Just wondering as mine is looking fairly in need of a wash...

I take the hairs out after every use though

ZarasHouse · 18/09/2020 16:26

I only wash a brush that's dirty. I have lots of brushes, which aren't used that much, and a wide tooth comb I use while my hair has conditioner on it (before rinsing it out). So that gets washed in the shower. I always remove any hair after use from brushes though. All my hair brushes look tidy because they have no hair in.

Anything less than 3 times a day is shameful.

When I can be bothered. I washed them a couple of weeks ago but I could wash them again next week or in another couple of weeks. If they look dirty then they get washed

anuffername · 18/09/2020 16:51

I don't have a hairbrush.

theviewfromhalfwaydown · 18/09/2020 16:59

Never.

StarlightLady · 18/09/2020 17:04

Daily, as part of ny norning shower routine.

StarlightLady · 18/09/2020 17:05

I meant to type “morning shower routine”. I wash the haibrush and me!

Twospaniels · 18/09/2020 18:33

I remove the hair every time use it and probably wash it every two weeks or so.
I wash my hair every other day so I don’t think I make my brush too dirty.
I am in menopause and seem to be losing quite a bit of hair, so do remove it from the brush each time.

CorianderLord · 18/09/2020 19:52

Never.... I rip the hair off on occasion

EnoughAlready2020 · 18/09/2020 19:54

Never.

GolightlyMrsGolightly · 18/09/2020 21:07

Hmmm...mine gets kind of scuffy. And how do you only brush clean hair.....unless you wash you hair every day. (Oh...)

Are you supposed to?? Maybe once or twice a year when it gets a bit fluffy 😁 but I take the hair out of it every few days

alwaystiredalwaysgrumpy · 18/09/2020 21:13

Ummm how do you wash a hairbrush??

DappledThings · 18/09/2020 21:55

Well I can add washing hairbrushes to the list of things MN has alerted me that I ought to be doing. It's not a list I intend to ever act on mind.

QueenofLouisiana · 18/09/2020 22:50

Weekly. Normally I read these threads and feel like a complete slattern, but for once I do more washing than most.

QueenOllie · 18/09/2020 22:55

I don't own one Grin

ZZGirl · 18/09/2020 23:07

Never

ChanklyBore · 18/09/2020 23:13

I don’t brush my hair every day. Maybe once or twice a week. I use my fingers to separate it. I also don’t use product or dye on my hair. I have never washed a hairbrush.

queenjaneappro · 18/09/2020 23:15

It's honestly never occurred to me 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 18/09/2020 23:18

@The4ks

I spray hairspray on mine and brush through my hair, helps tame flyaways. Gets pretty sticky after a couple of weeks as you can imagine.

So the answer to your question is, never, I just buy a new one! Luckily they're very cheap!

Is this a joke?
EmbarrassingAdmissions · 18/09/2020 23:23

I put hairbrushes and combs through the dishwasher.

I've got scalp psoriasis so I've got various creams on my head and need to be absolutely sure anything touching it is clean as my skin can be broken.

MissConductUS · 19/09/2020 00:13

I only wash it if I've had to use it on DH's backside. 😁

Doliv63 · 19/09/2020 00:15

Crikey it has never happened 😳

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/09/2020 07:40

Maybe once a month now, but when I was a lot younger and had greasy hair that needed very frequent washing, I washed it every time I washed my hair.

Dh only uses a comb on what hair he has left, and I give that a scrub with a nail brush now and then, because he never thinks to do it . He washes his hair virtually every day in the shower but the (white) comb still gets dirty-looking between the teeth. On a darker one it wouldn’t show.
I dare say it doesn’t show on the average hairbrush, either.
