What name(s) do you irrationally hate?

I'll start.

Denise.

I don't know any Denises... I'm sure they're lovely. But the name just rubs me up the wrong way.

NOTE: No Karen bashing please! Because it's been hijacked as a name and it's not fair on Karens.

Macey, Kacey, Lacey, Ella-Mae, Chardonnay, Kai, Ryan, Reese, Connor and Harley...all out having a high life drinking cider in a park.

And....I have to say it, my hatred has increased lately....Karen

MintyYogaTea · 28/09/2020 23:28

Just to say,. before I get virtual brickbats chucked my way , I have never known a nasty Karen. They have all been lovely. I just never liked the name...I think because it reminds me of my horrid early childhood inn the 80s, it was a popular name then. And now seeing all these sexist and nasty Karen videos and memes everywhere hasn't decreased my hatred one iota.

Ok, am officially a Mumsnet pariah now...

I'm most disappointed my name isn't on anybody's list. It definitely should be, it's hideous but my DM still loves it even though she knows how much I hate it.

Another vote for Stephanie (known a few women I didn't like who had that name)

Sophie (sweet name but just gets on my tits)

Colin (dickheads in my experience 🤣🙈)

How do You feel about Mandy? Grin

I don't like Keith either. Knew two that were moody, angry types who yelled at their wives and bosses them about.

Hate Gerald as well. Yuk!!

I think the worst name award goes to mom CoSandra for naming her daughter:

Deathraystare · 29/09/2020 07:41

Makes me think of men from the mid-80s with a flat cap and allotment

I would not mind a man with an allotment though of course he would have to remove the flat cap!!!

bigarsebelinda · 29/09/2020 07:48

Marnie - sounds like mardy or mouldy

Never come across it until recently. I wondered if it was a typo at first but no HmmConfused

Carpathian2 · 29/09/2020 08:07

Tyler. Every one I've known has been a cunt.

daisychain1620 · 29/09/2020 08:08
@daisychain1620 what's your first name? It would be interesting to find out which comments people would make on yours. Also my sister is called louise and the loveliest person anyone could meet. So sad you read thar much into names. Also I think most names rhyme with something, even yours Biscuit
My name has already been mentioned, made me giggle. Thought these comments were the point of this light hearted thread. Sorry didn't realise my opinion was so hurtful compared to all the other posts. I personally have never met a nice Louise but I know there are lovely Louise's out there.

danascully96 · 29/09/2020 08:38

I personally hate my own name. Not offended by anyone who doesn't share my taste -- it's really the classics which tend to be the safest, but you can't please everyone.

@Carpathian2 my worst bully was named Tyler!! Brian was pretty bad as well.

The Shelby and Brittanys I've known haven't been too peachy either Confused

Trots off to think about how my list is starting to sound like a sad version of Mambo #5 Blush

IntermittentParps · 29/09/2020 09:12

Freya - weak and insipid
I think it's a really strong, 'clean' name. I love it!

I've always liked Marnie.

And no, they aren't called Scunthorpe and Teeside. That's a shame Grin

ProudAuntie76 · 29/09/2020 09:19

I’m another one for whom Marnie sets my teeth on edge every time I see it mention on the baby names thread. Really irritating name.

Not keen on Beverly either. I knew a little Beverly in the late 90s when it was already very dated and felt so sorry for her. She was really out of place amidst the other girls in her class “Chloe, Grace, Caitlin and Bev”.

MrsMariaReynolds · 29/09/2020 09:27

Fran, Betty, Barry, Shirley

Any of the nouveaux American name varieties---Madison, Mason, Jackson, Brooklyn
