Has Ocado got its act together now?

I used my Ocado slots for a shielding relative during the lockdown and then stayed away for a bit. I’d just started using them again but apparently they were dreadful over the period of transition to M&S.

Is it OK now? Can I risk an order?

All fine here

Montybojangles · 10/09/2020 11:38

My order last week had a few missing items and some fairly short use by dates, but just had my second order since the M&S swap delivered this morning and it’s all fine. Good dates, no missing or substituted items. I’m quite enjoying trying the M&S stuff.

LearnedResponse · 10/09/2020 11:53

Thanks, I’ll give it a go. Now all I want is the app to be back up and running.

I tried it this week just for interest. No issues with slots or delivery, and no missing items.

I am disappointed by the quality of M&S food though. The dates are really short, and the offerings in comparison to Waitrose are just not good enough. They aren't as tasty or as good quality in terms of ingredients.

I don't think I will go back to them as a frequent shopper.
Will stick with Waitrose, who have been excellent since lockdown.
So I am fairly disappointed (other than the free Percy Pigs!).

I did an order last and it was cancelled last minute. They've still charged my card. It's been an absolute nightmare. CS denying I'd been charged, calling me a liar. I've escalated it to their head office and no response. I'm now having to do a chargeback on an order I didn't receive.

TweeBree · 10/09/2020 12:04

*I did an order last week

@LearnedResponse

Thanks, I’ll give it a go. Now all I want is the app to be back up and running.
I had an email last week telling me the app was back so it's worth checking it. It might not be available to everyone (they were rolling it out gradually)
Allthenumbers · 10/09/2020 12:16

Right over the transition I had an order with 17 missing items! But they called me that evening to try and redeliver. They couldn’t do it by when I needed so sent me a £10 voucher instead.

All been great since then.

Allthenumbers · 10/09/2020 12:17

I have the app too. Been working for me for a while so worth checking.

Fuss · 10/09/2020 12:19

Still loads out of stock for me, mostly M&S stuff thats replaced standard Waitrose stuff.
Also seem to have a distinct lack of fresh meat, couldn't order anything fo sunday lunch (well, I could but a £30 joint of beef would not have gone down well I suspect) and my steaks were all missing from this mornings delivery with no subs.

I'm going to leave them a week or two until the novelty wears off with the new M&S incomers I think.

Standrewsschool · 10/09/2020 12:19

I’ve ordered from their website and all fine. Got a free pack of Percy Pigs today so happy. Doesn’t take much to please me!

Also like the meal for two deals.

INeedNewShoes · 10/09/2020 12:20

I've been receiving Ocado orders no problem from the beginning of June up until most recent one on Saturday. Very few or no substitutions with these orders.

They've yet to let me back onto the app though which is frustrating. I've been shopping with them for years and had a finely honed system for my weekly shop with them but I need the app back for the convenience of it!

wowfudge · 10/09/2020 12:23

We've had no issues - the odd substitution, but that's all. I went back to Ocado as Morrisons changed to picking from store rather than warehouse and there was a distinct lack of choice and substitutions were odd.

AlternativePerspective · 10/09/2020 12:26

App still not up for me and Ocado say there’s no timeline for bringing it back.

On twitter a lot of complaints still about cancelled orders, rubbish substitutions, and the free Percy pigs being substituted for an item the customer is then charged for.

And the app only says it has been rolled out to a small number of customers and Ocado have stopped answering queries about it on twitter because they were putting out a boiler template response and people had had enough of hearing it.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 10/09/2020 12:28

The substitutions I had last night were very poor, mouldy m&s white mushrooms for chestnut mushrooms and pork sausages for meat-free chicken pieces!
That’s the last shop for me with Ocado, Waitrose for me!

OooglyBoogly · 10/09/2020 12:46

Just tried the app and it let me in for five seconds and then told me it was being rolled out to a small number of customers and they'd let me know when it was my turn. Not the end of the world though, I don't really mind using the website.

I have a recurring weekly delivery slot and all has been fine. (Except that I forgot to update my order this week, so they sent me a few things I didn't need and I'm missing some of the things I did need. Entirely my fault though!)

Yellowbutterfly1 · 10/09/2020 13:04

Either Ridiculous substitutions or no substitute at all for things like a toothbrush.

wowfudge · 10/09/2020 13:04

The website has a mobile version which works well whilst the app is not available.

NastyBlouse · 10/09/2020 13:26

I've now had two orders delivered since the changeover. Both fine. One substituted item on the first order (different type of oranges), nothing amiss on the second.

The range was a bit diminished when I initially shopped but I think that's probably a deliberate change management logistics thing and it'll increase again in time. Still, I was able to get a dried ancho chilli, apricot harissa paste, 00 flour and two different kinds of jerk seasoning so I'm not personally missing out on the kinds of unusual cooking ingredients that I would normally buy.

I do miss those massive Waitrose flame raisins but I'm sure I'll learn to love again.

tattychicken · 10/09/2020 13:55

My first order with them due to be delivered tonight was cancelled late last night. Rather posed off as it was Colin cakes and other stuff for my daughter's birthday.

tattychicken · 10/09/2020 13:55

*pissed

AlternativePerspective · 10/09/2020 14:37

I just had a look at waitrose, and there are no delivery slots round here for at least the next two weeks.

TBH I wasn’t a huge waitrose shopper before but thought I’d have a look. Iceland I can get next day, Tesco/sainsburys within about five days, so I don’t imagine any of the more upmarket supermarkets will be getting my business.

LearnedResponse · 12/09/2020 17:28

Well I decided to give them a go and a) the app still isn’t working for me
b) the next slot available is Friday evening. Seriously? How can switching from one supplier to another have dried their slots up like that?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 12/09/2020 17:43

Just to put the complete opposite experience, my next available slot (using the app) is Monday. 😂

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 12/09/2020 19:16

A few items out of stock in last week’s order (the first since the switchover) but everything fine this week.
