What name(s) do you irrationally hate?

I'll start.

Denise.

I don't know any Denises... I'm sure they're lovely. But the name just rubs me up the wrong way.

NOTE: No Karen bashing please! Because it's been hijacked as a name and it's not fair on Karens.

Fishingforhappiness · 03/04/2021 09:06

Sharon - ironically it's my mother's name and I find every Sharon I've met annoying. People who decide to spell common names wrong to be different also annoy me eg Max spelt Maxx.
Neveah! Heaven backwards, seen alot of very sick kids with this name...maybe it was tempting fate?
Any double barrell names eg Lily-Mae and May/March in general.
Louise- everyone my age has the middle name Louise.

SionnachGlic · 03/04/2021 09:11

Again, completely irrational but names that are not class appropriate. Sebastian, Arabella, Hugo etc - lovely, but not for anything less than the aristocracy (and shopping at Waitrose doesn't cut it!)

Louloubelle78 · 03/04/2021 09:17

I don't know why my boss is a Crispin and it just makes me think of crisps.

I hate names that could be dog names Poppy, Lilly, Molly, Teddy, Charlie, Alfie. Generally I would hear them in the niace London park near where I used to live. A child comes running, not their Labrador when the name is called.

I hate all those granny names Ivy, Olive....you name your kid after a salty wrinkly thing.

I hate the wet names Evie, Milly etc

Jaxon, Jayden etc- don't need a reason. It's just a fact.

I also hate Paige. It's like a page in a book

stalachtiteorstalagmite · 03/04/2021 09:17

Otto. It's so over used as a baby name where I live and just makes me think of Otto von Bismarck.
Gideon. Makes me think of dastardly Rob in the Archers.
Maisie, Milly, Molly etc. Cute names on a little girl but ridiculous on an adult.

Preservethewood · 03/04/2021 09:22

Emma and Lucy. Not irrational though, as they beyond insipid

freeandfierce · 03/04/2021 09:22

Matilda

My friends little girl us called this, I can't bear it.

Squidthing · 03/04/2021 09:23

Harriet

SwedishK · 03/04/2021 09:25

Barbara and Priscilla. They sound evil.

CormoranStrike · 03/04/2021 09:26

Barry

PADH · 03/04/2021 09:29

Nigel

(and it's my DHs name)

BreatheAndFocus · 03/04/2021 09:32

@Itsmemaggie

Duncan
Me too! I thought I was unique he hating that name! To me Duncan sounds like someone with a noseful of catarrh 🤮

I don’t like the abbreviated names with May or Mae, eg Lizzie-Mae, either because I can’t stop myself adding in my head “...and she may not)

And I have an irrational dislike of ‘wrong’ names eg a child called April who was born in February, a child called Tuesday who was born on a Saturday.

notanothersaveusername · 03/04/2021 09:34

Jayden, Kayden, brogan, Reagan, darcy, Kai, Neo (apart from Keanu reaves) Mitch.
Any made up name.
Any misspelt name.

CherryValanc · 03/04/2021 09:34

Sebastian
Jasper
Felix
Delilah
Gobnait

First on due to being the name of a very horrible person I was in primary school. Then strengthen by the fact he who grew up to be an nasty deeply dislikeable man.

The others are more irrational. Jasper and Felixstowe are animal's names. Delilah is and always will an very well known (and awful) song, Gobnait is just because of how it sounds. No child should be subjected to any if those three.

notanothersaveusername · 03/04/2021 09:35

And any hyphenated name....Lilly-mae, poppy-rose

MessAllOver · 03/04/2021 09:41

Carrie and Sophie... both very wet.

Anything hyphenated.

Millymomooo · 03/04/2021 09:44

Tilly
Harrison
Jaxon
Poppy
