The only people I have met with my surname are my parents and sister. It is an old enough English name though as we have my Dad's family tree back to the 1600's.
There is however a cottage of this name and about 23 gravestones with it in Harby in Leicestershire.

Love this thread. Grin

I used to work with someone called Goodhead. I thought it would make a fabulous Bond character name. She was very prim and proper.

There's a London surgeon called Bellringer - a urologist.

We have a lovely GP called Dr Hersh (pronounced Harsh) Kak. I always feel he should be a bowel specialist.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 08/09/2020 08:09

Wannabecheeky, not spelt like that ( Sri Lankan ) but pronounced that way.

Greatorex, that's an old English name apparently

ihaveanunusualsurname · 08/09/2020 08:10

Mines been mentioned Grin - I've never met anyone not related with it Grin

Yesyoudoknowme · 08/09/2020 08:13

My maiden name - and no I'm not saying - but one of only about 180 in the country - and you will find it in the dictionary (no, not wanking). I used to work for a company who had a customer called Mr Brownjobs. Why TF would you not change your name?

Ironmanrocks · 08/09/2020 08:20

Mrs Deadman,

Mrs Loveless......

Mrs Drain,

they made me so sad......think they lived in Staines as well. Sad

CeibaTree · 08/09/2020 08:27

Bumgardener. A friend's American boyfriend had it. I know there is a different spelling of Baumgardener, but his was definitely spelled Bum.

LeslieYep · 08/09/2020 08:30

Drane. Definitely put me off anything serious with the guy.
I grew up near a family with the surname Jelly. They completely embraced it and one of their children was Kelly!

stophuggingme · 08/09/2020 08:34

Remember another

Twink.

It was another delegate at a conference I attended and I remember sniggering like a pathetic school kid at it Blush

wheresmymojo · 08/09/2020 08:42

Dikshit (Indian and fairly common there)

I'm the only person other than my husband with our surname in the UK (maybe even world???).

It's not amusing though, just I have a reasonably rare surname and we've double barrelled so the chances of anyone having the same are teeny tiny. But yes, great for getting email addresses!

My dentist was Mr Beaglehole.

Years ago when I worked in a bank there was someone with the surname Dragonrider.

Clytemnestra2 · 08/09/2020 08:52

These are notable because they match the persons job rather than being unusual, but I know of two doctors specialising in bowel & Gastro issues - one called Dr Rakshit, the other’s full name was Asad Butt.
