Here we go you lovely lot, Thread 11.

Post some lyrics of a song 70s, 80s, 90s (boundaries may be slightly pushed either way). State the decade & we will try to guess Artist(s) and song.

OP posts:

The last one, to my embarrassment, was on my Muppet Show album by Kermit’s nephew. Halfway down the stairs is the stair where I sit!

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 19:25

Correct to all three @Honeyroar 👏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼
Never be ashamed to know a muppet. They rock!

FlouncerInDenial · 28/09/2020 19:27

Isnt it A A Milne from now we are 6?

Yes. That's what I just discovered!
CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/09/2020 19:54

Half way down the stairs was in my recorder music book 😄
😍 awww! Ive got memories of sitting halfway down my stairs and singing it in my sad muppet nephew voice.
Honeyroar · 28/09/2020 20:12

What was the nephew called? Kevin?

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 20:18

Robin

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/09/2020 20:27

@NeedToKnow101 has it right. I think Kevin would have suited him though 😊

Still outstanding

All 80's

I often wonder how it could be - you loving me -
Two hearts in perfect harmony.
I'll count the hours until that day
A rhapsody plays a melody for you and me.

I listen to our favorite song playing on the radio
Hear the DJ say love's a game of easy come and easy go
But I wonder does he know?

I'd do anything for you,
I'd stand out in the rain
Anything you want me to do,
don't let it slip away

90s
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of the highest powers
In lonely hours
The tears devour you

OP posts:
Honeyroar · 28/09/2020 20:46

Stand out in the rain one is Sade’s Sweetest Taboo.

Honeyroar · 28/09/2020 20:48

The often wonder one is someone like Billy Ocean or Lionel Richie.

TwigTheWonderKid · 28/09/2020 20:49

@NeedToKnow101

Why can't you see That nature has its way of warning me Eyes open wide Looking at the heavens with a tear in my eye

90s

That's The Verve, Sonnet

Kermit and Kevin a good match.

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 20:53

@TwigTheWonderKid - correct ! Grin

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 20:54

No-one's got this 70s one..

You will not be able to stay home, brother
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag
And skip out for beer during commercials, because

@CoffeeBeansGalore - I googled that; didn't have it stored in my brain. I think I'm allowed as it was my song? Blush

Honeyroar · 28/09/2020 21:01

Don’t think anyone has guessed this -

I dreamt the impossible
That maybe things would turn out right
(80s)

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/09/2020 21:12

@Honeyroar correct to Sade. Also Billy Ocean, There'll be sad songs (to make you cry).

@NeedToKnow101, no offence meant. My comment was directed at Honey. I thought the name Kevin would have suited him. I wasn't questioning that it was Robin. My apologies.

@CoffeeBeansGalore - don't apologise... I just suddenly felt guilty for googling and thought I had better fess up! Grin

Fleamaker123 · 28/09/2020 21:17

One of mine that nobody's got yet, I've added a bit more...

Angel in disguise
With your power of love
You just hypnotize
I just love the magic of your spell
How much joy we have together
Only time will tell
92

Fleamaker123 · 28/09/2020 21:20

I can call you
Got your number
Share my life with you a thousand miles away
If you've hurt me
I haven't shown it
Times too tight to fight
And we're never face to face

84

FlouncingBabooshka · 28/09/2020 21:21

Someone a while ago -( was it Honey?) correctly identified this one as Sting but the song is still outstanding:

80s
There is no historical precedent
To put the words in the mouth of the president

This one also still outstanding so I’ve added more lyrics, with some blanks as, though not the full title, it would make it too obvious:

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions, golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
Xxxxx
Xxxxx
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

AJumpedUpPantryBoy · 28/09/2020 21:21

Could you understand if you found me untrue?
Would we become one, or divided in two?
