What little thing(s) that you do are you stupidly proud of?

I was just reading the thread about things we hate doing, and filling up with petrol was one of them.

Whereas, when I fill my car up with petrol I'm all LOOK AT ME, A LAYDEE, JUST HERE CASUALLY FILLING UP MY CAR LIKE A BIG BOSS GROWNUP!!!

What little everyday thing makes you ridiculously proud of yourself?

Baking a cake.

My mum was a great cook but she didn't bake so I grew up seeing cake making as a difficult art that only a stay at home mum, domestic goddess type could master.

Turns out I can whip up amazing tasting cakes with ease.

Always makes me feel super accomplished!

Parallel parking. I mean we all have to do it to pass our test but I still get that 'first try' buzz every time.
I would drive the car on fumes forever and flutter my eyelashes at DH to fill it up mind you.

I agree with parking. Always chuffed to get in the space nicely.

I'm always proud of myself when I get straight through a green light zero talent to it and yet it still sparks joy.

I can whistle on my fingers, proper loud. I use it to get dcs attention when I want them to come in for tea and when I walk my dogs.

Poor dh had to buy a dog whistle whereas I'm soooooo fucking cool!!!

And I can ride my bike with no hands but I still can't wheelie despite trying to for over 30 years :(

Picking up the really massive bags of compost in B&Q one under each arm, and telling the nice men assistants I'm just fine.

I was never strong before I had DD to cart around, but three years lifting a child really works your muscles, doesn't it?

Also I love it when I arrive on time for an appointment, with everything I need, and I have all the paperwork I might need printed down so I can refer to dates properly. I'm dyslexic and my mum (in retrospect even more dyslexic) could never do dates. They'd say 'are you free on the 7th?' or 'you need a follow-up in 10 days time, can you do that' and we'd be lost. Now I have my print-out calendar and so on and I feel so grown up. I also google what they might ask so I don't have to count on my hands. Sounds stupid, but the other morning I was so delighted I could tell them exactly what day was day 21 of my cycle and when on that day I could come in!

I don't know why. I think I must have read the phrase "pulling on her gloves" when I was a small child because it makes me feel all adult and sophisticated.

Putting the bin out.

Keeping the log store filled up (old cottage, wood burner much more efficient than electric heating in autumn and spring). Mowing the grass, XH used to moan no end about both tasks and never keep on top of them.

Menu planning, having a well stocked fridge and cupboards with little waste, but plenty of good, healthy food and treats available. I was in a financially abusive relationship in my twenties that meant I often couldn’t and now it is one of my greatest simple comforts.

I cannot. However I really want to!

I can run 5k. Not that big a deal, but until my 40s I couldn’t run for 5 minutes, so it feels miraculous.

I can fold crisp packets into neat little triangles. I show my OH all the time how to do it but he just can't get it.

I also worked out tonight how to cast my tablet onto my TV - hurrah!

I run 5k 3 times a week. I wish i could film myself at the last bit, I actually (albeitly quietly) whoop and say the same thing every time "you f'ing did it." I never swear apart from at the end of my run.

Oh and carrying all of my shopping bags in at once. I imagine all my neighbours saying "wow, she's so strong"

But the one I really, really wish I could do is whistle with my fingers I would be SO PROUD!!!

I still look good in just what my mother gave me.

When I feed my baby and myself at the same time... like I'm some multitasking machine!
Although I'm definitely not!! I end up wearing most of it, but I still give myself a little pat on the back 😅

I can win at noughts and crosses every single time and whoever I'm playing against, as long as I start

I can pronounce both Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu and llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch but I can't spell them

When we moved into our house I took down the rotten old shed with an axe and really enjoyed it. Do I have a problem

I can whip my tiny ancient little sports car around a proper track and keep up with all the blokes in their big fuck off cars. I've got a helmet and everything.

Today I amended a dropdown list on a sharepoint all by myself. I can do it again too.
