I'll start.

Denise.

I don't know any Denises... I'm sure they're lovely. But the name just rubs me up the wrong way.

NOTE: No Karen bashing please! Because it's been hijacked as a name and it's not fair on Karens.

@Crinkle77

Becky. I was dumped for a Becky.
A 'Becca' was picked over me, too, so that name can bugger off as well.
Ameanstreakamilewide · 04/10/2020 11:24

@Bellabluea

Margaret Poppy (particularly when they use the nn ‘pops’ 😩 Mason Alfie Harrison
One of my neighbours is a 'Pops'...she's not a nice kid at all.

So i totally echo your feelings on Pops.

ImaSababa · 04/10/2020 11:26

Gretchen.

Possibly the ugliest collection of sounds in any language.

Agree re weird spellings.

Saw a Leigh-o once on a child’s peg at DC’s play group 😳

OohKittens · 04/10/2020 12:20

I've seen a Molly spelt Moleiee also an Emily spelt Elmlea

Yorkshirelass04 · 04/10/2020 14:31

Every Nicole I have met has been a bitch.

The same for Lynn.

happymummy12345 · 03/04/2021 06:33

@Jimdandy you rude person. You're the one judging people on names not me!

happymummy12345 · 03/04/2021 06:34

@Jimdandy I'm no fucking chav!!!

happymummy12345 · 03/04/2021 06:35

And don't tell me what to do like you have any right!

Eastereggfan · 03/04/2021 06:43

Bradley

Jimdandy · 03/04/2021 06:43

@happymummy12345 you’re correct on the first 2 counts 😀

I haven’t told you what to do, but since you say I have, I will - I suggest deed poll 😂😂😂

NeverBeenNormal · 03/04/2021 06:44

Roy and Eric. And Tracy and Sharon.

Like previous posters, I find weird spellings irritating.!i saw an Abygael the other day.

And I like Caroline but hate Carolyn. Don't really understand why.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 03/04/2021 07:05

Sandra. Ugh.

BertieBotts · 03/04/2021 07:09

I have way more names on the no than yes list especially for boys Blush I have 3 boy children...

BTW I wouldn't care if other people used these and they can totally suit a person but not for me.

Sylvia/Sylvester/Silky - argh
V names - Vicky, Veronica, Victor etc. I think it sounds harsh.
Surname names, not keen at all.
Generational names that are not yet far back enough to be "cute" - Kevin, Mark, Barry, Karen, Sharon, Tracey. Just make me think of middle aged people, not babies.
Boys' names with some kind of violent meaning. Why so many?
Religious names

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 03/04/2021 07:26

ladymary86 · 03/04/2021 07:26

Thomas - I just can't get my head round why it's so popular. The sound and look of it to me is awful.

Formulation123 · 03/04/2021 07:28

Girls names that are flowers like poppy or daisy. In my head I can only think of them as complete airheads as adults (like precious in friends) and think it would go against them when people see their CVs.

Sebastian
Lennon
Marmaduke

Any name spelt differently to make their children different annoys me

bevelino · 03/04/2021 07:31

Gary
Wayne
Colin
Paul

Formulation123 · 03/04/2021 07:31

Oh forgot when people shorten Emma or Emily to ems 🤮

Or oscar to Oskie

AnotheChinHair · 03/04/2021 07:44

I hate Pauline and Paulina, but LOVE Paula as used my my European relatives

I hate Nicola, but LOVE Nicole, again as used by my European relatives.

HeronLanyon · 03/04/2021 07:47

A whole slew of made up names. Many last names as first names.
Samantha - absolutely no reason for this.

UCOinaUCG · 03/04/2021 07:51

Evelyn. I have no idea why it is so popular. I think it is ugly.

Halloweenrainbow · 03/04/2021 07:54

I've watched a few American reality shows with a little boy is called Shooter. Why?

Afonavon · 03/04/2021 07:57

Darren (naughty boy when I was in playgroup)

Paul: every Paul I’ve kissed has turned out to be a bellend.

Charlotte: I was feeling tired, emotional and vulnerable on the ward I got upset hearing the midwife enthuse About the baby name the woman in the next bed had chosen for her baby (Charlotte), after she just raised an eyebrow at my baby’s name.

Names aren’t really the problem though are they, it’s usually a person you associate with the name.

Saying that, I Am no fan of the American South Mindy-Lou type bollocks

JMAngel1 · 03/04/2021 07:59

Willow - it just sums up for me all that is wrong with contemptuous left wing overly liberal mothers who breast feed until their child goes to school. Self rightousness winds me right up. I have yet to meet a Willow who hasn't been accompanied by the most annoying mother that I do not want to engage with in any way.
