So is Trump being taken to hospital all part of the hoax?

Lots of people on Mumsnet seem certain that Trump doesn't have Covid at all, and it's all a set-up.

So is going to hospital part of the set-up? And if so, how does it play into the hoax?

Because there are a lot more leaky lips in a hospital than the White House. So I'm puzzled as how this helps the hoax?

I hope he benefits from the same excellent healthcare that he has ensured his nation’s poorest people have access to.

FoolsAssassin · 03/10/2020 07:54

I wouldn’t like to say it is but equally wouldn’t like to say it isn’t. Everything is so strange at the moment I have got to the stage where it seems wise not to discount anything .

Feel sorry for his son but that is as far as my sympathy goes.

Asterion · 03/10/2020 08:15

@BohemianDream

Why wouldn't being hospitalised be part of the hoax? It needs to be convincing.
Because it makes him look weak. This man, who told the world he was taking hydroxywhatsit to keep Coronavirus at bay. The man who told America that Covid wasn't worse than the flu. The man who mocked the Biden camp for wearing masks.

@Frazzled13

Jon Sopel said that the White House has a small fully functional and staffed hospital within it, so going to an external hospital indictates a significant issue.

But he walked to the helicopter, so he can’t be that ill.
Unless they are anticipating he may get much worse, and thinking that footage of him walking to the helicopter now is far better than him being wheeled or stretchered to it later.

That is exactly what I think - get him walking to the copter now, because we know he's getting worse.

Apparently he's now having trouble breathing.

I’d imagine they would want to start him on the plasma therapy straight away before any deterioration.

Ironfloor269 · 03/10/2020 08:25

It's just a precaution apparently. He has access to the best healthcare in the world, also it's a military hospital, which is presumably more secure than any normal hospital so he can carry on with the hoax. He's meant to be 'working from there'.

10/10 to whomever came up with this gem of a plan to avoid the presidential debate!

Lindy2 · 03/10/2020 08:33

I can't understand the people who think it's a hoax. With his lack of mask wearing, no social distancing and attending big gatherings, it has been extremely likely that he will catch it at sometime.

I'm actually more surprised it's taken quite this long. I was starting to have suspicions that maybe he'd actually had a mild case earlier in the year and that was being hidden so he didn't appear weak. Clearly that theory was wrong and he's infected now and feeling ill enough to need immediate medical treatment near by.

OperationallySound · 03/10/2020 08:36
Trump never claimed that Covid was a hoax. That was misinformation from a Democrat ad propagated and amplified by the Media, the amount of people who repeat this lie without fact checking it say far more about how easy manipulation is:
apnews.com/article/election-2020-virus-outbreak-ap-fact-check-politics-joe-biden-1eea443cca46df5f18e61b7c34549da2
If I got it wrong about the hoax I apologise. That rambling speech was almost impossible to unpick (which is often exactly what he wants). However he has repeatedly misled the public and lied about the extent of the disease. He has mocked others for wearing masks (including Biden) and put pressure on governors to reopen states mid pandemic. He has insisted on rallies where mask wearing isn't mandatory and supporters are in close proximity His actions have undoubtedly led to many deaths. If you watch his daily press conferences, it would be impossible to come to any other conclusion.

DGRossetti · 03/10/2020 08:38

I can't understand the people who think it's a hoax

Because - like our own PM - he is a proven liar. Case closed.

If he and his knuckle dragging supporters can't work out why a lot of people take that view, there's not much more to say, except I have a bridge for sale, if they PM me.

Newjez · 03/10/2020 08:39

@stairway

I don't think they will use plasma therapy. You wouldn't know who the blood had came from.
Coughpatrol · 03/10/2020 08:48

To be fair, it makes sense he’d have it. It’s a pandemic, he’s out all the time, he never wears a mask or takes any precautions.
But it also makes sense he wouldn’t have it as he’s not doing great in the polls and needs a way to either 1) gain the sympathy vote or 2) a convenient excuse when he does badly.

