The coffee machine Wink

Definitely the sea.

Thunder on a stormy night, so exciting (as long as I’m safe and warm indoors obviously).

I see your cats purring and raise you... kittens purring 😻

mrwalkensir · 08/09/2020 18:32

Our three chatting and laughing happily together when they meet up (or even better when they're cheerily singing Hamilton etc together).
Babies discovering that they can make new noises eg crowing

Inthebleakmidwinteriwouldsing · 08/09/2020 18:33

Horses’ hooves on asphalt.

mrwalkensir · 08/09/2020 18:33

although would remind you that Terry Pratchett said something along the lines of "there's no lovelier sound than children chatting happily, unless you get close enough to hear what they're actually saying"...

Talisin · 08/09/2020 18:35

Rain on the flat roof of my house - preferably when I’m lying in bed.

CurtainWitcher · 08/09/2020 18:35

Brushing hair

mrwalkensir · 08/09/2020 18:35

Inthebleakmidwinteriwouldsing - during lockdown, dogs running across the local golf course (we're on chalk) made a wonderful drumming sound

Birdsong
The sound of an owl flying overhead - the whoosh.
Buzzards screeching
Hearing a flock of crows flying to their nighttime nesting area
Horses whinnying a greeting as you approach down a lane
The sea pounding heard from a distance
The wind raging
Cats purring or chirruping hello
Fire crackling
Hot bath running
Crisp bedding crackling

Permanentlypuzzled · 08/09/2020 19:09

I like Chopin and Bizet and the songs of yesterday
Children’s voices singing Polynesian carols.
But the music that excels is the sound of oil wells
As they slurp, slurp, slurp into the barrels.

“An old fashioned girl.” Earth Kitt.

😁😁😁 Sorry .

Islandblue · 08/09/2020 19:31

People biting into crisps

dementedma · 08/09/2020 19:34

Rain at night
Fire crackling
Cat purring
Pop of a champagne cork
A gurgling stream
Waves on shingle
Wind in the trees
Birdsong
Mum answering her phone when I ring, so I know she’s ok

Readandwalk · 08/09/2020 19:35

Wind farms.
Car tyres on a pebble driveway.
Sizzling fried food.

Tequilamockinbird · 08/09/2020 19:37

Rain on the window, or the roof of a caravan. The heavier, the better.

footprintsintheslow · 08/09/2020 19:42

The sound of zips when camping in tents

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 08/09/2020 19:47

Rain on a tin roof (conservatory roof a second best)
The sound of lapwings
Song of skylarks
The wind in the trees
Owls at night
Pouring tea from a proper pot

Dyinginsideatthecringe · 08/09/2020 20:24

Cats purring
Rain (thunderstorm)
Sea

purrswhileheeats · 08/09/2020 20:33

Yep, kitties purring and the sound of the sea.

Also, Geordie accents. I can never get enough of them ❤️

Iheartwhitetshirts · 08/09/2020 20:41

The sound of a baby laughing
The little mewls of a newborn
Tea being poured from a teapot
Thunder
The wind and rain on a stormy night when you’re tucked up in bed
The sea

MislaidMyBrain · 08/09/2020 21:06

Apart from my dc of course, thunder and rain.
And weirdly, the rhythmic sounds of a car indicator.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/09/2020 21:06

My kids belly laughing.
A glokenspeil (sp)

purrswhileheeats · 08/09/2020 21:17

I haven't heard the sound of thunder or rain for over six months, horrible heatwave here in Cyprus.

The rhythmic sounds of car indicators has never been heard here 🤣

toomanyspiderplants · 08/09/2020 21:20

My DD singing. (she's not a good singer but it melts my heart)

cactusdog · 08/09/2020 22:17

I love this thread so much .

The car indicator one reminds me of a sound I love/loved;

Heavy rain on the car windscreen with the swish of the wipers and the clicking of the indicator. Reminds me of travelling by car on holiday, sleepy in the back seat, preferably when dark
