Here we go you lovely lot, Thread 11.

Post some lyrics of a song 70s, 80s, 90s (boundaries may be slightly pushed either way). State the decade & we will try to guess Artist(s) and song.

Ah no, it was a donner special kebab on garlic naan.
I’ve had to leave some regrettably as I’m now stuffed 😁.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/09/2020 09:15

Personally prefer coffee & croissants as brunch 😊. Although thinking about it I don't think I've ever had a kebab 🤔

@CoffeeBeansGalore.

I love croissants and coffee too.

The kebabs are too filling to eat in one go. I have to have a sleep in between 😂.

Favourite brunch leftover curry or kedgeree with a fried egg on top, lime and coriander and some Chinese peanut chilli sauce. 🙌🏼💯✅

Sounds good @NeedToKnow101 😊.

I was just thinking I’d killed the thread because of a bloody kebab...

Right, back to business ...

One from the 80s:

Does everything stop when the old tape fails?

TwigTheWonderKid · 27/09/2020 11:08

Well done @CarnageAtTheGardenCentre!

I would have given you all of my heart
But there's someone who's torn it apart
And she's taken just all that I had
But if you want I'll try to love again
Baby, I'll try to love again but I know
First written in the 60s and covered ever since

@TwigTheWonderKid - Rod Stewart first cut is the deepest ? I’ve heard the original, but I don’t know who sang it...

Well done @CarnageAtTheGardenCentre
Just been listening to Cat Stevens on Desert Island discs and was surprised to learn that he wrote it

CarnageAtTheGardenCentre · 27/09/2020 13:32

I didn’t know that either @TwigTheWonderKid.

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 17:55

It's not the things you do that tease and hurt me bad
But it's the way you do the things you do to me

80s

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 17:56

Why can't you see
That nature has its way of warning me
Eyes open wide
Looking at the heavens with a tear in my eye

90s

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 17:58

You will not be able to stay home, brother
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag
And skip out for beer during commercials, because

1970

NeedToKnow101 · 28/09/2020 18:03

And an absolute classic from the 70s... (although written earlier I just discovered).

It isn't in the nursery
It isn't in the town
And all sorts of funny thoughts run round my head
It isn't really anywhere
It's somewhere else instead

Honeyroar · 28/09/2020 19:10

The phenomenon one is White Lines by Grandmaster Flash and Melly Mel.

Honeyroar · 28/09/2020 19:11

It’s not the things that you do is Blondie’s Tide is High.
