What name(s) do you irrationally hate?

I'll start.

Denise.

I don't know any Denises... I'm sure they're lovely. But the name just rubs me up the wrong way.

NOTE: No Karen bashing please! Because it's been hijacked as a name and it's not fair on Karens.

@anorangeaday

Imogen
I always think Imogen sounds like a gas/electric company!
eatsleepread · 03/10/2020 10:51

Oh, and I've never met a nice Jeremy in my life.

eatsleepread · 03/10/2020 10:56

Does anyone think that if you were writing a smutty book with a right kinky bastard in it, you'd name him Sebastian?!
It totally has that ring to it.

Olivia and Oliver
I domy understand why so many people want to name their dcs after a greasy green squishy ball of yukiness.

Zaphodsotherhead · 03/10/2020 14:49

My name is one of those that's generally tacked on in a hyphenated way, but I've got it as a standalone name.

I used to like it, but now I feel as though I need to adopt a prosthetic name to stick on the front to make it feel complete!

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 03/10/2020 14:55

Both my daughters and my name have been mentioned Grin

I don't mind James but I HATE when people insist on it being shortened to Jim. I don't know why its just awful

LazyDoll · 03/10/2020 14:58

Oh god SO many.
Anything that’s an American surname.
Anything that’s made up.
Anything that’s a thing or a colour or an object not a name ie Sky, Heaven.
Ella, Bella, Evie, Eva - yawn.
Names that every other child has Oliver, Harry, George
Names that are shortened versions of real names Lottie, Charlie.
Most of them looking at that 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Rainbowsparklesdust1921 · 03/10/2020 16:37

I can't stand the name David, it's awful!

Rainbowsparklesdust1921 · 03/10/2020 16:38

And McKenzie too!

BooFuckingHoo2 · 03/10/2020 16:42

Dulcie - I have no idea why anyone would inflict this on their offspring.

bcccc · 03/10/2020 16:45

@Crinkle77

Becky. I was dumped for a Becky.
Well if it makes you feel better I hate that name tooGrin
Rainbowsparklesdust1921 · 03/10/2020 16:50

Ooh dear my DC name has been mentioned quite a few times 😳

FatimaMunchy · 03/10/2020 16:50

Olive

Fatarseflanagan09 · 03/10/2020 17:25

Nigel, Terrence, Brayden, Stella, because she was a horrible cow at riding school, Brenda, Lydia because it makes me think of chlamydia.

Witchend · 03/10/2020 17:36

Josh/Joshua or worse shortened to Joshie. Any time you hear that moaned across a playground you just know the mother will be the on complaining their little darling is not appreciated at school and the teacher is jealous because they're more intelligent then them. Or other twaddle.

Harrison. It's just such a surname to me, I really don't like it as a first name.
Pamela. My granny's name. Although she changed to use her second name because "it sounded so old-fashioned". If it sounded bad in 1938, how old-fashioned is it now!
Winifred/Wilfred
Nora-just sounds moany.

I think between the posts most names have been mentioned by now Grin

My children seem to be lucky with names not mentioned - yet!
TheVamoosh · 03/10/2020 20:57

Wilfred and Charlie. Yuck.

TheVamoosh · 03/10/2020 20:59

Oh and Olly. Sounds like a right little shit.

I wonder if we had the same ex! Surely to god there can't be two evil Craig's![/quote]
@lachy

Re: Craig.

His last name began with L and he is now deceased.

CarnageAtTheGardenCentre · 04/10/2020 09:04

.....well, anyway, I hate the name Simon. Such a wet name.

Whengodwasarabbit · 04/10/2020 09:21

Amelia and Harry

brimfullofasha · 04/10/2020 09:38

SallySeven · 04/10/2020 11:10

They were inspired by Simon. All three go together in my mind.
