I like my job, but it is a serious job in a very serious organisation. Daydreaming about a more fun job - something creative and different every day...

I went to an enchanted fairy forest today. It got me thinking, whoever has the job of building and making and curating the fairy houses must have a fun time. They were amazing, intricate and detailed.

My job is really fun but like any job it comes with the less fun bits. Plus I am self employed so I have to deal with everything myself. But every day is different and I work with clients all over the world and do so from home, its awesome and fits around childcare really well.

Although it is totally rhe kind of job many people think they could do without any training and assume it requires no talent at all.

KurriKawari · 20/09/2020 19:53

@fitzbilly that sounds amazing, where was it?

I reckon being a props buyer for tv and film would be fun. Imagine buying all those little period bits that make a production feel real.

Saucery · 20/09/2020 19:54

Prosthetics for the film industry.

Creakyladder · 20/09/2020 19:58

@BabetteAteOtemeal What’s your job? I’m intrigued!

fitzbilly · 20/09/2020 20:01

It was at Audley End in Essex. Highly worth a visit.

A Scarer in Madame Tussauds Chamber of Horrors.

I write in my spare time. I imagine it could be fun to be a full-time author, I don’t know for sure though!

LesLavandes · 20/09/2020 20:49

Private Detective

I’ve often thought I’d like to work in a job where the clients/customers are (mostly) happy. Weddings, births, holidays... there’s probably plenty of others. My current career I deal with situations that have gone wrong so everyone is usually quite miserable.

SuzieCarmichael · 20/09/2020 20:58

My job is creative and different every day. I’ve been doing it for 20 years now. The novelty wears off after a while.

FTMF30 · 20/09/2020 21:00

@BabetteAteOtemeal What do you do?

Porridgeoat · 20/09/2020 21:01

What do you do now and where do you live?

Handsnotwands · 20/09/2020 21:10

I want to be a location scout. I’m not sure if that even exists as a job but wouldn’t it be amazing

Brockwell · 20/09/2020 21:12

My niece is doing theatre set design at college which sounds fun to me.

That does sound very satisfying

My dd2 has just started training to be a beautician. She's going to be able to do massages and facials and nails and makeup and stuff - things that make people feel good. She's already doing bits for her friends (and me!) and you can tell how much she's enjoying it!

Sal1977 · 20/09/2020 21:45

I'm an intimate waxer and I bloody love it. I see a new person every 15 minutes (well 30 at the moment due to Covid) and the secrets and stories they tell me whilst naked on my treatment couch!! ShockGrin. Quite often I can't wait to see them again in 4 weeks for the next instalment!

B1rdinthebush · 20/09/2020 21:47

@Handsnotwands It very much does exist! I've worked with lots of them in my time (Im a TV commercial producer).

minipie · 20/09/2020 21:50

Sal1977 do you have a sadistic streak? Grin

TheChosenTwo · 20/09/2020 21:51

I wish I’d trained in giving facials! Purely because I love receiving them and also think it must be lovely doing a job that makes people feel so relaxed Grin

newnameforthis123 · 20/09/2020 21:54

Copywriting and PR. I love it. Mainly because I work for myself! What kind of experience do you have that people might be able to suggest relevant jobs for?

Burnthurst187 · 20/09/2020 21:58

Well Gareth Bale has been paid £600,000 a week to play golf in Spain for the last year or two. Sounds pretty fun to me

It's all about to change and not for the better though
