Tell me about your BIG underwired bras

snappycamper · 06/09/2020 15:58

I wear a 44D and like underwiring in my bras.

M&S have recently stopped making the only underwired style that they did in this size, leaving me with no wired options there.

Where do those of you with similar sized chests buy bras? The likes of bravissimo are limited to smaller chest sizes, and I've found that the catalogue options tend to be cheaply and poorly made. I have on occasion bought nice bras in the rigby and peller sale but it's too expensive for everyday.

Hit me with your recommendations and thank you in advance Smile

Have you been into Bravissimo and asked them to fit you? When I first went to them, my back size went down and my cup size went up...

But a quick google suggests this place goes up to a size 52 back so you might find something suitable there?

tectonicplates · 06/09/2020 16:07

Sorry to be that person but are you definitely wearing the right size? M&S tend to get it wrong and put you in a back size that's too big. If you found out that you were actually, say, a 40E then it would be easier to find bras in that size.

Would something like this suit?

I’ll also be that person - a 44D is a fairly unusual size measured properly, what clothes size do you usually wear?

bluebiro · 06/09/2020 16:10

Check your size on Boob or Bust

snappycamper · 06/09/2020 16:37

I will remeasure and report back.

I wear size 20/22

@bluebiro

Check your size on Boob or Bust
According to this I am a 44 FF

Seems like a massive difference

I will try ordering up a cup size as M&S have plenty of underwired options in DD+ cup sizes

I’m a size 20 and wear a 36/38 HH. Bravissimo when I am in town to be fitted, but Elomi are the best brand for my size and shape.

Beaniebeemer · 06/09/2020 20:02

I love Goddess bras

ChickenwingChickenwing · 06/09/2020 20:05

I'm a 22 leaning towards 24 in tops and I wear 42DD/E from ASDA. Cheap as chips and they lost rather well. Plain smooth TShirt bras.

thinkfast · 06/09/2020 20:07

Have you tried with a back extender?

Prettybluepigeons · 06/09/2020 20:07

20/22 here and wear a 38gg from bravissimo

twilightcafe · 06/09/2020 20:07

If you're a size 20 then I'm not sure that a 44 band size is correct. I'd bet that you're a smaller band size than that, like 38.

Thanks, but I had measured as 44 previously and have rechecked myself this evening and measured 44 again.

I don't think I am a 38 Hmm

what's your under bust measurement? that's your band size

CrotchetyQuaver · 06/09/2020 20:28

i'm a 20-22 clothes size on top and a 38G or 40FF bra

weegiemum · 06/09/2020 20:35

Last time I was in Bravissimo they said the largest band size they stock is 40.

I really rate Yours for bras. Ive given up on underwriting but they were by far the best for the bigger bust!

ThinkWittyThoughts · 06/09/2020 20:45

M&S dreadful for fittings. Mum took me there as a teenager and they said I was a 42D. Hahahaha... no. Went to a lovely little independent and measured a 36FF. Bit different Hmm

If it's "just" the band size, have you considered going to bravissimo armed with some of those extender things? Maybe with that they can help you find a decent bra.

I find bravissimo the best because they don't use tape measures - they use their eyes. If it fits they tell you. If it doesn't they tell you why.

ThatLibraryMiss · 06/09/2020 20:48

There are 126 on Belle Lingerie. Second time today I've recommended them - I don't work for them, honest (I'd love an employee discount tho...)

And use the reddit abrathatfits guide to measure yourself, and for suggestions for models that will suit you.

Look at Bravissimo. They specialise in large sizes and you can phone them for advice

Donnasaurus · 06/09/2020 21:02

I second whoever's said elomi, they are super comfortable and really supportive

MaudebeGonne · 06/09/2020 21:04

I'd get measured properly - I'm a 20-22 and 40" band, GG cup. Elomi are my favorite brand - fantastic support, wash well and give me a nice shape.

Ideally, go an get measured and try a few on in your nearest lingerie shop. Or, If you can afford to, I'd order a few bras in different sizes from somewhere like Brastop and them return what you don't want.

snappycamper · 06/09/2020 22:08

Thanks to those who have made suggestions, rather than just telling me I don't know my own size.