The guy is pretty evil though so I’m neither wishing him well or badly.

stairway · 03/10/2020 09:15

Newjez I think you’re right they don’t do the plasma treatment there, it looks like he is having artificial antibodies instead.

HMSSophie · 03/10/2020 09:15

Oh come ON, of course it's a hoax. The helicopter to hospital thing is because that verminous shit of a man has to have Covid bigly, the bigliest, so that when he "survives" his cretinous supporters will admire him even more. He can't die soon enough in my book.

bumblingbovine49 · 03/10/2020 09:16

I was someone who doubted if he was really ill. I think now he probably is but the fact that so many peoples first thought was that is indicative of the lack of trust in him. Despite our shit shower of our government and my dislike of Boris, I never once thought his illness might be faked

ureterr1blemuriel · 03/10/2020 09:22

I think that often, older people who get it start off mild and then “fall of a cliff” I heard one news story say l, so it’s probable that he was moved to a proper hospital in case this happens...as it did with bojo.

When he did that brief interview (again as bojo did) he was in a suit but his face didn’t look relaxed and confident as it normally does.

knittingaddict · 03/10/2020 09:29

I think that he probably does have CV, although I was sceptical at first.

It's not surprising that many are doubting this. If your whole life and career is built on lies then what do you expect. He's the boy who cried wolf.

LunaNorth · 03/10/2020 09:33

I think Barron will be better off than the kids his father caged, whatever happens.

I cannot find a single fuck to give about the state of Trump’s health. He is a monster, and the sooner he is off this planet, the better.

knittingaddict · 03/10/2020 09:35

This last tweet did not sound like Trump at all. "I think"? "Love"?

Going welI, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!

No idea what that means about his health though.

stairway · 03/10/2020 09:37

I think covid can cause neurological symptoms, or maybe it’s all the experimental drugs in his body.

AlternativePerspective · 03/10/2020 09:56

Thing is that either is plausible. Given what we know he’s capable of it’s entirely plausible that it’s a hoax, but given the fact the virus is running rife around the US and he has never believed in masks or social distancing, it’s also entirely plausible that he could have caught it.

Thing is, how far are the conspiracy theorists prepared to go? If he dies will the conspiracy do the rounds that he’s not really dead but is instead living in some tax haven where he can’t be held accountable for his debts?

I was dubious at first but now I’m not sure.

And while there is no doubt he’s a despicable individual, I think it takes a certain kind of person to actively wish someone dead. yes, we know that people have died because of him, and that he has contempt for many. But two wrongs don’t make a right. Wishing him dead doesn’t actually make any difference to what he’s done in life.

The80sweregreat · 03/10/2020 10:01

Who knows what is really going on , but I'm sure he will be fine. They will get the Best health care and lots of rest and attention.

AlternativePerspective · 03/10/2020 10:02

I’ve just watched the video on the BBC. And I have to say that he seems different to usual.

Usually he’s a bumbling idiot, shouting, proclaiming, making all manner of ludicrous statements and proclamations. But in this video message he was eloquent, well spoken, clear. Without bravado. I don’t think he’s intelligent enough to think to change his way of speaking...

FusionChefGeoff · 03/10/2020 10:17

It's definitely about the optics - the damage of seeing him wheeled, helped or stretchered into a helicopter would be huge.

This way he's now hidden to play out the rest of the illness / recovery in private whilst spinning whatever tale to the press and staying in control of the message.

Perfect PR approach I would say.

OperationallySound · 03/10/2020 10:39

I don't wish him dead. However I don't care what happens to him. There is a difference.

AlternativePerspective · 03/10/2020 11:06

I agree there is a difference. I think that people feel compelled to say something because it is COVID otherwise they probably wouldn’t.

Whenever we hear about other leaders being ill people kind of just shrug it off until something actually happens. When Robert Mugabe died I saw some people praising him for the good he had done, and I was somewhat Hmm about that, but equally I was horrified at the people who apparently felt the wish to watch the execution of Saddam Hussain on YouTube.
