Did anyone else have a rainy wedding day?

We're getting married on Wednesday and the weather is going to be horrific.

We'd planned for everything to be as outdoors as possible as it's a beautiful place, but I'm not getting my hair wet or ruining my shoes 😂

Got some big umbrellas and we'll look round the venue tomorrow, but I really wanted pictures by a nice lake and things like that.

Any tips on how to make the best of it and still get some nice pictures? Just the two of us so Jo guests to keep dry

@JorisBonson Have a great day!

We got married on a rainy day 21 years ago tomorrow so it was lucky for us. Our photographer asked the church if we could take photos inside due to the weather and he agreed (absolutely amazing chap who married us).

We had big umbrellas and like a PP said and it just added to the fun of it. I wish I hadn't been so precious about my dress skirt as I was holding it up on a few casual photos but the photographer had a fold out disc thing she laid on the ground to protect my skirt for some more "official" ones.

Happy wedding day @JorisBonson, enjoy it and have fun whatever the weather 😍

Would you believe that it stopped raining 10 minutes before we got married and smashed it down the minute we went inside!

New DH snoring away happily next to me. Thanks everyone. Was the best day 🤗

Yes. Middle of July. Made for some great wedding photos

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 30/09/2020 23:09

Many congratulations on your wedding today! It also rained on our wedding day - exactly 25 years ago today!

CherryPavlova · 30/09/2020 23:11

Bucketed down on ours. Ok arriving at church but then the heavens opened and we had massive thunderstorms. My husband surprised me with an open horse drawn cart to leave the church. I sat in bin bags under a vast umbrella.

We married 42 years ago today, it rained. Maybe it's the date. Congratulations.

Congratulations!! It utterly PISSED it down on our wedding day. 17 years and 3 DC later we are very happily married. Wouldn’t have changed a thing xx

AcrobaticCardigan · 30/09/2020 23:39

Completely torrential! So bad I had to get a car to travel a few metres to the wedding venue. I was worried about the pics, and while we didn’t get the staged family shots outside as planned (in hindsight we should have got these inside the venue) the natural pics of everyone laughing and huddling under umbrellas as they arrived were fantastic. It actually added to the pics - they were so happy, beautiful & real. I genuinely believe they were better for it and it was certainly a memorable day. Every year on my wedding anniversary, I can’t help but chuckle to myself / DH as the weather is never as bad as it was on the actual day. Have a beautiful day OP!!

Rain is atmospheric and beautiful. If you have a good photographer you will get some stunning pictures.

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 30/09/2020 23:52

And many congratulations to you @whywhywhydaliah 😊

foreverandalways · 30/09/2020 23:59

Poured down all day on my day and been married for 28 years..together 32 and birthday on same day

caringcarer · 01/10/2020 00:06

I got married last week in July and it poured down when we were exchanging vows but stopped and sun came out as we left for reception. We got married in a castle so had quite a lot of indoor photos as well as some outdoor ones. Good luck.
