I'm normally very good with the rolling pin. I use it as a hammer sometimes since there is never a hammer in this house when you want one

I would not however, advise anyone to hammer their rice packet. Now that is going a step in the wrong direction

The sort we use actually tells you to squish it about, to break up the unified lump of rice, before you microwave it.

Look on the packaging, doesn't it say to do this ?

These days, I only use the rolling pin to batter the ice. I keep a bag in the freezer, and it's usually frozen into a single lump by the time we get back from the shop. It's very satisfying, though.

I don't have a microwave thing, and never had microwave rice, but now have to go and purchase both, just to try this magical trick !!

I've never heard of microwave rice in a bag. Does it have the water in the bag and really cook the rice or are you just warming it up?

The other day I came across DH using the vacuum cleaner as a duster (ie just hoovering the window sills) I was in awe. I imagine if I did any housework myself it would be life changing

I find it more effective to squish the packet after cooking (you’ll need to hold it in a tea towel as it’ll be hot)

For added wow use a marker pen to draw a picture of your exh on prior to bashing!!

I have never chosen my oven, they always come with the flat/house.

Twice (two different ovens), I have life changing oven-timer-related revelations over a year into using the oven.

Well I’m very excited to try this! My microwave rice is always hard and lumpy no matter how much I squeeze the bag so having fluffy rice would be a dream come true. I don’t have a rolling pin though :(

I sometimes get micro rice from lidl and the pack literally says seperate the rice in the packet before microwaving. Its right there in thr instructions.

Microwave rice can also be made into very acceptable fried rice. Bash with rolling pin and into wok with any added bits, beaten egg and soy sauce
