What name(s) do you irrationally hate?

I'll start.

Denise.

I don't know any Denises... I'm sure they're lovely. But the name just rubs me up the wrong way.

NOTE: No Karen bashing please! Because it's been hijacked as a name and it's not fair on Karens.

Wannabe middle class

@daisychain1620 what's your first name? It would be interesting to find out which comments people would make on yours. Also my sister is called louise and the loveliest person anyone could meet. So sad you read thar much into names. Also I think most names rhyme with something, even yours Biscuit

Yesterdayforgotten · 28/09/2020 20:52

Nothing wrong with disliking names as there is many I dislike but I wouldn't stereotype every person as awful because that is going alittle too far imo Shock

Oliver
Just a wimpy name and grates on me
And I KNOW its is relentlessly popular so I accept I'm in a vast minority

The other is
Alfie
It is a Budgies name and is not going to endure any test of time- but- again hugely popular - accept I am unusual!!

ellentree · 28/09/2020 21:01

Plenty of names i rationally dislike, but irrationally, Esmae/Esme. Don't know why as nothing really wrong with them objectively but can't like it. Maybe if I knew a little, nice one, it would grow on me.

Yesterdayforgotten · 28/09/2020 21:03

Felicity and imogen lovely names, dont agree!

My little girls name and OH's name have been mentioned but oddly not mine (Pamela/Pam). I hate my name, I sound 30 years older than I am.

SurreyHillsGirl · 28/09/2020 21:20

Why would anyone read a thread where it is HIGHLY likely that they will be offended and then get upset that they are offended Confused There are some beautiful names mentioned here, and you know what they say about opinions.. my advice is get over yourselves, life will be much less stressful

My name is on here. Bovered?

Ok my go

Freya - weak and insipid
Phoebe - see above
Sophie - see above
Lydia or Libby - reminds me of liver
Noah, Caleb - insipid
Mandy - always hard nosed, pretentious and opinionated
Natalie - see above
Floral names, Lily, Rose, Poppy - so boring and weak
Amelie, Millie, Milly - aspirations to be middle class
Charlie, Alfie, Albie, Archie, Stanley - just trying way too hard

Trinpy · 28/09/2020 21:32

This thread is great inspiration for baby names. I've just been scanning through looking for the names of my existing dcs then reading the other names that poster dislikes and its left me with a long list of possibilities for dc3 Grin.

Zaphodsotherhead · 28/09/2020 21:33

Am quietly smug that none of my DDs names have appeared. Although someone has said that they don't like place names and two of my DDs have place names, they aren't the typically used place names either.

And no, they aren't called Scunthorpe and Teeside.

ImaSababa · 28/09/2020 21:35

Callum
Tatum
Liam

The "-um" ending is ugly as hell.

Also the "-b" ending of Jacob and Caleb. Horrible.

NewMumSoon1 · 28/09/2020 21:37

Simon

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/09/2020 21:50

My name is on the hate list, but it doesn't bother me, because I hate it as well.

Mamascoven · 28/09/2020 21:53

Logan/Keegan/Teegan/Kayden/Jayden/Jenson - Absolutely awful.
Lexi-Mai, Lacey-Mae or anything other silly made up names.
Harlow, Harper, Isla, Esme - way too common now.
Archie - I just hate it. Like really hate it.

rayoflightboy · 28/09/2020 21:57

How can you irrationally dislike so many names?

Because quite a lot of names or even just sounds give me that nails down a blackboard/catbum face sort of a feeling.
