What the HELL its going on with my body?!

I've NC'd as I'm so embarrassed.

Backstory;
Went to docs a few months ago because stomach keeps on moving like a baby is in there(I've had two). She looked said I've probably got a more prominent heartbeat there or something. She had a feel and couldn't feel anything like a baby.

I was lying in bed last night and it was like something kicked under my ribs, just like my son used to. I've had it today too and the top half of my stomach looks and feels like a bump but I'm putting that down to weight. I can't lie on my front at night as it's too uncomfortable. Many negative urine tests.

I'm not mentally tricking myself into thinking I'm pregnant. I don't want another baby for many reasons so it's not like I want to believe in it but what the hell is this? It's so similar to when my son used to kick me under my ribs. It doesn't hurt but it's uncomfortable and keeps happening (since last night).

At least they are now giving you some kind of help. Very annoying for you though.

I don't know if you are addressing me, Soul, but a sliding hiatus hernia in a woman can mimic symptoms of pregnancy. They usually occur in a woman over fifty, though younger women do sometimes have them.

I had a very similar situation to you op.

I could feel a lot of wriggling around, like a baby, in my tummy especially under my ribs. Could also see visible movements in my tummy and I had a relatively hard mass in my tummy that did seem to move positions like a baby. When prodded and poked it moved. Pregnancy tests negative.

Long story short, GP, blood tests, stool sample, urine sample, I wasn’t pregnant. I got sent to hospital for an X-ray and some scans and shortly after that diagnosed with a sub type of IBS that causes problems in my colic flexures (Splenic Flexure and Hepatic Flexure). I was not windy at all and bowel movements were pretty normal. The hard masses I could feel were pockets of gas, the kicking under the ribs were gas accumulations, and the movements I could see were gut spasms. I wasn’t in any pain with any of it, apart from the discomfort of what felt like kicks and pressure under the ribs. It just felt like there was a baby inside. I’m now on Buscopan and peppermint oil capsules.

Obviously you need to have further tests done and I’m not saying you’ve got the same but I just wanted to share my experience with you as I know you’re worrying it might be something sinister.

I get this too, it’s unattached gallstones!

longcoffeebreak · 01/10/2020 00:09

What happened?

Any news @whatthehellis?

whatthehellis · 01/10/2020 11:05

Not really, handed in stool sample so we'll see.

Medical check first! - once you rule out anything serious, ask them to check for diastasis recti. If the linea alba is stretched post pregnancy and you have separation of the rectus abdominus then you can sometimes feel your digestive system moving around. This is often more noticeable when lying down as the rectus is stretched. Wouldn't usually be beneath the ribs 🤔, athough hernias can appear all along the linea alba. Like others have said - best to get it checked out 🙂 x
