as to his own credit, is how much they matter to him.
