Sad about this. She was 82, which is not a great age these days. What a talent. www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-54106509

Very sad to hear this she was brilliant .

Such presence. I was a toddler when she was in The Avengers in the 60s but I've seen a few repeats. She was absolutely marvellous in Game of Thrones too.

Sad to hear this.
She was so good in GoT.

Kayemm · 10/09/2020 14:49

She was elegant and beautiful into old age.

I had an Emma Peel doll when I was young.

She's also Guy Garvey's mil!

TweetUsOnFacebook · 10/09/2020 14:55

That's so sad. Such a beautiful and talented actor. The show I remember her most from was 'Mother Love' she was superbly creepy. RIP.

EasyLifer · 10/09/2020 14:59

What a shame I have literally just watched her as Mrs Pumphrey in All Creatures Great and Small! Loved her in Game of Thrones. RIP.

AgentCooper · 10/09/2020 15:01

She was awesome. I was just watching her in the Detectorists recently and thinking how elegant she was.

EchoCardioGran · 10/09/2020 15:01

An inspiring woman.

Lookatthemshine · 10/09/2020 15:04

Aw that’s sad 😞. Loved her with her daughter in the Detectorists and in the episode of Extras with Daniel Radcliffe!

WildRosie · 10/09/2020 15:10

Steed popped down to say Mrs Peel was needed elsewhere, it seemsWink.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 10/09/2020 15:11

82?! I’d say that’s a good innings isn’t it?

june2007 · 10/09/2020 15:15

82 a GOOD Innings? No I wouldn,t say so for someone who has been active.

ButterflyRuns · 10/09/2020 15:16

Great woman, RIP.

GCAcademic · 10/09/2020 15:18

That's sad. We just watched her in the new All Creatures Great and Small a couple of nights ago, and she was as wonderful as ever.

Evenstar · 10/09/2020 15:18

I saw her as Cleopatra in Nottingham in the early 80’s when studying Anthony and Cleopatra for O Level, she had an incredible presence. Sad news and a great loss to theatre.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2020 15:19

Very sad, I doubt we'll see the likes of her, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith or Eileen Atkins in the future.

just what I thought...with a nice glass of champagne
IsadoraQuagmire · 10/09/2020 15:22

I'm So sad...

BirthdayCakes · 10/09/2020 15:23

Awww - I'm making the DC watch Detectorists at the moment..

AlternativePerspective · 10/09/2020 15:28

Yes 82 is a good innings. Because while many people do live longer than that and into their 90’s very few do so with their health in tact.

Given the choice between 82 and fit and 90 with dementia I know which one I would want for both myself and a parent.

Very sad about Diana Rigg though but she had a long and happy/healthy life from what I can see.

LadyCatStark · 10/09/2020 15:30

Such a shame, she was brilliant as Lady Olenna.

VinylDetective · 10/09/2020 15:35

It’s very sad for her family. 82 doesn’t feel like a particularly good innings to me, both my parents were leading very active lives at that age, with more than a decade to go.

beguilingeyes · 10/09/2020 15:36

Detectorists is a work of art.

Properly sad about this. Mrs Peel was so iconic and she was also the only Mrs Bond.

ChicCroissant · 10/09/2020 15:36

Ah, the awesome Mrs Peel - although I liked her in Mother Love as well, RIP.

Roselilly36 · 10/09/2020 15:39

I loved her, does anyone remember her in Mother Love, played the role fantastic, I really loved that drama.
