Chicken Kiev. What vegetables?

I have a nice one of these for tomorrow's dinner but don't know which vegetables to have too. I already have Parmentier potatoes; I'm not keen on green beans or garden peas. What would you go for ? Ta.

I had CK last night ( fancy one from Tescos meal deal range oooh ) I did exactly as @PickAChew mentioned sweetheart cabbage with Tescos cubed roast spuds I thought it may be a bit dry so had some tinned tomatoes too.

Tenderstem broccoli, baby sweet corn or asparagus are 3 veg that don't need gravy imo

GCAcademic · 17/09/2020 19:20

I'm going to sound really uncouth, but fuck it. Chips. You need chips to dunk in that garlic butter. And, yes, chips are a vegetable. Absolutely.

Cucumber, tomato and onion diced up, fried with a little olive oil a squeeze of lemon and a bit of salt and pepper. I’d have it with plain white rice though not potatoes.

Petitmum · 17/09/2020 19:24

I like it with rice and salad. My kids like it served on a bed of rice mixed with peas and sweetcorn.

butterpuffed · 17/09/2020 19:25

Mushrooms, tomatoes and baby potatoes.

whattodo2019 · 17/09/2020 19:30

Broccoli , Carrots and peas?

Reader1984 · 17/09/2020 19:32

Savoury rice and salad.

justjuggling · 17/09/2020 19:36

Runner beans, broccoli or salad.

LesLavandes · 17/09/2020 19:39

Mash potatoes and peas. Yum

Blueberrycreampie · 17/09/2020 19:42

Green beans grilled toms and potato ( new, mash or jacket).

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 17/09/2020 19:46

Jacket potato and sweet corn. The potato soaks up all the garlic butter.

Am Envy at the idea of baked beans or spaghetti hoops.

MadisonMontgomery · 17/09/2020 19:46

Mashed potatoes to soak up all the garlicky buttery yumminess then peas & broccoli for some freshness.

BlenheimOrange · 17/09/2020 19:49

I don’t think I’ve had a chicken Kiev since I was about 8. But now I really want one. For me it would be peas and oven chips for the full childhood experience.

Spreadingcomfrey · 17/09/2020 19:51

Mash and purple sprouting broccoli or kale

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 17/09/2020 19:53

Chips & peas

YummyInMyTummy · 17/09/2020 19:54

Peas or sweetcorn (as we always have them in the house) and new potatoes or mashed potato. Broccoli also a good idea / most green veg would be fine.

Baked beans do not seem like an appropriate accompaniment at all!!?! Or anything wet & tomatoey!

AllPlayedOut · 17/09/2020 19:56

Tenderstem brocolli or asparagus though I love it with spaghetti in Aldi's grilled pepper or tomato and mascarpone stir in sauce. I had Waitrose's Kiev with that tonight. I sometimes roast peppers and red onion and add it to the sauce.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/09/2020 19:57

I usually just have two kievs, then fruit afterwards.
I'd choose salad over veg though, maybe some roasted vine tomatoes, sort of squashed over a little gem lettuce wedge.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 17/09/2020 19:58

I usually do them with mash and whatever veg I have so often frozen mixed veg or peas. and ketchup

Gingaaarghpussy · 17/09/2020 19:59

Mashed potatoes and sweetcorn, so a well can be created in the mash for the garlic butter, then mix in the sweetcorn. Yum.

rambleon1 · 17/09/2020 19:59

Chips and salad.

userxx · 17/09/2020 20:01

you probably don't need potatoes with the carbs in the kiev

This ^. How could you even contemplate having potato with breadcrumbs in the same meal 😱. Carb coma here I come 😏

ZarasHouse · 17/09/2020 20:01

Pasta, tomato pasta sauce, and peas with mine please, and lots of grated cheese.

ZarasHouse · 17/09/2020 20:02

Or with colcannon mash, extra buttered sautéed cabbage and other greens (leeks are my fave) and some honey roast carrots or parsnips. My kids like them with Yorkshire puddings, peas and sweet corn
